This campground is beautiful! The land is well maintained, the bathrooms are clean, and the owners are great people. We enjoyed exploring the trails on the property. This place offers so much more then I was expecting. Truly a hidden gem and a great spot to connect with nature.
Sep 14, 2024 · Jamie LudvigsenCharming campground just south of Williamstown, MA. Perfect jumping off point for a trip to the Berkshires, but also fun just to hang out in the sauna or hike up to the wind farm (~2 miles, uphill). Delicious spring water available. Just be sure to bring a quarter for the shower and remember to twist the quarter machine further than you think (this will make sense once you try to operate the mechanism).
Sep 05, 2023 · Scott MiddletonConsider this trip a time travel, a 70’s throwback, a DIY reality show, everything but your life in the city. If you like to fix things in your garage, or if you like nature, and you don’t mind handcrafted old things that still work, this is a must see. If you bring kids along, they would spend quality time with you because there is no phone signal or WiFi. This is a unique place, and it is impossible to compare it with any popular campground. The guardian of this mountain and campground is a Korean War veteran, an incorruptible soul.
Sep 08, 2021 · S SWe had an absolutely wonderful time at Privacy Campground! We were very impressed at the beauty and, well, privacy that the campground offered. We’ve been to a fair number of campgrounds in the Northeast where the campsites have been right on top of each other. To me that completely defeats the point of camping, so this was a welcome change. All of the campsites are set away from each other at different spots on a large slope, with trees and underbrush separating them. (Don't worry about the hill, tent sites are still flat enough for a tent!) We appreciated the balance struck by the amenities - there was enough, but not so much that we felt like we weren’t even camping. Water was available at the bathroom house, but not at every tent site. The bathrooms were simple, but clean, neat and dry. We were grateful that there was some indoor space (it rained heavily during our trip) but when it wasn't pouring, the outdoors was much more interesting than the rec hall. (Which to me, is exactly how it should be!) The kids had a great time playing in the creek, on the boats at the pond, and in the playground - there is a kid-operated trolley in the playground that really moves, 25 cents for 30 min of fun. We enjoyed hiking up the trail on Neptune Ave and seeing the frogs, salamanders, chipmunks, maple and birch trees. We hope to be back next year!
Aug 13, 2024 · Sasha NelsonPrivacy Campground is truly a unique gem in the Berkshires. Nestled on the lower western slope of Brodie Mountain in Hancock, MA, it offers a rewarding camping experience for families with or without children, groups, or couples just wanting a getaway. Sites are isolated by trees, thus the appropriateness of "Privacy." Campground founder Andre Rambaud is an absolute genius in his ability to meld his creative & engineering skills into the natural landscape. Among other things, he's carved hiking trails on the mountainside, including to the top. We camped every summer with our boys for decades, never wanting to go anywhere else for vacation. Andre continues to add new features for the benefit of campers (note the new rec room in photos). Privacy also offers great proximity to all the culture that the Berkshires has to offer: Tanglewood, Barrington Stage, Mass MoCA, Jacob's Pillow, etc.
