Red River Canoe Rental Introduce
For local residents in the Adams, Tennessee area and those seeking an adventurous "camping near me" experience centered around river activities, Red River Canoe Rental, located at 8002 Old Hwy 41 N, Adams, TN 37010, USA, offers a unique combination of camping facilities and opportunities for canoeing and kayaking on the Red River. Based on recent customer reviews, when fully operational, this location provides not only a place to camp but also convenient access to river rentals and a shuttle service, all supported by a friendly and dedicated staff.
The environment at Red River Canoe Rental is intrinsically linked to the Red River itself. Several reviewers highlight the proximity of the campsites to the river, with one even sharing photos taken "directly in front of my tent overlooking the river." This suggests that many, if not all, campsites offer scenic waterfront views, enhancing the camping experience with the sights and sounds of the flowing river. The natural surroundings of Adams, Tennessee, likely contribute to a peaceful and outdoorsy atmosphere, making it an appealing "camping near me" destination for those who enjoy being close to the water. The mention of the crew working to clear debris and regrade roads after flooding indicates a commitment to maintaining the accessibility and beauty of the riverfront environment for campers.
The core services offered by Red River Canoe Rental, beyond camping, revolve around river activities. When "in full operation," they provide "kayak, canoe rentals" and a "shuttle service." This indicates a comprehensive setup for enjoying the Red River, allowing campers and other visitors to easily rent equipment and have transportation arranged for put-in and take-out points along the river. This convenience is a significant feature for those seeking "camping near me" with built-in recreational activities. However, one review noted a less fulfilling experience when these rental and shuttle services were "shut down for the season," emphasizing that the full experience is tied to the availability of these river-based services.
The staff at Red River Canoe Rental are consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. One reviewer specifically mentioned the staff being "very friendly and helpful" when the river and associated services were running. Another described the staff as "excellent" and the owner as a "Good kind man," further highlighting the positive interactions with the people running the operation. This strong emphasis on customer service suggests that visitors can expect a welcoming and supportive environment during their "camping near me" stay.
A particularly noteworthy event mentioned in a review was the effort of the "crew" to get the campground and river access ready after flooding. The reviewer expressed immense gratitude for their hard work in clearing debris and regrading roads in time for an Easter weekend stay in April 2025. This demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining the facilities and ensuring that visitors can enjoy their time despite environmental challenges. It also speaks to the dedication of the staff in going above and beyond to provide a positive experience for those seeking "camping near me" at Red River Canoe Rental.
Beyond the immediate camping and river activities, one reviewer pointed out the rich history of the surrounding area, particularly in Adams and nearby Cedar Hill, Tennessee. This suggests that a stay at Red River Canoe Rental offers not only outdoor recreation but also an opportunity to explore local historical sites and learn about the region's past. This added dimension can enhance the overall experience for those interested in combining their "camping near me" trip with some cultural exploration.
While the reviews strongly recommend the camping and especially the "Red River kayak" experience ("It's worth every dime"), specific details about the camping facilities themselves are somewhat limited. Information regarding the types of campsites available (e.g., tent sites, RV sites), the presence of amenities like restrooms, showers, fire pits, or picnic tables is not explicitly provided. Local users searching for "camping near me" with specific amenity requirements should contact Red River Canoe Rental directly to inquire about these details to ensure the campground meets their needs.
Similarly, promotional information such as seasonal rates, group discounts, or packages that combine camping with canoe or kayak rentals are not mentioned in the reviews. Local residents interested in such offers should contact Red River Canoe Rental directly at (615) 696-2768 or their mobile number +1 615-696-2768. When calling, it would be advisable to inquire about the operating seasons for the canoe and kayak rentals and shuttle service, as one review indicated these might be seasonal. Understanding the full range of services available during their intended visit is crucial for planning the best "camping near me" experience.
In conclusion, Red River Canoe Rental offers a unique "camping near me" experience in Adams, TN, particularly for those who enjoy river activities like canoeing and kayaking. The friendly and helpful staff, scenic riverfront campsites, and the availability of rentals and a shuttle service (when operational) make it an attractive destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The dedication of the staff to maintaining the facilities, even after challenging environmental conditions, speaks to their commitment to providing a positive experience. Additionally, the proximity to historically significant areas adds another layer of interest to a stay at Red River Canoe Rental. Local users are encouraged to contact them directly for details on campsite amenities, rental availability, seasonal operations, and any potential promotional offers to plan an unforgettable river-based camping adventure.

Red River Canoe Rental Reviews
We decided to camp here when the shuttle service and kayak, canoe rentals were shut down got the season. So I feel it was a less of an experience than I was expecting. Not a bad place, we'll be visiting again, but only when everything is in full operation. The photos I've added, were taken directly in front of my tent overlooking the river. Now we've been when the camp, shuttle service and river was running wide open. The staff was very friendly and helpful. And I have to add that we weren't sure if we could stay because of the flooding in the previous weeks. But the crew GOT 'ER DONE!!!They had all the debris rake out of the way, roads regraded, and countless hours of laborious work to make that happen. We want to say Thank you for a job well done. Not just me, but I speak for our whole group that stayed over Easter Weekend 4/20/2025.We are already anticipating another trip to hang out in the water with y'all.Highly recommended in my opinion.
Apr 23, 2025 · James “BenO” FisherI had an excellent time there camping on the resort. Excellent staff. One of a kind place you'll never forget. If you never been there before I recommend there to camp there. Also to do the Red River kayak. It's worth every dime. The owner is a Good kind man. I highly recommend anybody to come here. Lots of history, especially in the surrounding area of Adams Tennessee in cedar Hill, Tennessee definitely worth coming there. You'll never forget it and you'll want to come back again. Thank you for everything all you did for me being there Jeff. I greatly appreciate everything you did and your staff is absolutely wonderful
Aug 07, 2023 · Christopher SzwedaDid a day kayaking trip. Staff was very friendly but gave zero directions on which boats to use or where to stop. We ended up with two out of our three kayaks with major leaks which required lots of time to stop and dump our boats. Had to patch one up with gum just to make it to our stopping point. I asked for a refund but was only offered a free trip. Check your kayaks very carefully. They’re not in good shape and holes will make your trip less enjoyable. Restrooms were clean.
Jul 15, 2024 · Anna SmithI don't know how my entire life that I recently discovered this place. But it is now my retreat away from life The scenery is absolutely stunning and of course there's one good camping place that is always taken so if you read this make more camping areas by the slopes. The people that camp in the back of the property are usually the ones that are smoking funny things lol I would recommend camping up front for a more family friendly atmosphere. This place is legit
Aug 03, 2023 · Cody TelfordI gave Red River Canoe only a three as it wants to be the best place it can be, but it has a lot to be desired. The shower rooms are not all that is more likely you’re gonna find a snake or a mouse in the bathroom whether it be around the toilet or in the showers if you plan to use the shower room, make sure you take your own shower gel and toilet papers and your own sanitizers, you might even want to clean the bottom of the floor of the shower before ever getting in it. There’s no housekeeping there to keep bathrooms clean so you better hope that people before you have cleaned up. It’s a very muddy place goes without saying the last time I was there there was not even shower drapes up so you didn’t have no privacy in your shower. There was only two showers available at a time and sometimes a few more people trying to take showers the toilet sit directly across from the shower and there wasn’t much privacy for them either There’s really no good ventilation no kind of ceiling fan or anything to help ventilate the air in there so by the time you get done taking your shower, but you’re already pretty sweaty electricity boxes for the campsite if they’re working at all, do you have a tendency to short out and if you don’t have somebody like we have had in the past that knows anything about electricity well, you’re probably not gonna have it throughout your camp, you may have it earlier in the day, but by the time several people packing at night you’re very likely gonna blow a fuse and not have electricity again unless you have somebody that knows what they’re doing so it’s best to have a generator as your back up. Do not wait to get down there to get your goodies from the store because you’ve only got the dollar store up the road and it closes pretty early and pretty much everybody else is done pretty much bought everything that they can from the store so the supplies are pretty low the red river Canoe just got offer any supplies cheap for you to purchase from them so I don’t have a food bar or a place to purchase ice or soda or beer or any of the typical things that you would expect them to have however they do have a great band area and I’m guessing that they normally have a band or some kind of music going on when I’ve been down there it’s been because of Motorcycle event and we have our own karaoke stuff that we bring down there. It’s mostly a grass area so it’s a lot of the grass mud area so it’s a little muddy. Don’t wear your spiky shoes and don’t wear shoes that you don’t expect to get wet even though you’re camping it is not free to do one that is totally separateand just because you are on somebody else’s camping lot you still have to pay a separate price doesn’t matter if you’re sleeping in your car if you’re staying and you’re paying
