O K Camp Ground Introduce
For local residents seeking an affordable and basic "camping near me" option in Tennessee, O K Camp Ground, located at 231 Gifford Pl, Joelton, TN 37080, presents a no-frills choice. While it may lack extensive amenities and has some environmental factors to consider, its affordability and welcoming staff, as highlighted in customer reviews, might appeal to certain campers looking for a budget-friendly stay.
The environment of O K Camp Ground, based on customer feedback, has both advantages and disadvantages for those searching for "camping near me." One significant factor to be aware of is its proximity to the interstate. A reviewer noted that "the rear end of the Campground backs up to it," which can result in noise from passing traffic. For campers sensitive to noise, this is a crucial consideration, and the reviewer advised seeking a lot "closer to the front, near the office area" to potentially mitigate this issue. On the positive side, the campground is described as being "great for our needs" by one reviewer, suggesting it serves a practical purpose for those prioritizing affordability over extensive natural surroundings or a secluded atmosphere. The mention of "neighbors" being "quiet, polite, considerate" indicates a potentially positive social environment within the campground community. However, another reviewer described the campground as "very tight" and "hard to get in and out of," which could be a concern for larger RVs or those who prefer more spacious sites. The same reviewer also noted "trucks going around the campground all night," suggesting potential internal noise in addition to the interstate traffic. The presence of "mostly permanent campers" gives the campground a different feel compared to transient-focused campgrounds, potentially offering a sense of community but also contributing to the tighter layout.
In terms of services and amenities at O K Camp Ground, the reviews suggest a very basic offering, which aligns with its reputation as an affordable option for those seeking "camping near me." One reviewer explicitly stated, "there's not any extra ammentities except for the public restrooms." This indicates that campers should expect minimal facilities beyond the essentials. The public restrooms are mentioned as also serving as "the safe place" during severe weather events like tornado warnings, highlighting a focus on basic safety. While the cleanliness and condition of the restrooms are not detailed, their role as a storm shelter suggests they are a functional necessity. The absence of other amenities like laundry facilities, recreational areas, or a camp store is notable. However, the "office staff are very polite and welcoming," which can significantly enhance the overall experience despite the lack of physical amenities. For those prioritizing budget over extras, O K Camp Ground provides the fundamental services of a campsite and restroom access. Campers should be prepared to be self-sufficient regarding other needs.
The features of O K Camp Ground are primarily centered around its affordability and its role as a basic, no-frills camping option for those searching for "camping near me." The long-term stay possibility, mentioned by a reviewer ("there is no time limit on how long you can stay"), is a unique feature that might appeal to individuals needing an extended, budget-friendly place to park their RV. The welcoming and polite office staff also stand out as a positive feature, contributing to a potentially pleasant, if basic, experience. However, the "very tight" lots and the difficulty in maneuvering, as mentioned by one reviewer, could be a drawback for some, particularly those with larger rigs. The proximity to the interstate, while a source of noise for some sites, could also be seen as a feature providing easy access to transportation routes. The campground's role as a safe shelter during severe weather is another practical, albeit basic, feature that prioritizes the safety of its occupants. For local users seeking a simple and cost-effective camping solution without the expectation of extensive amenities or a pristine natural setting, O K Camp Ground offers a functional option.

In conclusion, for local residents seeking a budget-friendly and basic "camping near me" option in Joelton, TN, O K Camp Ground offers an affordable solution with welcoming staff and the unique possibility of long-term stays. However, potential campers should be aware of its proximity to the interstate, which can result in noise, and the tight layout of the campsites, which might make maneuvering challenging, especially for larger RVs. The amenities are limited to public restrooms, which also serve as a storm shelter. For those prioritizing cost-effectiveness and a functional campsite over extensive amenities and a tranquil natural setting, O K Camp Ground might be a suitable choice. O K Camp Ground Reviews
My only complaints are that it's right off the interstate (the rear end of the Campground backs up to it) and that there's not any extra ammentities except for the public restrooms, which also serves as "the safe place" during bad weather events (tornado warnings, etc)...... It's been great for our needs. If you're looking for the most affordable, basic Campground this is the one I'd suggest. Office staff are very polite and welcoming, all of our "neighbors" are fine (quiet, polite, considerate....) We haven't had any problems like that at all. I'd give it a 5 star if the lots were a little larger but it works. To avoid interstate noise I'd advise finding a lot closer to the front, near the office area. Seems to be a lot of ppl here that stay here permanently so unlike most campgrounds now, there is no time limit on how long you can stay. Safe & Happy travels to ya! Stay safe amongst all the non-driving "drivers" out there.#RVLife#HappyCampers

Apr 12, 2025 · Brian MosherVery neat and clean. Wonderful place to stop off dump and pick up water. Excellent price for a spot to stay during fanfare, CMAs, ect when prices soar for accommodations everywhere. And only 20 minutes from downtown Music City USA. I love hide aways so there you have it.
Oct 03, 2024 · Torrey HowardIt was nice. As I walked around I understood the highway noise, but I stayed close to the main office so I didn’t hear the traffic noise. Staff was great and bathrooms where clean and accessible at all time with code. Overall my month stay went well everything I wanted was a 15 minute drive into Nashville.
Jun 19, 2024 · F (Jabrowny)This place is a mud slide dump. Standing water and mud for days after raining. Rates are very high comparable to other campgrounds, taking into consideration the grounds, no amenities, noise level of interstate and semis that park behind the restaurant like a truck stop. You have to share power source with a neighbor. LOW spikes in electricity causing damage to appliances and circuit breaker. They don't abide by rv codes and space campers apart the required 15 feet. Staff is very unfriendly and owner doesn't abide by legal or ethical conduct in business matters, conduct or park regulations.
