Redbud Bay Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience near Claremore, Oklahoma, Redbud Bay Campground, located off OK-88, offers a small and secluded option with a picturesque lakeside setting. Based on recent reviews from fellow campers, this campground presents a mix of appealing natural features and more limited amenities that potential visitors should be aware of when planning their trip. The campground's small size and rocky shoreline contribute to its unique character, making it suitable for certain types of campers while presenting challenges for others.
Environment: Redbud Bay Campground is situated along a rocky shoreline, offering what campers describe as a "great view," likely of the adjacent body of water. The presence of a rocky shoreline suggests potential for fishing directly from the shore and a natural, less manicured landscape. The campground is described as "secluded" and "small," with only about 10-11 campsites, indicating a more intimate and potentially quieter camping experience compared to larger campgrounds. This limited number of sites could appeal to those seeking a more private getaway. However, the reviews also note that the sites are "very close to one another," which might reduce the sense of spaciousness within the campground itself. The natural environment appears to be the primary draw, with the lake and rocky terrain being key features. It's worth noting that the terrain is described as "rocky with some steep areas," which might influence accessibility and the suitability of the campground for different age groups and mobility levels.
Services: Redbud Bay Campground offers a relatively basic level of services, as indicated by the camper reviews. The positive aspects include the availability of "Water & Electric hookups" at the campsites, which is a significant convenience for RV and camper owners. A "vault toilet" is provided, and while described as "old hole in ground style," it is noted to be "clean," which is a crucial aspect of basic sanitation. However, the campground lacks a "shower house," which is a significant drawback for those planning longer stays or who prefer showering facilities. There is also "no dump station" on-site, requiring campers with RVs or trailers to drive to Hawthorn to dump their waste. The reviews explicitly state that the toilets are not modern and that there are no showers available at the campground itself. Despite these limitations, one reviewer noted that the "camp attendant, Julia, was very nice and helpful," suggesting a positive aspect of the on-site management.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Redbud Bay Campground offers the convenience of water and electric hookups in a secluded lakeside setting. However, the lack of showers and a dump station, along with the primitive toilet facilities, are important considerations for comfort and practicality, especially for longer stays or those with RVs.
Features: The features of Redbud Bay Campground, based on the user reviews, present a mixed bag of natural attractions and amenity limitations:
- Great View: The scenic view of the lake is consistently highlighted as a major positive aspect of the campground.
- Rocky Shoreline: The rocky shoreline offers a natural aesthetic and potential for fishing directly from the shore. It also seems to be an engaging feature for older children who enjoy exploring and catching "crawling things."
- Secluded and Small: The limited number of campsites (around 11) contributes to a more secluded and potentially quieter camping experience, appealing to those seeking a more intimate setting.
- Water & Electric Hookups: The availability of water and electric hookups at the campsites is a significant convenience for RVs and campers, allowing for a more comfortable stay with essential utilities.
However, the campground also has several notable limitations:
- Unlevel Sites: A significant drawback is that "all sites are unlevel," with specific mention of Sites 1 & 2 being "very sloped," making it challenging to level campers and potentially impacting comfort.
- Close Proximity of Sites: The campsites are "very close to one another," which may reduce privacy and the feeling of spaciousness.
- Old-Style Vault Toilet: The toilet facility is described as an "old hole in ground style," which, while clean, may not be preferred by all campers.
- No Shower House: The absence of showers is a significant inconvenience, especially for longer stays.
- No Dump Station: The lack of a dump station requires RV and trailer owners to make a separate trip to Hawthorn for waste disposal.
- Potentially Not Toddler Friendly: The "Rocky with some steep areas" terrain is noted as potentially not being suitable for toddlers due to safety concerns.
- Limited Activities: One reviewer stated, "Nothing to do at this campground. Maybe fishing," suggesting a lack of organized activities or additional amenities beyond the natural setting.
For local users considering Redbud Bay Campground, the great view and the availability of water and electric hookups are definite pros. However, the unlevel sites, close proximity of campsites, lack of showers and a dump station, and the rocky terrain are important factors to weigh based on individual needs and preferences.
Promotional Information: To attract local users, Redbud Bay Campground might emphasize the following aspects:
- Enjoy Secluded Lakeside Camping: Highlight the small size and potentially quieter atmosphere of the campground for those seeking a peaceful retreat.
- Picturesque Views of the Lake: Promote the "great view" as a key attraction for nature lovers and those who appreciate scenic beauty.
- Convenient Water & Electric Hookups: Emphasize the availability of these essential utilities for RV and camper owners.
- Ideal for Fishing Enthusiasts: Promote the rocky shoreline and potential for fishing directly from the campground.
- A Natural Escape near Claremore: Position the campground as a conveniently located getaway for local residents looking to enjoy the outdoors without traveling far.
- Budget-Friendly Option: If the pricing reflects the limited amenities, it could be promoted as a more affordable camping option.
- Managed by a Helpful Attendant: Highlight the positive feedback about the camp attendant, Julia, as a point of good service.
However, to maintain objectivity and manage expectations, any promotional material should also implicitly or explicitly acknowledge the limited amenities, such as the lack of showers and a dump station, and the nature of the toilet facilities. Mentioning the rocky and potentially uneven terrain would also be important for ensuring that visitors are well-prepared.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Redbud Bay Campground offers a secluded lakeside experience with the convenience of water and electric hookups. The great views and rocky shoreline are appealing natural features. However, potential campers should be aware of the unlevel sites, close proximity to neighbors, basic toilet facilities, and the absence of showers and a dump station. This campground might be best suited for shorter stays or for campers who are well-equipped and prioritize a natural setting with basic utility hookups over extensive amenities. Consider the rocky terrain and lack of toddler-friendly features if traveling with young children.

Redbud Bay Campground Reviews
All sites are unlevel and very close to one another. About 10 sites. Vault toilet but clean. Very small campground. Camp attendant, Julia, was very nice and helpful. Nothing to do at this campground. Maybe fishing.

Oct 22, 2024 · josh hathawayThe view is wonderful! Our site had a fire ring, picnic table, post grill, and big shade trees. Really the only drawback was the restrooms are the smelly outhouse style and no showers. Still, we'll definitely visit again. It's so peaceful, the rates are great, and the trees are so nice! Also, yes they are dog friendly.

May 04, 2025 · Bryan EdensThis little campground is a gem. While it's missing some amenities (showers, dump station), it was a quiet oasis for a busy holiday weekend.
