Rising Sun Campground Introduce
Looking for a conveniently located "camping near me" option that serves as a gateway to the breathtaking landscapes of East Glacier and Glacier National Park? Consider Rising Sun Campground, situated in East, Browning, MT 59417, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, Rising Sun offers a variety of accommodation types, essential amenities, and stunning natural surroundings, making it a compelling choice for a diverse range of campers and travelers.
The environment of Rising Sun Campground is characterized by its proximity to the majestic mountains of the Glacier National Park area. Reviewers consistently mention "great views of the mountains," highlighting the scenic beauty that campers can expect to enjoy from their campsites or cabins. One camper specifically noted that their campsite was "right next to the mountain," offering particularly "pretty and dreamy" sunrises and sunsets. The overall area is described as "quiet," suggesting a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere where visitors can truly immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.
Rising Sun Campground offers a range of accommodation options to suit different needs and preferences. For those seeking a more comfortable and historic stay, the campground features "small but nice cabins that were built in 1941." These cabins provide the convenience of "our own bathrooms and a large wooden storage cabinet," offering a step up from traditional camping while retaining a rustic charm. For those with their own lodging, the campground also accommodates tent and RV campers, as evidenced by a reviewer who arrived early and secured an "empty site."
In terms of services, Rising Sun Campground provides several key amenities for the convenience of its guests. One notable feature is the "good restaurant called Two Dog Flats" located on-site. This restaurant offers "very tasty and healthy food options," although it is noted that the prices range from "moderate to high." Having a restaurant within the campground can be a significant convenience, especially for those who prefer not to cook all their meals or who arrive late and need a quick bite.
For basic necessities, camping supplies, and souvenirs, there is a "camp store" at Rising Sun. However, a crucial point of feedback is that "all of the prices in the store are extremely high!" This serves as an important advisory for campers to "be sure to stock up on everything beforehand" to avoid the higher costs at the on-site store. Despite the pricing, the availability of a store for basic needs can be helpful in a pinch.
Cleanliness and essential facilities are also mentioned in the reviews. One camper found their site to be "clean," and noted that the "restrooms have water and it's fairly clean with paper towels." These are important aspects for a comfortable camping experience, indicating that basic hygiene needs are met.
A significant feature that consistently receives positive feedback is the "staff at Rising Sun," who are described as "very helpful and friendly." This positive interaction with staff can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
While not a service offered directly by the campground, the reviews also provide important information about the surrounding area. The mention of a "picnic area across the road" being temporarily closed due to visits from a "mother bear and cub" serves as a reminder that the campground is located in bear country. Campers should be aware of this and take necessary precautions regarding food storage and wildlife safety. This also highlights the potential for wildlife sightings in the area, although not directly within the campground itself in this instance.
Promotional aspects of Rising Sun Campground can be gleaned from the positive reviews. The "great views of the mountains" and the "quiet" atmosphere are strong selling points for those seeking a peaceful and scenic retreat. The availability of both cabins and campsites caters to a wider range of travelers, offering flexibility in accommodation. The presence of a restaurant with "tasty and healthy food options" adds a level of convenience and appeal, despite the pricing. The friendly and helpful staff also contribute to a positive overall impression.
The reviewer who secured a clean campsite for only "$20 per night" highlights the potential for affordability, although it's important to note that this might have been a specific situation due to the early arrival and availability. It's advisable to inquire about current pricing as it may vary.
For local users looking for "camping near me" in the East Glacier area, Rising Sun Campground offers a compelling combination of scenic beauty, varied accommodation options, and essential amenities. The availability of cabins provides a unique alternative to traditional camping, while the tent and RV sites cater to those with their own setups. The on-site restaurant and camp store (with the caveat about pricing) add convenience, and the friendly staff ensure a welcoming experience.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the presence of wildlife, particularly bears, in the surrounding area and take appropriate safety measures. It's also wise to stock up on supplies before arriving to avoid the higher prices at the camp store. Despite these considerations, the overall positive feedback regarding the views, quiet atmosphere, and helpful staff makes Rising Sun Campground a strong contender for those exploring the East Glacier region.

Jul 30, 2024 · Tom SalemIt was great. We reached there at 4 in the morning. Luckily someone was leaving. We didn't have to wait in the gate as we were there so early, we directly went to an empty site on Saturday morning. The site was clean. Restrooms have water and it's fairly clean with paper towels. Our campsite was right next to the mountain so the sunrise and sunset was very pretty and dreamy. The price was only $20 per night so very cheap compared to other places.
Aug 30, 2022 · Prithvi AwasthiGreat campground if you are working your way from the west side of the park to the east side as we were doing. It's close to Logan's Pass and the hike to St. Mary / Virginia Falls. It's also not as difficult to get a spot as is the case of Many Glacier. The only negative is while our campsite was nicely tucked in off the road, it did directly back up closely against another site.
Dec 17, 2020 · David RigglemanYou can't beat staying in the park. This is the closest campground to Logan Pass which helped us get there early in the morning before it got busy and the parking lot turned into a madhouse. We saw plenty of wildlife, even a bear. That means you have to keep a very clean camp. We kept everything in our car except our clothes which we kept in the tent. The park service is very protective of its bears and for good reason. Don't give a bear any excuse to be sniffing around your campsite. The sites are a little close and a little small, but we spent most of our time hiking and exploring the park so that wasn't a big deal. We also appreciated the showers behind the nearby camp store. You get 8 minutes of hot water for $2.50.I would definitely recommend this campground, and I would stay again. I posted some pics of the view from our site.
Jul 20, 2016 · David StarrAwesome campground with good views. A close drive to many popular things including Logan pass and going to the sun road. Come early for the best chance at getting a spot. Bathrooms are nice. If you want to shower you gotta but tokens at the gift shop near by
