River Rock Campground Introduce
For those searching for "camping near me" in the Hesperia, Michigan vicinity, River Rock Campground, located at 155 W Michigan Ave, Hesperia, MI 49421, USA, offers a riverside camping experience. With contact numbers (989) 402-3025 and +1 989-402-3025, the campground is accessible for inquiries and reservations. However, recent customer feedback provides valuable insights into the potential experience at this location.
One recurring theme in the reviews is the complexity and potential for issues with the reservation process. According to one guest, securing a site took three weeks, and subsequently, the reserved campsites were changed multiple times by the owners. This experience highlights the importance of clear and consistent communication during the booking process and suggests that potential campers may need to exercise patience and meticulous record-keeping when making reservations at River Rock Campground.
Furthermore, the same reviewer encountered confusion regarding their assigned campsite upon arrival, with two different individuals incorrectly directing them. Resolving this issue required the guest to provide evidence of their confirmed booking. This situation underscores the need for improved internal communication and clear site management to ensure a smooth check-in process for arriving campers.
Another point of concern raised by the same guest involved an interaction regarding "open food containers," specifically mentioning a bag of chips on a picnic table. The subsequent communication with the campground about this negative experience reportedly resulted in laughter from the staff. Such feedback suggests a potential disconnect in customer service and a lack of attentiveness to guest concerns, which prospective campers may want to consider.
In another review, a camper who secured a spot on the river described it as the "best" location within the campground. This suggests that the riverside sites may offer a more desirable camping experience compared to other areas. However, this reviewer also pointed out several inconveniences. Notably, they mentioned that non-seasonal sites were covered in goose poop. This indicates a potential issue with ground maintenance in certain areas of the campground, which could impact the cleanliness and overall enjoyment of those sites.
Additionally, this review highlighted the absence of essential amenities such as a bathhouse and a sanitation station. The lack of a bathhouse means that campers relying on on-site facilities for showers and restrooms will need to make alternative arrangements. Similarly, the absence of a sanitation station for RVs could pose a significant inconvenience for those traveling with recreational vehicles requiring waste disposal. The campground does offer a local service for tank cleaning at a cost of $50, which provides a solution but adds an extra expense for RV campers.
Considering the limited information available and the nature of the existing reviews, it is challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of all services and features offered at River Rock Campground. The feedback primarily focuses on the reservation process, site management, customer service interactions, and the availability (or lack thereof) of certain amenities. The positive mention of riverside sites suggests that the location itself may have appeal, but potential campers should be aware of the reported issues.
Given the experiences shared by previous guests, individuals considering River Rock Campground for their "camping near me" needs in Hesperia should be prepared for a potentially lengthy or complicated reservation process. It would be prudent to maintain thorough records of all booking confirmations and communications with the campground. Furthermore, campers should inquire specifically about their assigned site prior to arrival to minimize any confusion. The reported lack of a bathhouse and sanitation station is a significant factor for tent campers and RV owners to consider when planning their trip and ensuring they have adequate alternatives.
While the riverside locations are noted as being preferable, the issue of goose poop on non-seasonal sites suggests that the quality and cleanliness of individual campsites may vary. It would be advisable to inquire about the specific conditions of the intended campsite before finalizing a reservation. The reported interaction with staff regarding open food and the subsequent lack of concern for a negative guest experience raises questions about the overall customer service standards at the campground.
As there is no mention of specific promotional offers or discounts in the provided information, it is recommended that interested individuals contact River Rock Campground directly at (989) 402-3025 or +1 989-402-3025 to inquire about any current specials or packages. Due to the limited and somewhat negative nature of the available reviews, potential campers should weigh these factors carefully against the allure of a riverside location when making their decision about "camping near me" in the Hesperia area. It may be beneficial to explore other campgrounds in the vicinity to compare amenities, services, and customer feedback before committing to a reservation at River Rock Campground.

River Rock Campground Reviews
Took me 3 weeks to reserve a site. Owners then moved my reserved campsites multiple times. Then I had 2 different people tell me I was at the wrong campsite (had to show my messages with the owner). Then when they found I was at the right campsite proceeded to tell me I couldn't have "open food containers". AKA a bag of chips on a picnic table? When I contacted them about my terrible experience they laughed at me.
Dec 31, 2024 · jon vIf you can reserve a spot on the river it is best. A few things that were inconvenient: goose poop covered nonseasonal sites, no bathhouse and no sanitation station. They did offer a local service to come clean our tanks for $50.
Jul 21, 2024 · Nicole BaylesGreat environment very kind and fun people learned a lot while there enjoyed a chili cook off fished for salmon right on the river very beautiful and tranquil environment
Oct 24, 2024 · Junior MorrisI personally don't have a plot there, but my family does. It is a very nice place, river to fish, and you're allowed to actually play music and have a few drinks past 11. Most places have a curfew and enforce them, River Rock lets you do your thing as long as you're mindful of your neighbors. Highly recommend if you want a weekend trip or a seasonal place to stay.
May 08, 2023 · sage espinozaI have tried to book a weekend for next July, for 3 months!!It's for a large group.. 4 of us have tried several times!! We have asked:Do we have to wait, to book? Can we speak to someone? NO REPLY!!!. No one answers their phone! Nor their emails!!I finally asked on their FB page, explaining our circumstances... they replied: 'will follow up'... What.? When?? How can we PLAN to go to this CG if they don't communicate.??Extreme arrogance!!! They don't need campers for the weekends!! They are all set with their seasonals!!!If you're trying to PLAN a trip here?... forget it!! They are way too busy to help you out!! And way ABOVE even acknowledging you exist!!! Pathetic!!UP DATE!! They read my review and contacted me through messenger, Explaining they had problems finding staffing… And are in the midst of expanding their campground. They were apologetic and welcomed us to come stay.
