Located at 1540 ME-106, Riverbend Campground has garnered rave reviews for its spacious, well-maintained riverfront sites and a plethora of amenities that cater to both short-term visitors and long-term seasonal campers. If you're dreaming of waking up to the soothing sounds of a river, enjoying a friendly community, and having access to convenient services, Riverbend Campground could be your ideal local retreat.
Environment: Riverfront Serenity and Meticulous Grooming
The standout feature of Riverbend Campground's environment is undoubtedly its "huge riverfront" sites. Imagine having direct access to the water, allowing for picturesque views and the tranquil ambiance that a riverside location provides. Even for those who don't secure a waterfront spot, the campground offers "special riverfront" access, ensuring that all guests can enjoy the beauty and serenity of the river. The sites themselves are described as "well-groomed," indicating a high level of care and maintenance, contributing to a pleasant and comfortable camping experience.
Beyond the riverfront, the campground boasts a "big nice playground area," making it an excellent choice for families with children. This dedicated space allows kids to play and burn off energy in a safe and enjoyable environment. The presence of mature, well-kept longer-term setups, including porches, decks, and screen rooms, further suggests a stable and pleasant community atmosphere where campers take pride in their spaces. The overall impression is one of a well-cared-for and inviting environment that blends natural beauty with thoughtful landscaping.
The reviews consistently use words like "quiet, peaceful, serene, inviting," painting a picture of a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. The availability of handy dumpsters for trash and clean laundromats (two different ones) further contributes to the convenience and comfort of the campground, whether you're staying for a weekend or an extended period.
Services and Amenities: Comprehensive and Convenient
Riverbend Campground offers a comprehensive range of services and amenities designed to cater to the needs of all campers. For RV owners, the availability of water and electric hookups at the "huge riverfront" sites is a significant advantage. Additionally, the campground offers a "great price on propane fill for RV" with "no line" at the propane station, making it easy and efficient to manage your RV's needs. The presence of an accessible dump station, also without lines, adds to the convenience for RV travelers.
For those in need of supplies, the campground store has a "good selection, including milk, eggs, water, ice cream," ensuring that essential items are readily available without having to leave the premises. This is particularly convenient for campers who prefer to stay on-site and enjoy the campground amenities.
Unique to Riverbend Campground is the availability of "RV repair if you need it," as mentioned by a seasonal camper who now works there. This on-site service provides an invaluable resource for RV owners, offering peace of mind and convenience should any issues arise during their stay.
Basic necessities such as good phone signal and even the reception of "half dozen TV stations without an antenna" add to the comfort and connectivity for those who desire it. The presence of two clean laundromats ensures that even during longer stays, campers can easily take care of their laundry needs.
Features and Activities: River Fun and Community Spirit
The primary feature of Riverbend Campground is its stunning riverfront location, offering opportunities for various water-related activities (though not explicitly detailed in the reviews, one can infer possibilities like fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the riverside). The "special riverfront" access for non-waterfront sites ensures that everyone can partake in the beauty of the river.
The strong sense of community is another significant feature. The reviews highlight that "everybody super friendly," and the presence of many longer-term residents who return annually, setting up comfortable spaces, contributes to a welcoming and neighborly atmosphere. The fact that "regulars start living there around memorial day weekend and exit around Columbus day, many keeping their RVs there," speaks volumes about the desirability and community spirit of the campground.
The playground area makes it a fantastic destination for families with children, providing a dedicated space for fun and interaction. The overall quiet and peaceful ambiance makes it ideal for those seeking relaxation and a break from the noise of everyday life.
The availability of a place to park trailers or boats suggests that the campground caters to those who enjoy recreational activities beyond just camping, making it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area by water or land.

Riverbend Campground Reviews
Super awesome place! Huge riverfront well-groomed sites with water and electric. Even special riverfront for those that didn't get a waterfront site. Big nice playground area. Great price on propane fill for RV. No line at dump station or propane. Everybody super friendly. Got half dozen TV stations without an antenna. Good phone signal. Many longer term people with porches, decks, screen rooms - allwell kept. Two different laundromats, both clean. Dumpster handy for trash. Store had good selection, including milk, eggs, water , ice cream... Quiet, peaceful, serene, inviting, an absolute delight. Place to park trailers or boats. The regulars start living there around memorial day weekend and exit around Columbus day, many keeping their RVs there. Tempting place to spend summers there instead of Florida...
Sep 29, 2019 · Julie PhillipsSuch large beautiful sites. Well manicured, clean, and friendly. They have all the supplies you may need at the store and propane on premises as well as RV repair if you need it. I've loved being a seasonal camper for over 3 years and now love working here to, it is home.
Jun 16, 2017 · Laura DominiczakFewer sites than alot of places, but don't like wall to wall anyway ample space and grassy has a store and pool.I can usually guarantee to spot some sort of wildlife on the river which is my main interest in camping, like to kayak and bird watch , especially for herons which I have always been lucky to spot.
Jul 13, 2023 · Carol DeckerHave had seasonal campsite here for two years always a good time people are nice
Apr 29, 2025 · Christopher DavisWe're always a little nervous trying out a new to us campground but Riverbend exceeded our expectations. There were 2 pleasant ladies to check campers in. Our site was HUGE and right on the river. The entire campground was extremely clean, and well kept. We didn't use the bath house/restrooms, so I can't testify to the cleanliness of those. However if they are maintained as well as the lawns and green spaces, I'm sure they're spotless! My husband loved being able to fish right from our site, and we enjoyed watching the boats go by on a regular basis.
