For local users searching for "camping near me" in a location that combines convenience with cleanliness, Shelburne Camping Area, situated at 4385 Shelburne Rd, Shelburne, VT 05482, USA, is a noteworthy option. You can reach them at (802) 985-2540 or +1 802-985-2540 for inquiries or reservations. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground is praised for its cleanliness, convenient location near attractions, and helpful staff, making it a strong contender for your next camping trip in the Burlington and Shelburne area.
The environment of Shelburne Camping Area benefits from its proximity to various points of interest. Located on Shelburne Road, it offers easy access to "all kinds of stuff on Shelburne Street," suggesting nearby amenities, restaurants, and shops. The campground is also conveniently situated near Burlington, Shelburne Farms, and the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, making it a great base for exploring these local attractions. Within the campground itself, the spaces are described as "large enough to move around" and "semi-private from your neighbors," indicating a comfortable and somewhat secluded camping experience. However, it's also noted that the campground is close to the highway and private residences, so some highway noise should be expected. Despite this, the overall environment is conducive to an enjoyable stay, especially given its central location to many desirable destinations for those seeking "camping near me" with access to more than just nature.
In terms of services, Shelburne Camping Area shines particularly in its commitment to cleanliness. Multiple reviewers explicitly mention that the bathrooms are "super clean" and "probably the cleanest camp bathrooms" they've ever seen. Hot showers are available, and the water is potable for refilling water bottles and brushing teeth (though dishwashing in the bathroom is discouraged). Ice and firewood are available for purchase, with an after-hours payment system where you pay in the morning. However, one reviewer noted instances where the ice cooler was unexpectedly locked in the late afternoon, which could be inconvenient. Firewood is also available at the office for a fee, though one guest found a better deal in town. For those planning to cook over a fire, a grate can be obtained from the office. Check-in is reported to be easy and convenient. The front office staff, particularly Chris, is mentioned as being "nothing but helpful." While cell and WiFi signals were reported as weak or non-existent by one reviewer, the campground does provide a WiFi password, suggesting that service might be available but potentially unreliable. Overall, the focus on cleanliness and the helpfulness of the staff are significant service highlights for those looking for "camping near me" with good facilities.
Several features of Shelburne Camping Area contribute to a positive guest experience. The exceptional cleanliness of the bathrooms is consistently praised. The spacious and semi-private campsites offer a comfortable stay. The availability of hot showers and potable water adds to the convenience. The option to purchase ice and firewood on-site is also beneficial. The campground's location, being close to Shelburne Street amenities and attractions like Burlington and Shelburne Farms, is a major advantage for those wanting to explore the area. The helpfulness of the front office staff, particularly Chris, ensures a smooth and pleasant stay. However, potential drawbacks include possible highway noise due to the proximity to the highway, the potential for late-night noise from arriving RVs, and the unreliable cell and WiFi signals. The occasional locking of the ice cooler in the late afternoon was also noted as an inconvenience by one guest.
The overwhelmingly positive comments regarding cleanliness and the helpfulness of the staff serve as strong promotional points for Shelburne Camping Area. The convenience of its location near Burlington and other attractions also makes it an attractive option for those searching for "camping near me" who want to combine outdoor living with access to local amenities and sights. The repeated recommendations from satisfied guests highlight the positive experience one can expect here. While there are minor drawbacks mentioned, the overall sentiment is that Shelburne Camping Area provides a worthwhile and enjoyable camping experience.
To provide a balanced view, potential campers should be aware of the possibility of highway noise and the potentially weak cell and WiFi signals. The occasional issue with ice availability in the late afternoon is also something to consider. However, the consistently praised cleanliness, spacious sites, convenient location, and helpful staff appear to outweigh these drawbacks for many visitors. If you prioritize cleanliness and a location with easy access to both natural and urban attractions when looking for "camping near me," Shelburne Camping Area could be an excellent fit.

The consistently highlighted cleanliness of the facilities, coupled with the spacious campsites and helpful staff, makes for a comfortable stay. Its proximity to Shelburne Street amenities and popular attractions like Shelburne Farms and Burlington adds significant value. The ease of check-in and the availability of essential camping supplies like ice and firewood further enhance the convenience.
In conclusion, if you're looking for "camping near me" near Burlington and Shelburne, VT, consider Shelburne Camping Area. Shelburne Camping Area Reviews
i've stayed here a few times now while traveling for work preferring the van life thing over an over priced hotel. This place is definitely convenient being prepared close to all kinds of stuff on Shelburne Street. The campground itself is nice, the spaces are large enough to move around and semi private from your neighbors. The bathrooms are super clean and the shower is hot. There is ice and firewood available after hours, you just pay in the mornings. However a few times the ice cooler would be randomly locked when I got back after work at around 5PM, so kind of disappointing to have to choose between throwing away the food in my cooler or driving 10 minutes back down Shelburne to get ice. Chris in the front office has been nothing but helpful. I will definitely stay here every time I am working near Burlington. All in all 10/10 highly recommended.
Nov 11, 2024 · nuclear pastaWe had an enjoyable stay. The bathrooms were probably the cleanest camp bathrooms I’ve ever seen - they truly must pride themselves on cleanliness. The water is hot for showers and drinkable for refilling a water bottle, brushing teeth (they ask you not to wash dishes in the bathroom, bring water for cooking/dishes). Camping spots are close together but there are trees in between for privacy. Check in is easy and convenient. Firewood is available at the office for $8 a crate, but we found a better deal in town by asking around. Make sure you pick up a grate from the office if you plan to cook over the fire. Neighbors were quiet except for a few large RVs arriving at night and making a lot of noise as they struggled to park in the dark. The campground is in a great location near Burlington and Shelburne farms, as well as the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. That said, it is still close to the highway and private residences, so do expect highway noise. Someone in a nearby private residence started their leaf blower at 7am on a Sunday but the campground has no control over that. We got no cell signal or WiFi signal during our stay although WiFi password was provided, download your maps ahead of time. Overall, we would stay again and recommend this campground for its convenience and superb cleanliness.
Oct 25, 2024 · A NWe had a wonderful stay in a 2 room Kitchenette in mid August. The cottage was even nicer than the pictures, spacious and very clean. A great deal for the money. Location is perfect - nice area and so close to Shelburne Farms and the Shelburne Museum. Highly recommend. We would stay again.
Aug 28, 2024 · Sarah B.Had a wonderful time in mid August 2024 in a class A. We loved the friendly staff and the layout of the sites. Most sites had tall bushes or trees separating them giving a sense of privacy and seclusion. The bathhouse is so clean and nicely decorated. 2 laundry rooms. It’s quiet and has a very nice pool. Sites are level and most have full hook ups. They have a few cabins too but I didn’t see inside of them.I didn’t take any photos, but I did make a YouTube video with a tour of the park.https://youtu.be/r0bIhTbDvho?si=B3wK7q-jeh1TR4Pv
Aug 23, 2024 · Inspired2RVWhat a nice little campground located just outside of Burlington along the main highway. We found our reservations perfectly & although the office was unstaffed during our stay, we were able to enjoy the site to it's fullest. About the only gripe was the fact our site was pretty soggy & muddy but that's to be expected this time of year & we enjoyed every moment. The nice little diner within walking distance is a wonderful bonus - we'll be back for sure!
