If your search for "camping near me" has you dreaming of lakeside views and a welcoming atmosphere, Malletts Bay Campground in Colchester, Vermont, might be the perfect destination. Situated at 88 Malletts Bay Campground, Colchester, VT 05446, USA, this campground offers a beautiful setting right across the road from the stunning Lake Champlain. You can reach them at (802) 863-6980 or +1 802-863-6980 for reservations and inquiries.
The environment of Malletts Bay Campground is clearly one of its standout features. Located directly across from the expansive Lake Champlain, campers can expect easy access to the lake and its scenic beauty. Reviews highlight the "lovely setting of Lake Champlain" and describe it as a "very beautiful spot." This proximity to the water suggests opportunities for various lakeside activities, although specific details about direct lake access from the campground itself (e.g., private beach, boat launch) would require further investigation. The generally positive feedback regarding the campground's ambiance, with mentions of it not being "too crowded" and the campers being "quiet," indicates a potentially peaceful and relaxing environment. The location in Colchester, Vermont, further suggests a setting surrounded by the natural beauty that the state is known for, likely including pleasant views and a generally tranquil atmosphere.
Based on the provided reviews, Malletts Bay Campground fosters a strong sense of community. Seasonal campers describe it as a "close knit community" where they "feel like family." This suggests a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, which can significantly enhance the camping experience, especially for those looking for a social and supportive environment. The staff is also mentioned as being "friendly" and "always helpful," indicating a commitment to guest satisfaction and a well-managed facility.
In terms of services, the reviews offer some valuable insights. The presence of "restrooms" that are "nice and clean" and a "hot" shower are positive indicators of well-maintained basic amenities. However, one reviewer noted that the shower could have had "a little more water pressure." The mention of a "tent spot with electric" confirms that at least some campsites are equipped with electrical hookups, which is a significant convenience for tent campers wanting to power devices or use small appliances. It also implies that RV sites with more comprehensive hookups (water, sewage, electricity) are likely available, although this is not explicitly stated in the provided information. To get a complete picture of the services offered, including the availability of water and sewage hookups, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, a camp store, or recreational amenities, further research through online platforms or direct contact with the campground is recommended.
The features of Malletts Bay Campground appear to be strongly tied to its location and community feel. Its prime location "right across the road from Lake Champlain" is a major feature, offering potential lake views and easy access to the shoreline. The "close knit community" atmosphere is another unique feature that sets it apart, suggesting a more personal and engaging camping experience compared to larger, more impersonal campgrounds. The quiet environment, as noted by a reviewer, can also be considered a desirable feature for those seeking a peaceful retreat. While the reviews mention a specific "tent spot" being "perfectly located," details about the variety of campsites (e.g., wooded vs. open, waterfront access) and other potential features like fire pits, picnic tables, or on-site recreational activities (e.g., playground, sports areas) are not provided in the given information.

Malletts Bay Campground Reviews
Seasonal campers.. Lovely setting of Lake Champlain. Campground is a close knit community. Friendly staff always helpful. We feel like family here .
Nov 17, 2024 · Diane LamarMallet's Bay Campground is a very beautiful spot . Right across the road from Lake Champlain, it was not too crowded, the campers were quiet and our tent spot was perfectly located. The restrooms were nice and clean, the shower was hot, although it could have had a little more water pressure. A bit pricey for a tent spot with electric but worth it I think.
Jun 16, 2024 · Tandy StanleySome trashy guests / residents were loud, drunk, standing naked at the entrance of the restroom. Not only that, the campsite was infested with mosquitoes!! As soon as we exited the car, they are all over us. This essentially ruined my week long trip to New England and Canada. It is not the fault of the staff (very kind!) But I will never come to Vermont during the summer months, ever!
Aug 04, 2024 · Michael M.We didn't camp here but we swam in the pool, played at the playground, and skateboarded at the little skate park all for $5/each (for the pool). There's also tennis courts and a great covered area for eating with a few grills. Plus the backdrop of Mallets Bay was beautiful. Plan on returning:)
Aug 08, 2023 · Loryn KemptonThis campground was a great, unexpected gem for our one night stay. There were no frills or thrills, but the staff and campers were all very friendly. The thing that earned it 5 stars was the bathroom! It was the cleanest bathroom, never mind a campsite bathroom. I took an amazing shower with hot water and felt so fresh. Better than any camp bathroom I’ve ever been to. If you need somewhere to stay on your way through Burlington, this is a great place. Rates were good too.
