The campground can be contacted at (269) 686-9088 or via mobile phone at +1 269-686-9088. Notably, the provided information indicates an affordable nightly camping fee of $17, along with a $5 day use trail fee for those not camping overnight but wishing to utilize the trails.
The environment at Silver Creek County Park/Campground appears to be characterized by its natural and somewhat rustic setting. One reviewer describes it as a "great rustic horse camp," suggesting that the campground caters specifically to those camping with horses. This implies the presence of amenities suitable for horses, such as hitching posts or potentially even stabling areas, although this is not explicitly stated. The spaciousness of the campsites is also highlighted, with a mention of "well spaced room between sites," which is a significant advantage for campers seeking privacy and a less crowded experience. The presence of 7 miles of horse trails within the county park itself, along with access to "many more" trails in the attached state park, strongly suggests an environment rich in natural beauty and opportunities for outdoor exploration, particularly for horseback riding and hiking enthusiasts.
In terms of services, the reviews provide some insight into the facilities available at Silver Creek County Park/Campground. One camper noted that the "vault toilets were the least buggies I've ever seen and the water pumps work!" This indicates the presence of basic but functional amenities. Vault toilets are typical for more rustic campgrounds, and the positive comment about their condition suggests they are well-maintained. The mention of working water pumps is also a fundamental service for campers needing access to potable water. Given the description as a "rustic horse camp," it's likely that the campground offers basic camping facilities without extensive modern amenities like full hookups for RVs. Tent camping is almost certainly accommodated, given the nature of rustic campgrounds. However, specific details regarding the availability of electrical hookups, shower facilities, or other amenities common in more developed campgrounds are not provided in the current information.
The features of Silver Creek County Park/Campground are particularly centered around its trail system and suitability for horse camping. The availability of 7 miles of horse trails within the county park is a significant draw for equestrians. Furthermore, the crucial feature of being attached to a state park expands the trail network considerably, offering "many more" miles for riding and potentially hiking. This seamless access to a larger trail system is a unique and valuable feature for those looking to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy extended outdoor activities. The affordability of camping at $17 per night and the nominal $5 day use trail fee make it an attractive option for budget-conscious outdoor enthusiasts. The positive feedback regarding the condition of the vault toilets and the functionality of the water pumps suggests a basic but well-maintained infrastructure.
Considering the emphasis on horse camping, it is likely that some of the campground's features are specifically tailored to this activity. This could include designated areas for loading and unloading horses, tie-up areas at campsites, and potentially even water troughs. However, without more detailed information, these are inferences based on the "rustic horse camp" description. The well-spaced campsites contribute to a sense of privacy and can be particularly beneficial when camping with animals, providing more room and reducing potential disturbances between campers.
Promotional information is somewhat limited. The nightly camping fee of $17 and the day use trail fee of $5 are explicitly stated, which can be considered key pieces of pricing information for potential users. These prices appear to be quite reasonable, especially considering the access to extensive trail systems within the county and the adjacent state park. There is no mention of seasonal discounts, long-stay rates, or other special promotions in the provided information. Local users interested in such details would need to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers or check if the county park has an official website where additional information, including potential promotions or reservation details, might be available.
In conclusion, Silver Creek County Park/Campground in Hamilton, MI, offers an appealing option for local users seeking a rustic "camping near me" experience, particularly those interested in horse camping and extensive trail access. The environment is characterized by well-spaced campsites and proximity to a significant trail network within the county park and an attached state park. While the services appear to be more basic, with vault toilets and water pumps being specifically mentioned positively, they seem functional and well-maintained. The standout features are the 7 miles of horse trails within the park, access to more trails in the adjacent state park, and the affordable nightly camping fee of $17, along with a $5 day use trail fee. For local residents and visitors looking for an affordable and nature-focused camping experience with excellent trail opportunities, especially for horseback riding, Silver Creek County Park/Campground is a strong contender. Potential visitors may wish to contact the park directly for more detailed information on amenities, horse-specific facilities, and any current promotions beyond the stated fees.

Spent 4 nights here and will definitely be back! The vault toilets were the least buggies I've ever seen and the water pumps work! Great spot in mid-western Michigan.
Jul 20, 2021 · Courtney CoffmanGreat rustic horse camp. Well spaced room between sites. 7 miles horse trails in county park, many more in the attached state park.
Apr 29, 2023 · barbara haywoodWe have camped here for years, it's rustic , lots of marked out trails to ride, and a good family place to camp. Outhouses only and you pump water, my kids grew up camping here and think it's the only way to camp
Nov 15, 2016 · Sarah SnyderCute campground! Lots of empty sites for the the weekend. Easy car ride to Saugatuck Dunes and other beaches.
Aug 02, 2021 · Dickie HarperGreat place to camp and get away for the weekend. It's mainly for equestrian use so the sites are bigger than usual, and they do charge $17.00 a night, but I've been out with just a tent or my teardrop camper and had a great time. I've not been there during peak season so I cannot comment on how busy it is during that time, but mid-to-late fall there's always quite a few sites open. And with over 70 to choose from, you are sure to find a spot that's nice and secluded, with plenty of "buffer" between you and the closest occupied site.
