Presently camping here! Theresa greeted me on my way in and was very friendly and excited that I was towing and camping on my own! I dropped my driver's license when I pulled out my camping permit, and a nice gentleman brought it to me! My space, #20 is a pull-through and pretty level . There's good spacing between spots, and I have a great view of the lake, too. Not much shade in the morning, but good afternoon shade. I don't know if it's always like this (I suppose it depends on the campers), but it's been very peaceful. The only part I wish were different is the lake shore, in many spots, has been built-up with rocks and covered with heavy- duty wire for erosion control. The nice beach is no dogs allowed, but luckily, I found a few spots where my dog could go in! - Cherie Mascis

Springfield Campground Introduce

For local residents in and around Anderson, South Carolina, seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience with beautiful waterfront views, Springfield Campground, located at 1915 Providence Church Rd, Anderson, SC 29626, USA, offers a compelling option. You can reach them at (888) 893-0678 or their mobile number, +1 888-893-0678, for inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews and campground information from May 2025, Springfield Campground provides a peaceful setting on the shores of a lake (likely Lake Hartwell), with some notable features and a few areas where improvements could be considered.

The environment at Springfield Campground is frequently described as beautiful, particularly its waterfront location. One camper with site #20 specifically mentioned having a "great view of the lake." The scenery appears to be a significant draw for visitors seeking a relaxing "camping near me" experience with natural beauty. While the shade situation varies by time of day, with "not much shade in the morning, but good afternoon shade" at site #20, campers can likely find a balance depending on their preferences and the time of year. The spacing between campsites is noted as "good," providing a sense of privacy and room to enjoy your individual space, which is a valuable aspect when looking for a comfortable "camping near me" option.

In terms of services, Springfield Campground offers electric hookups with 20A, 30A, and 50A options available at some sites (specifically mentioned for sites 64 and 44). Water hookups are also provided. For RVers and those needing these utilities, Springfield Campground caters to these needs. The campground features a boat ramp, making it a convenient location for those wishing to enjoy water activities on the lake. However, the boat ramp is described as a "narrow 1lane, moderate angle (shallow)," which might present a slight challenge for launching or retrieving larger boats. Local users planning to bring their boats should take this into consideration when choosing Springfield Campground as their "camping near me" destination.

The campground offers showers, although one recent camper noted that the water was "warm but not very hot." This is a practical consideration for those who value a hot shower during their camping trip. The ground at the campsites is gravel, which can be beneficial for drainage and keeping the area tidy. The shade is described as "partial" overall, suggesting that some sites may offer more shade than others. It's advisable for local users booking a site to inquire about the specific shade conditions at their chosen location, especially during the hot summer months.

A significant feature for some campers is pet-friendliness. While the "nice beach" area has a "no dogs allowed" policy, one camper traveling with a dog was able to find "a few spots where my dog could go in" along the lake shore. This indicates that while there might be restrictions in certain areas, there are still opportunities for pet owners to enjoy the waterfront with their dogs. Local users searching for "camping near me" that accommodates their furry companions will find this aspect appealing, though they should be prepared to seek out the designated or permissible areas for pets.

Springfield Campground offers pull-through sites, as noted by the camper at site #20, which are particularly convenient for RVers as they eliminate the need to back in. This ease of access can be a significant advantage for those towing larger trailers or RVs and enhances the overall camping experience. The campground has a total of 64 and 44 sites mentioned in the information, suggesting a decent capacity to accommodate visitors.

However, there are a few drawbacks mentioned in the reviews that local users should be aware of. The bathhouse is described as "old" and lacking essential supplies such as "soap or paper towels." This is an important consideration for campers who rely on these facilities. The lack of these basic amenities might be a deterrent for some when choosing a "camping near me" option.

Connectivity appears to be an issue at Springfield Campground. Wi-Fi is not available, and phone connectivity is reported as "not good (AT&T)" around site 64, though it is mentioned to be "a little better at 44." Local users who need to stay connected for work or personal reasons should be aware of this limitation. It might be advisable to check with the campground directly about the current connectivity situation at different locations within the park.

Another crucial piece of information is the campground's gate policy. The entrance gate is "physically locked from 10 PM to 7 AM." During these hours, "no one can enter or exit." This is a significant restriction that local users should be fully aware of, as it could impact their plans for late arrivals, early departures, or any need to leave the campground during these locked hours. One camper "strongly hope they install an automatic gate with a passcode system" to alleviate this inflexibility.

Regarding fees, the information indicates a daily rate of "$38/day" as of May 2025. This provides a clear understanding of the cost for local users planning a stay. However, it's important to note if this is a standard rate, if there are different rates for different types of sites (e.g., waterfront vs. non-waterfront, full hookup vs. partial hookup), or if there are any discounts for longer stays or local residents. This promotional information is not detailed in the provided data.

In conclusion, Springfield Campground offers a beautiful waterfront setting on what is likely Lake Hartwell, making it an attractive "camping near me" option for local residents in Anderson, SC, and the surrounding areas. It provides pull-through sites, electric and water hookups, and a boat ramp for lake access. The campground is also noted for its peaceful atmosphere and partial shade. However, potential visitors should be aware of the old bathhouse lacking supplies, the limited phone connectivity (at least for AT&T), and the strict gate lock-in hours from 10 PM to 7 AM. The daily fee is $38. While pet-friendly in some areas, the main beach prohibits dogs. Local users seeking a serene waterfront camping experience should weigh these pros and cons when considering Springfield Campground for their next outdoor getaway.
