Based on customer reviews, Taylor's Beach Campground is highlighted as an "amazing family oriented campground with lots to do for the kiddos!" One reviewer enthusiastically recommends booking a stay, emphasizing the availability of "awesome" campers and cabins for those who prefer not to tent camp. This suggests a campground that caters well to families with children and offers diverse lodging choices. However, another review provides a more nuanced perspective, stating it's a "great place to visit for the weekend" but not ideal as a seasonal campground, citing consistently increasing prices and unfulfilled promises of upgrades. This suggests that while the campground might offer a positive short-term experience, there have been concerns regarding its management and long-term value.
For local users seeking "camping near me" that is particularly geared towards families and offers a range of accommodation from tents to cabins, Taylor's Beach Campground appears to be a viable option for shorter stays. Let's explore the potential environment, services, and features based on these reviews and general expectations of a campground.
Environment and Location:
The address places Taylor's Beach Campground in Howell, Michigan. While the reviews don't extensively describe the natural environment, the name "Taylor's Beach Campground" implies a location that may be near a body of water, potentially offering beach-related activities. Michigan is known for its numerous lakes and natural beauty, so it's plausible that the campground benefits from a scenic setting. The positive mention of it being a "great place to visit for the weekend" suggests an environment conducive to relaxation and outdoor enjoyment. However, without more specific details, we can only infer that the environment is likely pleasant and suitable for family outings, possibly with water access. For those looking for "camping near me" with potential for water-based activities, the name is certainly suggestive.
Services and Amenities:
The reviews provide some insights into the services and amenities at Taylor's Beach Campground:
- Accommodation options: They offer tent camping sites as well as "awesome" campers and cabins for rent, catering to different preferences.
- Kid-friendly activities: The campground is noted for having "lots to do for the kiddos," suggesting amenities or organized activities aimed at children.
Based on typical family-oriented campgrounds, we might also expect services such as restrooms, showers, water access, and possibly recreational facilities like playgrounds. The mention of it being a place to "visit for the weekend" implies the availability of basic infrastructure to support campers for short durations. However, the negative review regarding unfulfilled promises of upgrades suggests that some amenities might be outdated or not as comprehensive as some might hope for a long-term stay. To get a full understanding of the services offered, contacting the campground directly would be advisable. For those prioritizing family-friendly features when searching for "camping near me," this campground seems to have some appealing aspects.
Features and Highlights:
The standout features of Taylor's Beach Campground, based on the reviews, appear to be:
- Family-oriented atmosphere: It's repeatedly described as such, making it attractive for families with children.
- Variety of lodging: Offering both traditional camping and rental units (campers and cabins) provides flexibility for different types of travelers.
- Activities for children: This is a significant draw for families looking for entertainment for their kids.
The potential presence of a "beach" as suggested by the name could be another key feature, offering swimming and other water-related activities. However, this is not explicitly confirmed in the provided reviews. The negative review points out a potential downside for long-term or returning visitors due to price increases and a lack of promised upgrades. For those looking for "camping near me" for a weekend getaway with family, the kid-friendly focus and diverse accommodation options could be major highlights.
Promotional Information:
The provided information does not contain any specific promotional offers. The enthusiastic reviewer encourages booking a stay "asap," which could be seen as an implicit promotion based on their positive experience. However, there are no details about discounts, packages, or seasonal specials. If you are interested in any current promotions, it would be best to reach out to Taylor's Beach Campground directly via phone or their website, if available. When considering "camping near me," it's always worth inquiring about any deals that might be on offer.
In conclusion, Taylor's Beach Campground in Howell, MI, appears to be a family-focused campground offering a range of accommodation options, including tent sites, campers, and cabins, along with activities suitable for children. Positive feedback highlights its appeal for weekend visits and its kid-friendly environment. However, potential visitors should be aware of concerns raised about increasing prices and the lack of completed upgrades, particularly if considering a longer or seasonal stay. For local users seeking "camping near me" for a family weekend getaway with various lodging choices and activities for children, Taylor's Beach Campground is worth considering. Contact them at (517) 546-2679 to inquire about availability, specific amenities, and any current promotions.

My family and I go at least once a year! They are an amazing family oriented campground with lots to do for the kiddos! If you haven’t been there before, book your stay asap!!! The campers and cabins are awesome if you don’t want to tent camp
Jan 25, 2025 · Jennifer GreenGreat place to visit for.the weekend. Not a great seasonal campground. Always increasing prices. Always promise to do upgrades, they just never come to fruition. We are moving out this year after 4yrs of building our dream getaway.
May 03, 2025 · John WengBest family campground ever. Been coming here for the fourth of July for 3 years now and every year gets better and better. Tons for the kids to do and so many friendly wonderful people. The owners do such a great job making it a perfect family destination for holidays. Worth every penny.
Jul 08, 2024 · shannen hamblinLake was nice. Campsites were shaded. The bathrooms weren't nice. They never seemed to get cleaned and didn't seem to ever have toilet paper. The showers were gross. When we went to dump when leaving, they don't make it easy to dispose of your trash. They should put a dumpster close to where you dump. The arcades had 3 machines that didn't work but took your money. They all in all need to spend more time with upkeep.
Aug 06, 2023 · Dstock97This was our first solo family trip without more experienced family members and I am so glad we chose TBC! The campsite was clean, easy to set up on and so convenient for having children. Between all the activities offered we were never bored even with an energetic 4 year old. Fellow campers were considerate and friendly and the staff were even better. We had rented two sites, someone ends up setting up on one of them after the office was closed down and we didn’t want to be rude so we let them keep it. We were not expecting a refund but the woman at the office put one in immediately the next morning without any hassle. Overall a wonderful all in one experience. TBC will forever be a go to for our family.
