I love the walking distance of this location. As soon as I got myself set up, elk came walking through camp like they owned the place.Staff was friendly. The gal who makes the body butters is not only adorable, she is so kind. The store has so many cute things made by locals and friends. The alpaca clothes are SO SOFT and cute as could be.The park guy took the time to walk around the sites with me to discuss easiest ways to pull in since I'm still new to the trailer.Staff all around was wonderful, and location is perfect. The views are pretty along the water, though I definitely don't trust the geese. All in all, adorable place to stop and dink around at. - Al Biotch

The Retreat at Cannon Beach RV Park Introduce

For local users searching for "camping near me" along the scenic Oregon coast, The Retreat at Cannon Beach RV Park, located at 415 Fir St, Cannon Beach, OR 97110, offers a camping option within walking distance of Cannon Beach itself. The provided phone numbers for inquiries are (503) 436-4203 and +1 503-436-4203. Recent customer reviews present a mixed picture of this RV park, highlighting both its appealing aspects and areas where improvements may be needed.

One of the frequently praised features of The Retreat at Cannon Beach RV Park is its convenient location. The "walking distance" to Cannon Beach is a significant draw, allowing visitors easy access to the iconic Haystack Rock, the town's charming shops and restaurants, and the beautiful coastline. This prime location makes it an attractive base for exploring the popular tourist destination of Cannon Beach without the need for constant driving and parking.

Nature enthusiasts might appreciate the unique experience of wildlife encounters within the campground. One reviewer recounted an instance of elk walking through the campsite, suggesting a relatively natural environment where local fauna may roam. This could be a memorable and appealing aspect for visitors who enjoy observing wildlife in their natural habitat, although it's important to maintain a safe distance and not interfere with the animals.

The staff at The Retreat at Cannon Beach RV Park generally receive positive feedback for their friendliness and helpfulness. One reviewer specifically mentioned the kindness of the staff member who makes body butters and the charming nature of the store, which features items made by local artisans and friends. The availability of unique, locally crafted items and soft alpaca clothing in the store could be a pleasant surprise and a good opportunity to support the local community.

Furthermore, the park staff is commended for going the extra mile to assist guests. One reviewer, new to towing a trailer, appreciated the "park guy" who took the time to walk around the sites and offer guidance on the easiest ways to maneuver and park. This level of personalized assistance can be particularly valuable for less experienced RVers and demonstrates a commitment to customer care.

The overall sentiment from some reviewers is that the staff is "wonderful" and the location is "perfect." The "pretty views along the water" are also mentioned as a positive aspect, although one reviewer humorously expressed a lack of trust towards the local geese. Despite this lighthearted comment, the scenic surroundings likely contribute to the park's appeal.

However, a significant portion of the recent feedback raises concerns about the maintenance and condition of The Retreat at Cannon Beach RV Park. One reviewer described the place as "a bit of a dump" and stated that it "hasn’t been maintained very well in some time." This is a serious criticism that potential visitors should consider.

Another major concern highlighted is the size of the campsites, described as "ridiculously small" and "probably the smallest campsites I've ever seen." Cramped campsites can detract from the camping experience, limiting space for awnings, outdoor gear, and even comfortable maneuvering of vehicles and trailers. This lack of space could be a significant drawback for those seeking a more spacious and comfortable camping setup.

The perceived lack of management and maintenance by the day-to-day staff is also a point of criticism. This aligns with the observation that the campground hasn't seen fresh gravel in a long time, reportedly resulting in a "mud pit" in certain areas. Poor drainage and muddy conditions can significantly impact the usability and enjoyment of the campsites, especially during wet weather.

The cabins at The Retreat also received negative feedback. They are described as "too small" and lacking a fundamental amenity: a table to eat at, despite having basic kitchen facilities. This oversight can be inconvenient for guests staying in the cabins and limits their ability to comfortably enjoy meals indoors.

Issues with the shower facilities were also reported, including poor drainage and a lack of cleanliness. Dirty and poorly functioning showers can greatly diminish the overall camping experience and raise hygiene concerns.

Additionally, the Wi-Fi service was described as "slow and unreliable," which can be frustrating for guests who need to stay connected for work or personal reasons, especially in an area where cellular service might be spotty.

Perhaps the most concerning feedback is the claim that "this place looks nothing in real life like the website makes it out to be," with one reviewer stating that "the website is very misleading." Such a discrepancy between online representation and the actual condition of the campground can lead to significant disappointment and a feeling of being misled upon arrival.

Based on the contrasting reviews, The Retreat at Cannon Beach RV Park appears to offer a prime location within walking distance of Cannon Beach and a friendly staff, which are significant advantages. The potential for wildlife sightings and the presence of a local craft store add unique appeal. However, the negative feedback regarding poor maintenance, small campsites, muddy conditions, inadequate cabin amenities, and unreliable Wi-Fi are serious concerns that prospective visitors must consider.

For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Cannon Beach area, The Retreat presents a trade-off between location and potential comfort and maintenance issues. It is strongly recommended that potential visitors seek more recent reviews and perhaps even try to get a realistic assessment of the current conditions before booking a stay. Contacting the park directly with specific questions about site sizes, amenities, and recent maintenance efforts may also be beneficial.

In conclusion, The Retreat at Cannon Beach RV Park offers an enviable location and friendly staff, but recent feedback indicates significant concerns regarding maintenance, campsite size, and overall condition. Local users looking for "camping near me" should carefully weigh these factors and consider seeking additional information to ensure that this RV park meets their expectations for a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience on the Oregon coast.
