Thunder Gulch Introduce
Are you a local resident searching for "camping near me" in the Bunnell, Florida area? Thunder Gulch Campground is one option that may appear in your search. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the campground based on the limited information available from online reviews. It's important to note that the information is sparse and includes both positive and potentially negative feedback, which should be considered carefully when making your decision.
Environment and Location:
One positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the presence of shade within the park. One reviewer noted, "The park has shade!" This suggests that Thunder Gulch Campground may offer a more comfortable camping experience, particularly during the hot Florida summers, with trees providing cover from the sun. Shade is a significant amenity for many campers, contributing to a more enjoyable and cooler campsite environment.
Another potentially beneficial feature mentioned is the campground's convenient location. The same positive reviewer stated that it is "Next to everything for work and play." This suggests that Thunder Gulch might be situated in a location that offers easy access to local amenities, workplaces, and recreational activities in and around Bunnell. The specifics of what "everything" entails are not detailed, but this proximity could be advantageous for campers who need to be close to certain locations or who wish to explore the local area.
Services and Features:
The available reviews provide very limited information regarding the specific services and features offered at Thunder Gulch Campground. One positive review mentions that "Chrissy is great!" This suggests that there is likely on-site staff, and at least one individual is perceived as helpful and friendly, which can contribute positively to the overall guest experience. However, details about specific amenities such as hookups (water, electricity, sewer), restroom facilities, showers, laundry, or recreational areas are not provided in the available feedback.
Given the lack of detailed information, it is difficult to objectively describe the full range of services and features that may be available at Thunder Gulch Campground. Potential campers should be prepared to inquire directly with the campground management to obtain comprehensive information about the amenities offered to ensure they meet their specific needs.
A Concerning Review Regarding Safety:
It is crucial to address a significant concern raised in one of the reviews. A former resident or someone familiar with the area provided a starkly different perspective, stating, "This is not what it use to be when I lived near there and knew others that lived there. While I was there, they had 3 Patrol cars visit. I can't say for sure but I was told there are issues there. I did not visit but was there with some one else. Get more from others before using my review. Call the precinct to see if they have had complaints. Wish you luck."
This review raises serious potential safety concerns. The mention of three patrol car visits during the reviewer's presence and the suggestion of "issues there" are alarming. While the reviewer admits they "did not visit" the campground directly during this instance and relies on hearsay ("I was told"), the recommendation to "Call the precinct to see if they have had complaints" is a strong indicator of potential problems. This feedback should not be ignored by anyone considering staying at Thunder Gulch Campground.
It is important to approach this information with caution, as it is based on one indirect account. However, the explicit suggestion to contact law enforcement for further information underscores the level of concern expressed by the reviewer. Potential campers are strongly advised to conduct their own thorough research and due diligence regarding the current safety situation at Thunder Gulch Campground before making a reservation or deciding to stay there.
Limited Information on Promotional Aspects:
The provided reviews do not contain any information regarding promotional offers, discounts, or special rates at Thunder Gulch Campground. Local users interested in any potential promotions would need to contact the campground directly using the provided phone number to inquire about current pricing and any available deals.
Summary and Considerations for Local Users:
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in Bunnell, Florida, Thunder Gulch Campground presents a mixed picture based on the limited available information. On the positive side, it appears to offer shade and a convenient location "next to everything for work and play." Additionally, one reviewer praised the staff member Chrissy. However, a significant concern has been raised regarding potential safety issues, with a reviewer mentioning multiple police visits and suggesting contacting the local precinct for more information.
Given the stark contrast in the limited feedback, it is impossible to provide a definitive recommendation without further information. The potential convenience and shade may be appealing, but the safety concerns raised in one review cannot be dismissed lightly. Local users considering Thunder Gulch Campground should prioritize their safety and well-being and take extra steps to gather more current and reliable information before making a decision.
Recommendations for Potential Campers:
- Contact the Campground Directly: Call (386) 437-3135 or +1 386-437-3135 to inquire about the current services, amenities, and any safety measures in place. Ask specific questions about security and the general environment of the campground.
- Contact the Local Law Enforcement: As suggested by one reviewer, consider contacting the local police precinct in Bunnell to inquire if they have received any recent complaints or reports regarding Thunder Gulch Campground.
- Seek Additional Reviews: Search for more recent reviews of Thunder Gulch Campground on various online platforms to get a broader range of perspectives on the current state of the campground.
- Consider Alternatives: Explore other campgrounds in the Bunnell area to compare amenities, reviews, and safety records before making a final decision.
In conclusion, while Thunder Gulch Campground may offer some appealing features such as shade and a convenient location, the serious safety concerns raised in one of the limited reviews warrant significant caution and further investigation by potential local users searching for "camping near me." Prioritize your safety and conduct thorough due diligence before choosing this campground for your stay.

Mar 17, 2019 · Edwin AvilesWe stayed here recently for the first time and it was great. The owners were extremely nice. They are new owners and are working on fixing the place up. The sites were very spacious. There is a mobile hair salon which was very nice and there was also a food truck everyday with really good food.
Jun 01, 2020 · Carolyn DionneMy wife and I love this place. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate the campers needs, they are helpful and friendly. This place is under private ownership, thank God, corporate america didn't swallow this little slice of goodness up yet. This place unlike others, allows people to LIVE a tiny lifestyle comfortably, without a million restrictions, but rules of simplicity, respect and just common sense.. There are long-time residents here, half-year returnees, monthlys and weekenders of ALL ages. This place is a community, Of alot of different people, on their own personal life journeys, and we love walking around to stop, talk, listen and share with them! In all our travels, we love this place best! John, Marie and the maintenance guys are great. The Bath House, Restrooms & Laundry Facility are clean. Plenty of open property to run your dogs, just pick up the poop. Hopefully well see ya there.
Feb 02, 2019 · Marc EllingsworthIt's quiet, but happening.. If u can get that... My only unhappy moment was trying to shower when it's in the 40s. The water gets good and hot but the shower rooms are not capable of being heated, at least from what I could see.. If u have a portable propane heater and ur visiting in the cooler months, definitely bring it if u like to dress after a shower without body parts freezing and falling off. ☺
