Trimmer Campground Introduce
For those navigating the "Camping Near Me" platform in search of a tranquil and picturesque outdoor escape, Trimmer Campground stands out as a highly recommended destination. Located at Trimmer Springs Rd, Piedra, CA 93649, USA, this hidden gem offers a surprisingly well-appointed experience for its modest size, nestled alongside the stunning Pine Flat Lake.
Trimmer Campground's most striking feature is its direct proximity and "awesome view of Pine Flat Lake." Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,000 feet, the campground enjoys a serene lakeside environment. The natural setting provides a peaceful backdrop for camping, with trees offering some shade, though the primary draw is the expansive view of the lake itself. Pine Flat Lake is a large reservoir on the Kings River, known for its deep blue waters and surrounding rolling hills, which are particularly vibrant with green foliage and wildflowers in the spring.
The campground is described as "very peaceful," suggesting a quiet atmosphere ideal for relaxation and connecting with nature. Its smaller size, with "Only 10 sites," contributes to this tranquil ambiance, ensuring a less crowded experience compared to larger, more bustling campgrounds. The area, being part of the larger Sierra National Forest managed lands, is naturally diverse, offering opportunities for observing local flora and fauna. While specific details on wildlife were not provided, the natural setting implies a chance to encounter local birds and small animals.
Accessibility to the campground via Trimmer Springs Road, though some reviews suggest it "can appreciate some touch of love," implies a navigable route for both RVs and cars. Visitors should be prepared for typical rural California roads, which can be winding. The climate at this lower elevation can be quite warm in the summer, making spring and fall potentially more comfortable seasons for camping. One reviewer specifically noted visiting in "late March" to hunt for "Spring flowers blooming," suggesting this is an excellent time to witness the landscape's natural beauty.
Trimmer Campground provides a remarkable set of amenities for a campground of its size, particularly appealing to those seeking more comfort than a purely rustic site. With "Only 10 sites," it caters to a mixed use of "tents and RVs," indicating flexibility for various camping styles. Each campsite is typically equipped with standard provisions found in developed campgrounds, such as:
Picnic Table: For dining and food preparation.
Fire Ring: Often with a grate, for campfires and cooking, subject to local fire restrictions. A valid campfire permit is usually required.
Beyond these basics, a significant and highly praised amenity at Trimmer Campground is the presence of a "hot water shower." This is a notable feature for such a relatively small campground, offering a level of comfort not always found in similar settings. This can be a major convenience for campers, especially after a day of outdoor activities on the lake or surrounding trails.
Sanitary facilities include restrooms, likely vault toilets, though the presence of hot showers might indicate more developed facilities. However, specific details on flush toilets versus vault toilets were not available. There was no explicit mention of potable water availability at each site or a central spigot, so campers should be prepared to bring their own water or confirm water sources with the campground management prior to arrival. Given the typical amenities of campgrounds in this region, potable water is generally available somewhere on-site, but confirmation is always best.
The campground is managed by a concessionaire, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees recreation on Pine Flat Lake. This ensures a level of maintenance and oversight for the facilities. For more detailed information or to inquire about current conditions, visitors can contact them directly at (559) 787-2589.
The allure of Trimmer Campground lies in its peaceful environment and direct access to Pine Flat Lake, offering a wealth of recreational opportunities:
Lake Access and Water Recreation: The primary feature is Pine Flat Lake itself. Campers can enjoy boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming in the lake. The "awesome view" suggests excellent access for these activities. Public boat launches are typically available around the lake for those bringing their own watercraft.
Fishing: Pine Flat Lake is a popular destination for fishing, home to various species including bass, trout, and catfish. Anglers can enjoy fishing from the shore or by boat.
Relaxation and "Chilling": Reviewers frequently mention the "very peaceful campground" and the desire to "just chill and relax." This highlights the campground's suitability for those simply looking to unwind in a serene natural setting.
Hiking and Nature Walks: While specific trails directly from the campground were not detailed, the surrounding area of the Sequoia National Forest provides opportunities for nature walks and hiking. The search for "Spring flowers blooming" indicates possibilities for scenic walks in late March and April.
Bird Watching and Wildlife Viewing: The lake and surrounding natural environment attract various bird species and other wildlife, offering opportunities for observation.
For those searching "Camping Near Me" and prioritizing a peaceful, well-equipped, and scenic camping experience, Trimmer Campground offers compelling reasons to visit. Its key promotional aspects include:
"The best RV campground I have been to": This strong testimonial from a reviewer speaks volumes about the quality of the experience, particularly for RV campers.
Hot Showers: The availability of hot showers is a significant comfort feature that sets it apart from many smaller campgrounds, enhancing the overall camping experience.
Peaceful and Relaxing Atmosphere: The consistent mention of "peaceful" and "chill and relax" highlights its suitability for those seeking a quiet getaway rather than a bustling recreational hub.
Beautiful Lake Views: The "awesome view of Pine Flat Lake" is a major draw, promising picturesque scenery throughout the stay.
Ideal for Spring and Early Summer: The blooming spring flowers and the slightly cooler temperatures make late March and April an excellent time to visit before the peak summer heat. This is important for those planning their trips.
While the campground is highly praised, potential visitors should note that the road to access it "can appreciate some touch of love," suggesting it might be rough in parts. Being a smaller campground with only 10 sites, it can fill up quickly, especially during popular seasons, so planning ahead is advisable. No information was provided regarding reservations, implying it might be first-come, first-served or that reservations are handled directly by the Corps of Engineers. It is best to contact the campground directly at (559) 787-2589 to confirm reservation policies and current conditions, including fire restrictions and water availability.
Overall, Trimmer Campground is a fantastic choice for those seeking a serene, well-equipped lakeside camping experience with the added luxury of hot showers. Its intimate size and stunning location on Pine Flat Lake make it a memorable spot for relaxation, fishing, boating, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Central Valley foothills.

Trimmer Campground Reviews
The best RV campground I have been to. The road definitely can appreciate some touch of love. The view of Pine Flat Lake though is awesome. Only 10 sites mixed use of tents and RVs yet it has a hot water shower.I was on the hunt for Spring flowers blooming. Visited it late March. Decent blooms. April would have been more? First time to the area but will be back many more times to just chill and relax.
Mar 29, 2025 · Holley LeVery peaceful campground. Enjoyed my stay here. Stayed in site #2
Dec 31, 2024 · Johnny YoungBeautiful campground! Our site was #2 which had great views of the lake from our van, however you can't go wrong with any of them. There are 10 altogether. If I had to choose again, I'd choose site #1 because of the shade and its own personal view of the lake.Do be careful of spiders in the restrooms! Seriously! The movie Arachnophobia had nothing on these bathrooms. The entire restroom was covered with spiders. There were even signs on the urinals to Not Use because all the spiders in them! Eeks!
May 12, 2022 · holoholoyoloVery nice place to camp, however me and my husband experienced was a bit weird, just only us no other camper, so peaceful till 8pm a pick up truck drove and park his truck on site #9 and we're on site 2, so I'm wondering why? Beside for reservation online on that date no other reserved just us. So I told my husband maybe the driver need some place to sleep and can't drive long till he get home. However my husband feel bad vibes with that driver of pick up truck so we decided to packed our things and leave the campsite. We're not afraid of any animals but human don't know, hard to trust to anyone.
