A significant draw of Wolf River Trips & Campground is its direct access to the Wolf River and the organized river trips it offers. Tubing appears to be a particularly popular activity, with one reviewer mentioning the need to arrive early to secure specific tubes. This suggests a well-organized tubing operation with various options available. The river itself is described as having places to stop and hang out along the way, implying opportunities for relaxation and enjoying the natural surroundings during your river adventure.
The staff at Wolf River Trips & Campground consistently receive high praise for their friendliness. One reviewer specifically noted that the staff has "always been very friendly," and humorously mentioned that the bus drivers are "hilarious," adding a lighthearted and enjoyable element to the overall experience, particularly when being transported for river trips. This positive interaction with the staff contributes significantly to the welcoming atmosphere of the campground.
The Wolf River offers a fantastic environment for various water activities, primarily kayaking and tubing, as highlighted by a visitor. During the weekdays, outside of peak holiday and weekend periods, there's even the chance to have the entire river virtually to yourself, providing a more secluded and intimate experience with nature. This tranquility allows for a more immersive connection with the river environment and the potential to observe local wildlife.
Speaking of wildlife, reviewers have mentioned seeing "lots of Little Critters like turtles and fish" when the river water is clear. This adds an element of natural discovery to the river trips, appealing to nature lovers and families with children. The opportunity to observe local fauna in their natural habitat enhances the overall experience and creates memorable moments.
While the majority of the feedback is positive, one reviewer did mention that it "can be a little pricey" for a family, citing an approximate cost of $75 for a family of five. It's important for potential visitors to consider these costs, especially if bringing a larger group. However, the reviewer still recommended the experience and mentioned taking the 4-hour trip, which they always enjoy, indicating that the value derived from the experience outweighs the cost for their family.
Safety and comfort on the river are also addressed in the reviews. The recommendation to "make sure you have some water shoes to protect your feet from the rocks" is a practical tip for anyone participating in tubing or kayaking on the Wolf River. Depending on the water level, getting stuck on rocks can occur, and water shoes provide essential protection and grip.
While the primary focus of the reviews is on the river trips, the name "Wolf River Trips & Campground" clearly indicates the availability of camping facilities as well. One reviewer mentioned that their family has both camped and made day trips to the location annually, implying that the campground is a suitable base for exploring the river and the surrounding area. Wolf River Trips & Campground Reviews
This is an annual trip for our family. Never miss a year... we have camped and only made day trips. Staff is great, you have to get there early if you want specific tube. There's places to stop and hang out along the river too.
Aug 13, 2023 · A MOne of my favorite places to go. Staff has always been very friendly bus drivers are hilarious. Can be busy during holidays and weekends but during the week sometimes you have the entire River to yourself great for kayaking and tubing. You will see lots of Little Critters like turtles and fish when the river is clear. It can be a little pricey when you're bringing your entire family for a family of 5 it cost about $75. Make sure you have some water shoes to protect your feet from the rocks as you often gets stuck on the rocks depending on water level. We like to take the 4 Hour trip always a good time will always recommend.
Jun 12, 2018 · Angie BiwerI've never been a camper and have never been tubing.. I can't think of a more perfect experience for my first time. The river is low right now so they weren't running the long trip. So, we just went again. They have plenty of tubes (at least for us) and the experience is GREAT! Sunscreen is absolutely required but we all got a bit toasty anyway. It's the timing of reapplying that threw us off.As a previous reviewer mentioned, not the most kid friendly at times with tons of people out drinking and floating. The grounds are well kept and the staff is very responsive in the event there are any issues.I thought the prices were very reasonable.I loved the trip, and can't wait to go again.
Jun 15, 2021 · Karen H.Love going tubing here in the summer. Everything about it is great. We've only gone here for tubing so I can't speak to anything else, but everyone is always friendly & the river is so relaxing. Not to mention the free treat at the end!
Jul 12, 2023 · Stacey PaulickWe weren't tubing, just camping to visit our daughter in law and grandson. Very well maintained campground. Our site, 110, was not level at all but did have lots ochecking. We probably could have traded for an empty spot but it wasn't that big of a deal. Camp office staff was kind and helpful at checkin. Plenty of things to do, shuffleboard, horseshoes, bags, sand volleyball, tubing.
