Woodland Campgrounds Inc Introduce
Welcome to Woodland Campgrounds Inc, located at 291 Gilmour Rd, Somerset, PA 15501, USA. For local users searching for 'camping near me', Woodland Campgrounds Inc offers a campground experience in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Based on the available customer reviews, there are contrasting opinions regarding the campground's condition and overall appeal. This introduction aims to provide a detailed and objective overview of what Woodland Campgrounds Inc might offer, drawing from these differing perspectives.
Location and Environment:
Situated in Somerset, Pennsylvania, Woodland Campgrounds Inc benefits from a location that offers a blend of natural camping feel with proximity to conveniences. One reviewer noted that it is "close to attractions and close to stores if you need to grab something, but still has a 'camping' feel." This suggests that the campground provides a balance, allowing campers to enjoy a natural setting while having easy access to local amenities and points of interest. Somerset County is known for its scenic landscapes in the Laurel Highlands, so the surrounding environment likely offers natural beauty. However, the reviews do not provide specific details about the immediate surroundings of the campground itself, such as the presence of woods, streams, or particular scenic features.
Services and Features:
Based on the positive customer review, Woodland Campgrounds Inc offers several amenities and services:
- Full Hookups: The availability of full hookups is mentioned, which is a significant advantage for RV campers needing water, electricity, and sewer connections.
- Playground: There is a playground on-site, making it a potential draw for families with children.
- Pool: A pool is mentioned, although it was closed for the season during one reviewer's October 2024 visit. The presence of a pool is highlighted as a future benefit for visits with kids.
- Friendly Owner: The owner is described as "super friendly." One reviewer recounted the owner meeting them at the gate, showing them their spot, bringing firewood, moving the picnic table, and taking their trash upon departure, indicating a high level of personal service.
- Affordability: The campground is described as "super affordable," which could be a significant factor for budget-conscious travelers.
However, the negative review paints a different picture regarding the overall condition of the campground, stating that it is "OLD" with "NO improvement in years," "creepy," "run down," and filled with "Worn out RVs in most slots." This stark contrast suggests that while some aspects, like the owner's friendliness and the affordability, might be positive, the physical condition of the campground could be a concern for some visitors.
Customer Experiences:
The two available customer reviews present very different experiences:
- One reviewer had a positive experience during their two-night stay in October 2024. They appreciated the location's balance between a camping feel and proximity to amenities. They highly praised the friendly owner and noted the full hookups, playground, and pool (though closed). They also mentioned the affordability and the fact that they were the only ones in the overnight spots, which they enjoyed. Overall, they found it to be a "great campground."
- In stark contrast, the other reviewer had a negative experience, describing the campground as old, unimproved, creepy, and run down, with many worn-out RVs. While they acknowledged that the host was nice, it didn't compensate for the park's conditions, and they advised others to "pass this one up."
These conflicting reviews indicate that experiences at Woodland Campgrounds Inc can vary significantly. Potential visitors should weigh these perspectives when considering a stay.
Promotional Information:
The positive review implicitly promotes the campground by highlighting its convenient location, friendly service, amenities like full hookups, a playground, and a pool, as well as its affordability. For local users searching for 'camping near me' who value these aspects, especially those with families or those on a budget, Woodland Campgrounds Inc might seem appealing based on this feedback. However, the negative review strongly cautions against staying there due to the perceived poor condition of the campground. Therefore, any promotional value from one review is significantly countered by the other. Potential guests should consider these contrasting views and perhaps seek more recent information or photos if available online to form a more informed opinion.
Summary for Local Users ('Camping Near Me'):
If you're searching for 'camping near me' in the Somerset, PA area, Woodland Campgrounds Inc presents a mixed picture based on recent customer reviews. On the one hand, it's described as being conveniently located near attractions and stores while still offering a camping atmosphere. It features full hookups, a playground, and a pool (seasonal), and the owner is noted for being very friendly and helpful. Additionally, it's mentioned as being affordable. However, another review paints a less favorable picture, describing the campground as old, run down, and creepy, with many dilapidated RVs. This reviewer strongly recommends avoiding it. Given these conflicting accounts, local users should be aware of the potential for a positive experience with a friendly owner and useful amenities, but also the possibility of encountering a campground that some find to be in poor condition. It would be wise to seek additional reviews or information to make an informed decision based on your priorities for a camping experience. Woodland Campgrounds Inc Reviews
We spent two nights here in October, 2024. It’s close to attractions and close to stores if you need to grab something, but still has a “camping” feel. The owner was super friendly. He met us at the gate the evening we arrived and showed us where our spot would be for the night. He brought firewood and moved the picnic table closer to our camper. He also took our trash on the day we left. There are Full hookups , a playground and a pool(it was closed for the season, but still a pro for future visits with kids.) We were the only people in the overnight spots which was nice for our stay. It was also super affordable!Overall a great campground!
Oct 20, 2024 · Cassie FultzThis camp ground is OLD and contradiction to web site there has been NO improvement in years. It was so creepy. Run down and Worn out RVs in most slots. Host was nice but just didn't make up for parks conditions. Do your self a favor and pass this one up.
Sep 21, 2024 · MK WainscottWe stayed here for one night passing through on a Thursday. There is a pool and a small playground. Bathrooms are clean. It was very quiet at night. There is a little mini golf area that hasn’t been maintained but the kids didn’t care and had fun. The ladies running the place were nice and accommodating.
Jul 01, 2022 · Raquel DIf you're looking for a seasonal site, look elsewhere. $2000 a year rent and no amenities. Their website is full of false advertisement. The pool is a disgrace and the seasonal campers are the ones sweeping and adding chemicals because the owners don't pay anyone to maintain the pool. The website mentions and shows people fishing and kayaking on Somerset lake, yet it's been drained for roughly 5 years. There isn't a single picnic table that isn't rotten and many sites don't even have one. When it rains the roads get washed out, and again, seasonal campers bring in equipment at their own time and cost to rake and fix the roads. The website mentions a rec room, but there is no such thing. There is now a 50 year old ping pong table and a small used air hockey table in the pavilion that seasonal campers purchased and brought in so the kids would have activities. The weekend activities that had been offered in the past were completely organized, run and paid for by seasonal campers. There is a freshly painted playground, again paid for and painted by campers! The owners live in another state, and leave their elderly aunt to run their business with no budget and no way to make improvements. The place is going downhill fast. Look elsewhere. There is a reason why Hickory Hollow has a waiting list 87 people long and we have open sites!
