This place could be easily 5 stars. They put together a very nice, clean and new place for campers. Here are some pros and cons. And we camped here in mid-April (still snows on ground and some roads) so some of these will not be applicable for campers planning to use the facilities during high season.Pros:-Facilities are well cared and new. It was always clean.-There is a laundry service and it coats 50 cents and they were in the process of painting and adding more (what it looked like) machines but.. (see cons for comments)-It is right by Lake Superior, and has beautiful beach.-Town is quite cool, most places were closed due to off season.-A lot of the sites have electric and water access (water is off until weather warms up due to freezing).-Showers were really hot and free. Also not timed so it's great for shower (unless you don't like hot shower).Cons:-They have a number which says you can call anytime. We tried many times at different times, they don't answer.-The dump drive-in and out wasn't plowed, so access was blocked by ice pileup. The rest of the roads were open and safe to drive (and sign posted for closed, see the picture)-Laundry was not usable, machines were disconnected. The sink water was also not running (maybe due to freezing again).-There was no way to get drinking water as the site waters are off. It would make a huge difference if they added a hot/cold tap inside the warm shower/toilet building that people can access to water somewhere. Sinks are not great to fill up deep bottles.I think water was the biggest issue. We also couldn't do dishes as getting water was hard and we didn't have in our trailer.Overall this place is really nice and I am sure you get all the benefits they offer during peak season. However, you pay the same amount to stay in the off-season. - D. Sahin

Woodland Park Campground Introduce

For local adventurers seeking "camping near me" in the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Woodland Park Campground, located at E21738 Braziel St, Grand Marais, MI 49839, USA, presents a promising option. Situated in the charming town of Grand Marais and boasting a prime location right by the majestic Lake Superior, this campground offers a blend of natural beauty and developing amenities for a comfortable camping experience. You can reach them at (906) 494-2613 or their mobile number +1 906-494-2613 for inquiries and reservations.

Based on recent camper feedback, Woodland Park Campground is a relatively new facility that has been thoughtfully put together with cleanliness and camper comfort in mind. While one reviewer noted that their mid-April stay (during the off-season with lingering snow) presented some limitations, the potential of this campground during the warmer, peak season is evident. The positive aspects highlighted by visitors suggest a well-maintained and enjoyable camping environment.

One of the significant advantages of Woodland Park Campground is its proximity to Lake Superior. Campers can look forward to easy access to a beautiful beach, offering opportunities for leisurely strolls along the shore, enjoying the stunning lake views, and potentially engaging in water-related activities when the weather permits. The allure of camping so close to one of the Great Lakes is a major draw for those seeking a memorable outdoor experience in Michigan.

The campground also benefits from its location near the town of Grand Marais. While some establishments may be closed during the off-season, the reviewer noted that the town has a "cool" vibe and is within a short walk from the campground. This proximity offers the convenience of accessing local restaurants and other town amenities, making it easy to grab a bite to eat or explore the local charm.

In terms of campsite features, many sites at Woodland Park Campground are equipped with electric and water access. This is a significant convenience for RV campers and those who appreciate having these utilities readily available. It's important to note, however, that the water supply may be turned off during colder months to prevent freezing, as experienced by the reviewer during their April stay. Campers planning an off-season visit should be prepared for this and inquire about water availability beforehand.

The facilities at Woodland Park Campground are described as well-cared for and new, with a focus on cleanliness. This is a crucial aspect for a comfortable camping experience. The availability of free and "really hot" showers is another notable positive. The fact that the showers are not timed is a significant bonus, allowing campers to take their time and enjoy a refreshing wash after a day of outdoor activities.

Woodland Park Campground also offers a laundry service, with coin-operated machines. During the mid-April visit, it appeared that the campground was in the process of expanding its laundry facilities, suggesting an ongoing commitment to improving guest amenities. However, the reviewer noted that the laundry machines were disconnected and unusable during their stay, possibly due to the off-season conditions.

Despite the overall positive impression, the reviewer did highlight a few cons experienced during their off-season visit. One issue was the lack of response to phone calls made to the provided number. Effective communication is essential for a smooth camping experience, so it's advisable for the campground management to ensure reliable phone service, especially for off-season inquiries.

Another challenge encountered was the inaccessibility of the dump station due to an ice pileup blocking the drive-in and out. While the other roads within the campground were open and safe, this limited a crucial service for RV campers. This issue was likely specific to the early spring conditions and may not be a concern during the regular camping season.

A significant concern raised by the reviewer was the lack of available drinking water, as the site water hookups were turned off due to the risk of freezing. They suggested the addition of a hot/cold tap inside the shower/toilet building for accessible drinking water, as the sinks were not ideal for filling up larger water bottles. This is a valuable suggestion for the campground to consider, especially during times when site water is unavailable.

The difficulty in obtaining water also impacted the ability to do dishes for campers who did not have a water supply in their trailers. Addressing the water accessibility issue, particularly during the shoulder seasons, would greatly enhance the overall camping experience at Woodland Park Campground.

In summary, Woodland Park Campground appears to be a well-designed and clean facility with excellent potential, especially during the peak camping season. Its prime location near Lake Superior and the town of Grand Marais, coupled with amenities like electric and water hookups, free hot showers, and laundry facilities, make it an attractive option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Upper Peninsula. However, off-season campers should be aware that some services, such as water and laundry, may be limited or unavailable due to weather conditions.

For local users planning a camping trip, Woodland Park Campground offers a promising base to explore the natural beauty of the Grand Marais area and the shores of Lake Superior. The positive feedback regarding the cleanliness and quality of the facilities suggests a comfortable stay. To get the most accurate information about services available during your intended travel dates and to make reservations, it is recommended to contact Woodland Park Campground directly at the provided phone numbers.
