Alsea River R V Park Introduce
Welcome to Alsea River R V Park, a unique RV camping destination nestled along the scenic Alsea River in Waldport, Oregon. If you're searching for "RV parks near me" that offer a blend of natural beauty and opportunities for river-based activities, Alsea River R V Park, located at 3911 E Alsea Hwy, Waldport, OR 97394, provides a distinctive camping experience on the Oregon Coast.
Based on recent guest feedback, Alsea River R V Park is under the dedicated care of gracious and hospitable owners, particularly Nancy, who are committed to enhancing the park and ensuring guests enjoy their stay. Several improvements have been implemented since their purchase, with ongoing plans for further upgrades visible throughout the property. This dedication to development suggests a positive trajectory for the park's future and the amenities it will offer.
One of the standout features of Alsea River R V Park is its direct access to the Alsea River. Guests have lauded the dock area as a fantastic spot to relax by the water and engage in activities such as crabbing. The ability to throw crab pots directly from the dock offers a unique and convenient experience for those interested in local seafood harvesting. The river itself becomes an integral part of the camping experience, providing opportunities for fishing and enjoying the waterfront environment.
The owners are also recognized for their accommodating nature, particularly towards unconventional RVs like "Skoolie" conversion buses, which are welcomed as guests (though not for permanent residency). This open-minded approach can be a significant advantage for travelers with unique vehicle setups who may find limited options at other RV parks.
The park is currently undergoing renovations and upgrades, which include the removal of older mobile homes and the installation of concrete parking pads with hook-ups. This ongoing development signals a commitment to modernizing the facilities and improving the overall infrastructure of the RV park. It's worth noting that Alsea River R V Park does accommodate both short-term guests and long-term residents, offering flexibility for various accommodation needs.
However, some areas for improvement have been identified by recent guests. One camper noted that the lower camp area could benefit from leveling and the addition of crushed rock to improve cleanliness and reduce mud, particularly around the RV rigs. This is an area that the owners may address in their ongoing improvement plans.
Another guest provided a detailed breakdown of their experience, highlighting both the positives and negatives. While they awarded 5 stars for being one of the few parks in the area accepting "Skoolies" and 4 stars for the friendly and hardworking owners and the ongoing upgrades (including concrete pads and hook-ups), they also deducted stars for cleanliness issues in the men's restroom and shower facilities during their stay. The overflowing waste paper basket and the muddy conditions left by some permanent residents in the shower area were specific concerns. The reviewer also noted instances of poor cleaning when it was done.
Further deductions were made due to the ongoing construction, the distance to the garbage cans and shop area from certain spaces, and the lack of some amenities in parts of the park. For instance, one space had cut TV cables while others had service, indicating some inconsistency in available hookups across different sites.
For guests with fishing boats, it's important to be aware that the Alsea River's water level is significantly influenced by ocean tides, with fluctuations throughout the day and a tendency to rise in the late afternoon. This is a valuable piece of information for those planning to use the river for boating or fishing activities.
In summary, Alsea River R V Park offers a unique riverside camping experience in Waldport, Oregon, with direct access to the Alsea River for fishing and crabbing. The owners are actively engaged in upgrading the park, with improvements such as concrete parking pads underway. Their hospitality and acceptance of diverse RV types are notable positives. However, potential guests should be aware of ongoing construction and reported inconsistencies in amenity availability and restroom cleanliness. It is advisable to inquire about the specific amenities and conditions of your assigned space when making a reservation.
Prospective visitors seeking "RV parks near me" with river access and a hands-on, improving environment may find Alsea River R V Park appealing. The opportunity to crab from the dock and the friendly owners are significant draws. However, it would be prudent to inquire about the progress of the renovations and the current status of amenities and cleanliness, particularly if these are high priorities for your stay.

Alsea River R V Park Reviews
Camped here for a week and had so much fun. Nancy is a gracious, hospitable owner that goes above and beyond to help you enjoy your stay. She mentioned they have had plans and still have plans for improvement since purchasing, and you can see they are working hard towards them. The dock is great to sit on and enjoy the river or throw crab pots from. The one thing we would like to see is the lower camp area leveled with crushed rock so it's a little cleaner rather than muddy/grassy around the rigs. Other than that we definitely will be back!
Nov 01, 2023 · karen garciaI stayed from July 22nd to the 25th. I'm breaking up my STAR rating like this;- 5 stars, as they are one of the few rv parks in the area, that allow / except "Skoolie" RV conversion buses. (Only as guests. No permanent residents)- 4 stars for the owners. Nice freindly couple that are putting a lot of work into upgrading this RV park. They are currently removing old mobile homes and are upgrading the park with concrete parking pads W/hook-ups. Note they have "permanent" residents and offer long term occupancy.- I deducted ONE Star because, during my stay. The men's room w/shower was NEVER CLEANED! Waste paper basket was over flowing after 4 days and a couple of "permanent residents" left a muddy / dirty mess in and out of the shower area daily. Floor was never mopped.Quite honestly, if you looked closely enough. You could see, when cleaning was done. It was done POORLY.- I deducted a 2nd Star do to the construction going on, distance to the icky garbage cans / shop area and the lack of some amenities in parts of the park. My "space" had the cables cut for TV. While others had the service. As a side note if you have a fishing boat. I noted that river level was mostly very low. It fluctuates with the ocean tides and does rise quite a bit in late afternoon.
Jul 31, 2024 · Kolbe's Skoolie travelsThis was such a well maintained and cared for park. The owners went out of their way to help us . We didn’t have a converter and Nancy was calling her friend down the road to assist! We had loose plans and the holiday week was difficult to accommodate our 37 foot rug, but Nancy said no problem and we stayed for 4 nights! Close to Newport by 25 minutes, and Depoe a bay by 30. But the drive was no problem because of the famous 101 coastal viewsI would definitely recommend and give them a call!Rootbeer floats and lots of information on the town they were amazing hosts
