Big Spruce Resort RV Park & Cabin Rental Introduce
For those searching for "RV parks near me" in the Hoquiam, Washington area, or looking for cabin rentals as an alternative to RV living, Big Spruce Resort RV Park & Cabin Rental, located at 7 Riverview Dr, Hoquiam, WA 98550, USA, presents a mixed picture based on available customer reviews. You can reach them at (360) 288-0138 or +1 360-288-0138 for inquiries about RV site availability and cabin rentals. This resort offers both RV parking and cabin accommodations with the notable feature of riverfront access, positioning it as a potential gateway to adventures along the Washington coast and the Olympic Peninsula.
One of the initially appealing aspects of Big Spruce Resort is its location and the amenities it advertises. The resort boasts "ample camping with riverfront access," which can be a significant draw for RV enthusiasts who enjoy waterfront settings and the potential for activities like fishing or simply relaxing by the river. The availability of both RV parking and "quaint cabins" provides flexibility for different types of travelers and accommodation preferences. For those searching "RV parks near me" but also considering cabin stays for part of their trip or for non-RVing companions, Big Spruce offers a dual option.
The cabins at Big Spruce Resort are described as "affordable," which is noted as a valuable find in the current market. This affordability can make them an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers or those seeking a more structured accommodation than an RV without breaking the bank. The positive aspects of the cabins mentioned by one reviewer include a "nice shower," a "full galley size kitchen," and "surprisingly comfortable futon beds." These features suggest that the cabins are equipped for basic comfort and self-sufficiency, making them suitable for longer stays or families.
The same reviewer who stayed in a cabin tempered their praise by stating, "It's not the Ritz so don't expect anything more than a place to sleep between adventures around the river, coast and Olympic peninsula." This sets a realistic expectation that the accommodations are functional and budget-friendly, primarily serving as a base for exploring the surrounding natural attractions. The proximity to the river, the coast, and the Olympic Peninsula is a significant advantage for those looking to engage in outdoor activities in the region.
While the riverfront access is mentioned as a feature, the same reviewer noted that "fish weren't biting, but they were there," suggesting that while the location might be suitable for fishing, success is not guaranteed. However, the mere presence of fish could still be appealing to anglers looking for "RV parks near me" or cabin rentals with fishing opportunities.
However, a more critical review paints a less favorable picture of a recent stay at Big Spruce Resort. This reviewer, who had previously enjoyed pleasant getaways at the location, experienced several significant issues during a more recent visit. These issues included a non-working stove and fireplace upon arrival (which the boyfriend had to fix himself), a significant infestation of various bugs (flies, ladybugs, and potato bugs) inside the accommodation, and unsanitary conditions in the shared showers ("every shower was full of hair and other people's belongings"). Additionally, the water in their cabin's shower was cold, there was a suspicious stain on the bathroom door, and a blanket smelled of vomit.
This stark contrast in experiences highlights a potential inconsistency in the cleanliness and maintenance of the resort. While one reviewer found the cabins affordable and adequate for basic needs, the other's experience raises serious concerns about hygiene and the functionality of amenities. For those considering Big Spruce Resort as one of the "RV parks near me" or for cabin rentals, these conflicting reviews suggest the need for caution and potentially direct inquiry about the current conditions and maintenance standards.
Given these mixed reviews, it is difficult to provide a uniformly positive or negative introduction. The resort offers the appealing combination of RV parking, affordable cabin rentals, and riverfront access, making it a potentially attractive base for exploring the natural beauty of the Washington coast and the Olympic Peninsula. However, the significant issues reported by one recent guest regarding cleanliness and maintenance cannot be ignored and should be a point of concern for prospective visitors.
To make an informed decision, local users searching for "RV parks near me" or cabin rentals in the Hoquiam area should contact Big Spruce Resort directly at (360) 288-0138 or +1 360-288-0138 to inquire about the current state of the facilities, their cleaning protocols, and the functionality of amenities in both the RV park and the cabins. It would be prudent to ask specific questions based on the issues raised in the negative review, such as the frequency of cleaning for shared facilities, pest control measures, and the maintenance schedule for appliances in the cabins.
Prospective visitors might also want to inquire about the specific features of the RV park, such as the size and hookups available at the RV sites, the availability of water and sewer connections, and any other amenities offered to RV guests (e.g., laundry facilities, restrooms, showers). Information about pet policies would also be relevant for those traveling with animals.
In conclusion, Big Spruce Resort RV Park & Cabin Rental offers a potentially convenient location with riverfront access and affordable accommodation options near popular tourist destinations. However, the conflicting customer reviews, particularly the recent negative experience detailing significant cleanliness and maintenance issues, suggest that prospective visitors should exercise caution and thoroughly investigate the current conditions before making a booking. Contacting the resort directly with specific questions about their cleaning and maintenance practices is highly recommended for anyone considering this as one of their options for "RV parks near me" or cabin rentals in the Hoquiam area.

Big Spruce Resort RV Park & Cabin Rental Reviews
Quaint cabins and ample camping with riverfront access. The cabins are affordable, which is hard to find in this str market. Nice shower, full galley size kitchen and surprisingly comfortable futon beds. It's not the Ritz so don't expect anything more than a place to sleep between adventures around the river, coast and Olympic peninsula. Fish weren't biting, but they were there. Nice to see nonetheless.
Oct 06, 2024 · M JThis has been a place my daughter and I go to get away. Always clean and we have a great time. I decided to show my boyfriend our secret place. He arrived before me , to a stove not working, a fireplace not working. He ended up fixing it himself. When I arrived there were so many bugs! Flies, Lady bugs, and potatoes bugs! We decided to go look at the showers on the premises every shower was full of hair and other people's belongings. I tried to take a shower in our cabin and the water was cold, and when I shut the door on the bathroom it looked like there was someone who peed on the door. Going to bed the white blanket on the rocker chair smelled of vomit! I am not one to complain but we will not make this a girls getaway again.
Mar 24, 2025 · Don PerryI've been here almost a month and no one has cleaned the bathroom or shower area. The small garbage can by the bathroom is full and smells bad . They did mow the grass and left clumps of wet grass that gets tracked into the camper. I've not seen inside the cabins but if they are maintained like the rest for RV's I suggest you check the bedding.
Mar 31, 2025 · Eileen StrattonAfter a long day of biking, our bike tour group was pleasantly surprised with the amount of amenities offered by Big Spruce. Immediately, when our group of 6 first arrived on the premises, we were greeted by the sweetest host, and told we could camp anywhere on the huge open field located behind the RV area. There were multiple picnic tables, and lots of space for everyone. We were also very pleased with the bathroom situation. It was a building that contained 4 private and clean rooms, each containing a toilet, sink, and shower. Even though it does cost some quarters to do laundry, the showers are completely free for usage. The privacy and hospitality offered made our biking group feel very welcomed on the site, and we would highly encourage any campers passing through Humptulips to stay at Big Spruce for a night.
Aug 09, 2024 · Jake PlevaIf I could rate more than five stars, I would! Vicki was, hands down, the nicest and easiest person to coordinate with. Both she and Tony went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Clean bathrooms/showers, laundry room, and sites. The grounds are gorgeous and access to the river was great. Will absolutely stay again, and recommend Big Spruce to anyone traveling through the area!
