Duck Island RV Park and Fishing Resort - All campers and guests must be 18 years of age or older. Introduce
Looking for "RV parks near me" in the scenic Rio Vista, California area? Duck Island RV Park and Fishing Resort, located at 16814 CA-160, Rio Vista, CA 94571, offers a unique, adult-only (all campers and guests must be 18 years of age or older) riverside experience in the heart of the Sacramento River Delta. You can reach them at (916) 777-6663 or via mobile at +1 916-777-6663 to inquire about availability and rates for your next getaway or extended stay.
Based on feedback from recent visitors, Duck Island RV Park boasts a prime location with "amazing views" and, for some sites, a pier directly behind them, offering immediate access to the river. The sunsets over the river are frequently described as "gorgeous," creating a truly picturesque setting for your stay. While one reviewer noted that fishing yielded smaller catches (under 12 inches), the opportunity to fish right from the park's pier is a significant draw for anglers.
The community within Duck Island RV Park is often highlighted as "very friendly," with a mix of approximately 60% full-time residents and 40% available spaces for weekenders, totaling around 50 sites. This blend fosters a welcoming atmosphere where weekend visitors can easily get to know their neighbors. The full-time residents are known to organize community events in the clubhouse, such as Super Bowl potlucks with a projector, indicating a strong sense of community and social interaction.
For pet owners, Duck Island RV Park offers the convenience of "plenty of grass for pets in all sites," making it a comfortable place for your furry companions. Additionally, the park features a solar farm on-site, and for those staying monthly, power is included in the rent, which can be a significant cost saving and an environmentally conscious feature. The park is also described as "quiet, gated, and safe," providing peace of mind during your stay.
However, it's important to be aware of some of the park's characteristics, as noted by visitors. One point is the potential for tight spacing between sites if you have side neighbors, although one reviewer was fortunate to avoid this. Another key aspect is the absence of community restrooms or showers. Duck Island RV Park operates under the expectation that all RVs are "self-sufficient" in this regard. However, laundry facilities are available on-site, although the small size (4 washers/dryers) and potentially limited access to quarters (sometimes available at the office) are mentioned as minor inconveniences.
Given its riverside location in the Delta, Duck Island RV Park can also be "very windy." The proximity to one of the largest wind farms in the country across the river explains this phenomenon, and there is a lack of natural buffers like trees to mitigate the wind. Additionally, the park's location near a major drawbridge can occasionally lead to "long/dead stopped traffic along all routes in and out," which might impact travel plans.
Despite these cons, the overall sentiment from reviewers is positive, with one long-term guest (two months for work) stating it's "probably one of the best RV Resorts you will find, primarily due to location and size," and wishing their stay could have been longer. They concluded that the cons are "minimal compared to how beautiful and peaceful it is in this park" and would "highly recommend" it.
In summary, Duck Island RV Park and Fishing Resort offers a unique adult-oriented (18+) experience with significant advantages, particularly its stunning riverside location, friendly community, and included power for monthly stays. Key features include:
- Adult-Only Environment: Ensuring a mature and potentially quieter atmosphere.
- Prime Riverside Location: Offering amazing views and direct river access.
- Fishing Pier Access: Providing convenient fishing opportunities.
- Friendly Community: A mix of full-time and short-term residents fostering a welcoming environment with community events.
- Pet-Friendly: Plenty of grassy areas for your pets.
- Included Power (Monthly Stays): A cost-saving and eco-friendly feature due to the on-site solar farm.
- Gated and Safe: Providing security and peace of mind.
- On-Site Laundry Facilities: Offering convenience for longer stays.
However, potential guests should also consider the following:
- Potentially Tight Site Spacing: Depending on neighboring RVs.
- No Public Restrooms or Showers: Self-contained RVs are required.
- Can Be Very Windy: Due to the open Delta environment and proximity to wind farms.
- Proximity to a Drawbridge: May result in traffic delays.
- Small Laundry Facility: With a limited number of machines and potentially challenging access to quarters.

For those seeking a peaceful and scenic adult-only RV experience along the Sacramento River Delta, with a strong sense of community and opportunities for fishing, Duck Island RV Park and Fishing Resort presents a compelling option. While self-sufficiency in terms of restrooms and showers is necessary, the beautiful location and friendly atmosphere appear to outweigh the minor inconveniences for many visitors. We encourage you to reach out to them to plan your riverside retreat.

Giving this place a 3.5. Alot of full timers. We got lucky and had no side neighbors but if we did it would have been super tight. Another thing there’s no community restroom/ or showers. Laundry on site. Amazing views and pier right behind our site. Fishing was a miss, all were under 12 inches oh well! You can hear the highway it’s very close. Overall we had a nice and relaxing stay.
Nov 12, 2024 · Leila DevineProbably one of the best RV Resorts you will find, primarily due to location and size. Our stay was 2 months for work, but we wish it was longer. The park is about 60/40% full time residents/ available spaces for weekenders, around 50 sites total. Very friendly community, definitely a park where you learn your neighbors, plus the full timers will have events in the clubhouse (like a projector and potluck for superbowl). If you are on the waters edge, it's easily the best park around, gorgeous sunsets over the river ever night. Plenty of grass for pets in all sites. The park has a solar farm on-site and power is included in the monthly rent. Quiet, gated, safe.Cons:-Small laundry facility (4 washers/dryers) with difficult access to quarters (sometimes office will have them)-Won't affect most people, but no on-site bathrooms/showers, it's expected and told that your rig is to be self sufficient.-Can get very windy. Across the river is one of the largest wind farms in the country, there's a reason for it being placed there and no buffer, like trees, exists between you and the wind.-Close proximity to a major drawbridge, which can result in long/dead stopped traffic along all routes in and out.Overall, the cons are minimal compared to how beautiful and peaceful it is in this park. Would highly recommend!
Apr 26, 2023 · Joe HClean, well managed and surprisingly quiet even though it’s right along highway. Had a river front spot with peaceful views and easy access to huge communal lawn area along river. Felt safe with gate closed at night. Friendly campers, close to town for supplies and events. We’ll be back!
Oct 25, 2023 · Janice MarkerWe enjoyed our short 3 day stay at Duck Island. The RV park was kept in perfect shape. Each site had crushed rock to park RV's and trailers on, with a long paved pad for vehicles and a picnic table. The hooks up (E/W/S) were conveniently located in one spot, along with cable (if so desired). The main gate is closed at night, so take the code with you (we learned the hard way!)!!! They were very nice about it, but it was embarrassing!
Dec 06, 2019 · David PritzosThe managers are fantastic. They work with you and they are so nice. It is windy, but they keep the park up and it’s very clean. Only problem is you can’t have kids there
