Lake Shore 55+ Manufactured Home Community Introduce
Are you a local user in Leesburg, Florida, searching for "RV parks near me" with the intention of finding a long-term residential option within a 55+ manufactured home community? Lake Shore 55+ Manufactured Home Community, located at 1208 Lee St, Leesburg, FL 34748, USA, presents a dual perspective based on the available online reviews. One resident speaks highly of the community's tight-knit and friendly atmosphere and its amenities, while another expresses significant dissatisfaction with rising costs, pool maintenance, and safety protocols during severe weather. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Lake Shore based on these contrasting viewpoints to help local users make a well-informed preliminary assessment.
One reviewer describes Lake Shore as a "Tight knit friendly community of 55+ seniors." This highlights a key aspect often sought in retirement communities: a welcoming and supportive social environment. The reviewer notes that the park is "Well maintained by community and management," suggesting a collaborative effort in keeping the grounds and facilities in good condition. They also praise the "Friendly office staff" who are reportedly "eager to assist when needed," indicating a positive interaction with the community's administration.
Furthermore, this positive review details various social activities that are typically offered when not significantly impacted by events like a pandemic. These include bingo twice a week, Tuesday morning donuts (suggesting a regular social gathering), and Euchre, as well as other social activities posted monthly in the community's post office. These activities indicate an active social calendar designed to engage residents and foster community interaction. The presence of a "Boat dock and fishing pier" is also highlighted as an amenity catering to those who enjoy angling and spending time on the water. Additionally, a "swimming pool" is mentioned as an option for outdoor recreation. Based on these observations, this reviewer "would highly recommend this retirement community to anyone over 55," suggesting a positive overall living experience.
In stark contrast, another reviewer expresses a highly negative opinion of Lake Shore. This resident states, "Terrible here. Lot rent goes up every year," echoing a common concern in many mobile home communities where residents own their homes but lease the land. The increasing cost of lot rent can significantly impact the affordability of living in the community over time.
This negative review also raises concerns about the community's amenities and safety protocols. Regarding the pool, the reviewer notes that it "Took 2 years to get a brand new pool and it's closed more then it's open. Its ashame." This suggests potential issues with the maintenance or management of a key recreational facility, leading to limited availability for residents. The reviewer further states, "Plus if there is ever a tornado. They are not allowed to go in the clubhouse. That is awful how they treat there residents. Run as far as you can." This is a serious safety concern, as the clubhouse often serves as a potential shelter during severe weather events in other communities. A policy prohibiting access during a tornado could leave residents feeling unsafe and poorly cared for by the management.
The significant disparity between these two reviews underscores the importance of thorough investigation for any prospective resident considering Lake Shore 55+ Manufactured Home Community. While one resident enjoys the friendly atmosphere, amenities, and helpful staff, another reports rising costs, unreliable amenities, and concerning safety policies.
For local users considering Lake Shore as a potential long-term residence within a 55+ community, it is crucial to seek current and comprehensive information. The following steps are strongly recommended:
- Contact Lake Shore 55+ Manufactured Home Community directly at (352) 352-2557 or +1 352-352-2557 to inquire about the current lot rental rates and the history of annual increases. Understand the terms of the lease agreement regarding rent adjustments.
- Specifically ask about the operational status and maintenance schedule of the swimming pool. Inquire about the reasons for any frequent closures reported by residents.
- Critically, inquire about the community's emergency preparedness plan, particularly regarding severe weather events like tornadoes. Understand the policy on clubhouse access during such events and what alternative shelter options are recommended or provided for residents.
- Attempt to speak with a diverse group of current residents to gather a broader range of experiences and opinions about living in Lake Shore. Inquire about the sense of community, the responsiveness of management, and the upkeep of amenities.
- If amenities like the boat dock and fishing pier are important, ask for details regarding their accessibility, any associated fees, and their condition.
- Inquire about the social clubs and activities currently available, especially in light of any ongoing health or safety considerations.
- Visit the community in person to assess the overall environment, the condition of the facilities, and the general atmosphere.
For local users specifically searching for short-term "RV parks near me," Lake Shore 55+ Manufactured Home Community, being a 55+ manufactured home community focused on long-term residency, is likely not the appropriate option. These communities typically cater to individuals who own or lease manufactured homes on a long-term basis.
In conclusion, Lake Shore 55+ Manufactured Home Community in Leesburg, Florida, presents a mixed picture. While it appears to offer a friendly, active senior community with amenities like a boat dock, fishing pier, and social clubs, there are significant concerns raised about rising lot rent, frequent pool closures, and a potentially unsafe policy regarding clubhouse access during tornadoes. Local users considering long-term residency here must conduct thorough due diligence to weigh these contrasting perspectives and determine if the community aligns with their financial, recreational, social, and safety needs.

Sep 26, 2024 · Trish N Jerry BarnetteI live here. I like it and think it has a lot to offer. I have a dog but there are those that don't like animals here. I don't let them ruin my occupancy! The lake is beautiful! Office staff are friendly and helpful. I enjoy the amenities our community has to offer. Most people are quite friendly. My wife and I own three homes in this quiet, laid back, community.
Mar 29, 2021 · Jerry BarnetteWoah, talk about a view ! One of the most beautiful lake fronts I’ve seen yet in Florida. Beautiful fire pit overlooking the lake. Amazing place to sit on recliners under a gazebo over looking the lake and watch birds and wild life run along the palms and oaks scattered along the shore line. I managed to grab a great shot of one of the neighborhood hawks visiting the marina by the lake front. Love visiting this community they have a great manager and maintenance crew !
