For local users searching for "rv parks near me" in the Kirkville, New York area, Shady Lane Community, Inc., located at 785 Fyler Rd, Kirkville, NY 13082, USA, warrants careful consideration based on recent customer feedback. You can contact them at (315) 937-9000 or +1 315-937-9000 for further information.
The environment of Shady Lane Community, Inc., as described by recent reviewers, presents significant concerns. One reviewer characterizes the roads within the park as "horrible" and mentions "old rotten trees" that pose a falling hazard. This suggests potential safety and maintenance issues within the community's infrastructure. The lack of timely and effective snow plowing, coupled with the absence of salt application, leading to "a nice sheet of ice," further indicates potential hazards, particularly during the winter months for those walking within the park.
In terms of services and management, the reviews paint a largely negative picture. One reviewer describes the owner as "nasty, mean, unprofessional" and claims a lack of care for tenants. Allegations include the owner telling a resident to remove a fallen tree themselves or move out. Furthermore, this reviewer describes intrusive behavior, such as the owner "driving around slowing down to inspect everyone's home, yard" and interfering with children playing outside by telling them to go inside. Complaints about restrictions on children playing and walking, including an instance of being followed in a car, raise serious concerns about the community's atmosphere and management style.
Another reviewer echoes these concerns, labeling Shady Lane Community, Inc. as a "terrible place to live if you are anything but old and unable to drive." This suggests a potentially unwelcoming environment for families and younger individuals. Specific restrictions mentioned include not being allowed to perform maintenance on personal vehicles and observations of rental housing being in "terrible condition," including an abandoned trailer left to rot on the property. These points are critical for anyone considering residing in their RV at this location, as they highlight potential limitations and the overall upkeep of the community.
The infrastructure issues are further emphasized by the second reviewer, who reiterates that the "roads are in terrible condition with pot holes being filled with gravel." The lack of effective snow removal and the resulting icy conditions are again highlighted as a significant safety concern, particularly for children needing to walk to the school bus stop located at the front of the park. The strict parking policy, limiting residents to two cars regardless of driveway or lot size, is also presented as a major inconvenience for families with teenagers or more than two vehicles. The offered alternative of parking at the front of the park is deemed insufficient due to limited space and the hazardous winter walk across potentially icy terrain.
The management's behavior, as described, is particularly troubling. Allegations include "driving around in their vans evicting younger couples" and seemingly prioritizing the complaints of a few older residents, creating a divisive and potentially hostile environment. The reviewer also recounts an incident of being berated for speeding while driving at the speed limit with windows down, suggesting an overbearing and potentially confrontational management style.
While the platform category is "rv parks near me," the strong emphasis in the reviews on long-term residency in mobile homes and the negative experiences described raise serious questions about the suitability of Shady Lane Community, Inc. for short-term or even long-term RV stays. The issues with management, infrastructure, and the overall community environment, as portrayed by these reviews, could significantly impact the quality of life for any RVer considering this location.
There is no mention of any specific services or features typically associated with RV parks in these reviews, such as hookups for water, sewer, and electricity, laundry facilities, communal areas, or recreational amenities. The focus is primarily on the negative aspects of the management and the living conditions within the mobile home community. This lack of information about RV-specific services further suggests that Shady Lane Community, Inc. may not be primarily designed or well-suited for accommodating RVs.
Similarly, no promotional information is provided in the given text. Given the overwhelmingly negative nature of the recent reviews, it is unlikely that there are any active promotions being highlighted. Potential RVers would need to contact the park directly to inquire about the possibility of RV stays, the availability of any RV-specific amenities, and any associated costs or policies. However, based on the strong negative feedback regarding the management and overall environment, proceeding with caution and seeking alternative "rv parks near me" might be advisable.
In conclusion, for local users searching for "rv parks near me" in the Kirkville, NY area, Shady Lane Community, Inc. appears to be a mobile home park with significant issues reported by its residents. The negative feedback regarding the owner and management, poor infrastructure maintenance (roads, trees, snow removal), restrictive rules (parking, vehicle maintenance), and an unwelcoming environment, particularly for families and younger individuals, are major red flags. There is no information suggesting that this community offers the typical services and amenities expected of an RV park. Therefore, local RVers are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly investigate before considering Shady Lane Community, Inc. for their RVing needs. Exploring alternative "rv parks near me" with more positive and relevant reviews would likely be a more prudent approach.

Mar 29, 2025 · DebTerrible place to live if you are anything but old and unable to drive. Don't allow you to do maintenance to your own vehicles, housing for rent is often in terrible condition, once an old trailer was haphazardly towed to the back of the property and left to rot. Roads are in terrible condition with pot holes being filled with gravel and plowing is never done on time or effectively. No salt is used which often leaves a nice sheet of ice for your children to fall on as they walk to the front of the park to board their school bus. Speaking of children, It it almost impossible to have a family with teenagers in the park as they do not allow you to have more than two cars in a driveway, no matter the size of the driveway or lot. They offer to let you park at the front, but there is insufficient parking space and often this means walking across a 1/4 mile of the aforementioned ice sheet in the winter to get the the front of the park, on which you will inevitably hurt yourself severely eventually and waste 15 minutes of your time each way daily. The management enjoys activities like driving around in their vans evicting younger couples and bending to the will of the few crotchety old men who live in the park who's wives have long since passed and have nothing better to do than to harass others, which the management not only facilitates but encourages. The woman who patrols the park must also think she has radar guns for eyeballs, as she will attempt to berate you for endangering lives and going a maddening speed if your windows are down as you pass even though you are going exactly the speed limit. PS. The back area where they make you store any boats campers etc. is not only full but infested with ants and possibly termites that will destroy anything wood and invest any camper if it has food in it. Terrible place to live.
