If you are searching for "RV parks near me" in the Kalamazoo area or considering a mobile home living situation, Sherwood Forest is located in this region. You can reach them at (269) 224-2809 or +1 269-224-2809 for inquiries about potential RV accommodations and mobile home availability. It is important to consider the recent and somewhat contrasting resident feedback to gain a comprehensive understanding of the community and its management.
For individuals and families exploring "RV parks near me," Sherwood Forest is primarily a mobile home community. While it may offer space for RVs (subject to availability and park regulations), the available reviews focus on the experiences of mobile home residents. Therefore, those interested in RV parking should directly contact the park to inquire about the availability of RV sites, the amenities provided for RVs, and the terms for both short-term and long-term stays. Understanding the experiences of current mobile home residents can offer some insight into the overall management and environment of the park, which may be relevant for RVers considering an extended stay.
Environment and Atmosphere:
The limited feedback available for Sherwood Forest Mobile Home Park presents a mixed view of the community environment and management. One long-term resident of five years describes the overall neighborly atmosphere as "fine." However, their experience with the management, both regional and park level, is overwhelmingly negative, labeling them as "dishonest" and "rude."
This reviewer details numerous issues, including alleged ignoring, lying about, or denying disputes regarding rent, utility bills, and charges. They cite an example of being charged $206 for one month of water and sewer and experiencing "radio silence" from management when questioning this high charge. This lack of communication and unresolved billing disputes can create a stressful environment for residents.
The long-term resident also claims that despite rising prices over their five years of residency, "0 improvements have been made" by management, with any improvements being solely due to the efforts of tenants. A significant example provided is the removal of playground equipment without replacement, which negatively impacts families with children in the community.
Concerns about infrastructure are also raised, with the parking lot and grounds reportedly flooding badly during rain or snowmelt, indicating potential drainage issues and inconvenience for residents. The reviewer alleges that management claims of improvements are false and that their focus is on personal gain rather than resident well-being, referring to residents as "scum." The regional manager's alleged use of the phrase "you people" when addressing tenants further contributes to the perception of disrespectful management.
The high turnover in park management, with three changes in five years, suggests instability and potential inconsistencies in policies and responsiveness. The enforcement of rules regarding children's toys outside, contrasted with the neglect of significant infrastructure issues like a parking lot full of "massive holes," highlights a potential misprioritization of concerns by management. The temporary inaccessibility of the only entrance and exit due to the movement of new houses without resident communication is another significant inconvenience and safety concern.
Serious infrastructure problems are further detailed, including a partial parking lot collapse and a large depression forming near a creek. The temporary "fixes" implemented by management, such as filling the depression with yard clippings and installing a non-functional drain, are described as inadequate and ineffective. The reviewer concludes by stating that the park is adding new units while failing to manage the existing ones and strongly advises others to "find somewhere else to live," wishing they could give a 0-star rating.
In contrast, a more recent review offers a significantly different perspective, stating that the park "has really improved within the last couple of years" and commending "Deana Carson" for caring for the community. This reviewer "highly recommend living here" and notes that it is "budget friendly." This positive feedback suggests that there may have been recent positive changes within the park, possibly related to new management or a shift in priorities.
The stark contrast between these two reviews highlights the importance of considering the timeframes and specific experiences reported. The long-term resident's detailed negative account points to significant historical issues, while the more recent positive review suggests potential improvements. Prospective residents should aim to gather the most current information to form an accurate picture of the current environment and management of Sherwood Forest Mobile Home Park.
Services and Amenities:
Based on the negative review, essential services such as maintenance and responsiveness to resident concerns appear to have been problematic in the past. Issues with billing accuracy and communication regarding these issues are also significant concerns. The removal of the playground without replacement indicates a reduction in community amenities for families. The flooding of grounds and the poor state of infrastructure, such as the parking lot and the bridge, suggest inadequate upkeep of the park's physical assets.
The positive review's mention of Deana Carson caring for the community implies a potential improvement in management responsiveness and a focus on resident well-being. The "budget friendly" aspect suggests that affordability may be a key feature, which could be attractive to some.
For individuals considering Sherwood Forest as one of the "RV parks near me," there is no specific information about RV amenities. Potential RV residents would need to contact the park directly to inquire about the availability of hookups for water, sewage, and electricity, the types and sizes of RV sites offered, and access to any shared facilities such as restrooms, showers, or laundry. Given the conflicting reports about management and maintenance, RVers should thoroughly investigate the current state of services and support available to them before committing to a stay.
Features and Highlights:
One potential highlight, based on the recent positive review, is the affordability ("budget friendly") of living in Sherwood Forest. The positive mention of Deana Carson suggests that there may be a caring and community-focused individual in a management role currently. The overall neighborly atmosphere, as noted by the long-term resident, could also be considered a positive aspect.
However, these potential positives must be weighed against the significant negative features detailed in the other review, including dishonest and rude management, unresolved billing disputes, lack of infrastructure improvements, safety concerns related to flooding and disrepair, the removal of the playground, and restrictive rules regarding personal property. The temporary inaccessibility of the park's entrance and exit is also a major drawback.
For those considering Sherwood Forest as one of the "RV parks near me," the limited information and the significant negative feedback regarding management and infrastructure should be a major consideration. The recent positive review offers a glimmer of hope for improvement, but thorough investigation is warranted to ascertain the current reality for all residents, including potential RVers.

Potential residents would need to independently assess the benefits of this location in terms of proximity to their personal needs and interests, keeping in mind the reported internal conditions and management practices of the park.

Sherwood Forest Mobile Home Park Reviews
Dishonest, rude management (regional and park management). Neighbors are fine, overall.Management will ignore, lie about, or deny disputes about your rent/ utility bill / charges on your bill / requests for information on having repairs made - I'm currently 6 days in to waiting for them to fix my rent statement as they're trying to charge me $206 for ONE month of water and sewer - when I argued that this is not normal usage and there is a discrepancy on my bill I was met with radio silence - going on 48 hours (with just a couple days till rent is due). Prices keep going up but, regardless of the lies they will tell people or say in response to this review, 0 improvements have been made in the 5 years I've lived here. The only improvements made have been by tenants. Management ripped down the play ground equipment and never replaced it. The parking lot and grounds flood terribly when it rains or the snow melts. They say they've made improvements but all they have done is line their pockets and treat residents like scum. The regional manager herself referred tenants as "you people" when I spoke to her on the phone, regarding harassment by a previous manager. Park management has changed 3 times in the time I've been here. They'll complain and threaten to fine you if you have children's toys outside but don't care that the parking lot is full of massive holes and their "fix" is to add more gravel every couple of years. There is a one lane bridge, over a creek, to enter and exit the park (which they'll move new houses in over and not communicate to residents that the only way in and out will be inaccessible during that time). Part of the parking lot collapsed last summer, and not far from it a large depression formed in the land next to the creek. Their fix was to fill the land with yard clippings and debris, and to fill in the hole and install a "drain" near the mail boxes (where the hole opened up). The drain doesn't drain, water still stands directly above it. They've recently added several new units, but can't manage the ones they already have. If I could give 0 stars I could. Word of advice, find somewhere else to live.
Jan 29, 2025 · Kimberly DunifinThis park has really improved within the last couple of years. Hats off to Deana Carson!!! She care for her community. I highly recommend living here plus it budget friendly.
Oct 15, 2024 · Darcilla LangstonDecent location but they do not care about much except money. The parking lot will have your vehicle heading to a mechanic(almost every time you drive through; even at 5mph.) They don't take care of the "playground" or the folks who rent from there.
Jun 04, 2022 · Jo ColeWent to look at a trailer for sale in there today. The on site manager was really nice n upfront about pros n cons. The trailer was not worth $1000 let alone the $3000 they are selling it for as a "handyman special" on top of that they expect a perfect record so if you have any kind of criminal history they will deny you.
Oct 16, 2022 · Chris PriceIt is a small but yet quiet little community I guess you could say of its own it doesn't have like a huge amount of mobile homes but it is a little nest of trailers in the middle I would say on Olmsted over by the fairgrounds and right next door to the K pep facility that is located there. To me it is more or less a one road in roundabout straight out type deal cuz there's only one road that just basically loops around I very small little playground I say for children and under the age of 12 more or less and there isn't very big yard areas in between the trailers due to them being so close together but it is a very quiet neighborhood I have never heard anything bad from my friends that do live there and they have stated themselves that the neighbors just basically stayed to themselves so it's not drama-filled like a lot of the larger mobile homes parts in the Kalamazoo county area
