Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City Introduce
Welcome to Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City, located at 1012 Recreation Way in North Salt Lake, Utah. For local users searching within the "RV parks near me" category, Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City presents itself as an option in the vicinity of the city. However, recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the facility's management, cleanliness, and customer service, which potential visitors should carefully consider. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based solely on the available online feedback, highlighting the environment, services, and features as experienced by recent guests, while also noting significant negative aspects.
One reviewer who stayed for four days at the end of January to have RV repairs done in town reported a very disappointing experience. A major issue was the cleanliness of the shower rooms, which they attributed to the facility being short-staffed with only one cleaner. Consequently, the restrooms were reportedly not clean. Furthermore, this guest stated that essential supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap were unavailable for three days. They were informed by staff that budget restraints prevented reordering these necessities promptly. Despite these shortcomings, the reviewer was still charged a fee for the clubhouse, which they were unable to use due to pre-booking. As they were dry camping due to freezing temperatures, the lack of toilet paper was a particularly significant inconvenience. The reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction with the lack of any compensation offered for these issues, deeming the experience "Unacceptable!"
Another review detailed an extremely negative interaction with the manager, Erica, whom the guest described as "so unprofessional" and lacking empathy. This reviewer had booked stays at both Sun Outdoors North Moab and Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City for a spring break trip that was preceded by the tragic death of their father. While Sun Outdoors North Moab readily provided a full refund due to the circumstances, the manager at Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City refused to offer a refund or even a credit for a future stay. The situation escalated when, during the conversation about a potential refund or credit, the manager allegedly canceled the reservation and then claimed the system would not allow her to reverse the cancellation to offer a credit. The reviewer contested this, asserting that a manager should have the authority to override such system limitations, especially given the extenuating circumstances. Adding to the frustration, the manager reportedly contradicted information provided by the rental reservation hotline, which stated that all four Moab Sun Outdoors locations shared the same ownership and cancellation policies as Salt Lake City. The reviewer felt that the manager "straight lied" and made no effort to assist a grieving customer, describing her as "heartless" and the business practice as "bad." This guest intended to contact corporate to address their poor treatment.
The sentiment expressed in these reviews is overwhelmingly negative, with one reviewer stating they would give a zero-star rating if possible. These accounts highlight significant potential issues with the management's professionalism, customer service, and the basic upkeep and supply of essential facilities within the RV park.
Based on the negative feedback, the environment and services at Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City may suffer from the following:
- Potentially unclean shower rooms due to understaffing.
- Lack of essential supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap in restroom facilities for extended periods.
- Unaccommodating and inflexible management, particularly in situations requiring empathy and customer service.
- Possible discrepancies in information provided by the local management compared to corporate or other locations under the same ownership.
- A policy of charging for amenities (like the clubhouse) even when guests are unable to use them.
Features that might typically be expected at an RV park, such as clean and well-stocked restrooms and a customer-focused management, appear to be areas of concern based on these reviews. The lack of compensation for significant inconveniences further suggests a disregard for guest satisfaction.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in the North Salt Lake City area, Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City might appear as an option. However, the strong negative feedback regarding cleanliness, lack of essential supplies, and unprofessional management should give potential visitors serious pause. While the location in North Salt Lake might be convenient for accessing the city or surrounding areas, the reported issues could significantly detract from the overall experience.
Before considering a stay at Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City, local users are strongly advised to:
- Contact the management directly at the provided phone numbers, (801) 355-1550 or +1 801-355-1550, to inquire about the current status of their facilities, staffing levels for cleaning, and supply management.
- Specifically ask about their policies on refunds, cancellations, and compensation for service failures.
- Inquire about the availability and cleanliness of restrooms and other amenities.
- Seek more recent reviews from other online platforms to determine if the issues raised have been addressed or if similar experiences are ongoing.
- Consider alternative RV parks in the North Salt Lake or surrounding areas that might have more consistently positive feedback regarding cleanliness, management, and customer service.
Given the severity of the issues reported in the available reviews, it would be prudent for potential guests to exercise caution and thoroughly investigate the current conditions and management practices at Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City before making a reservation. The negative experiences described highlight potential risks to comfort, convenience, and overall satisfaction.
In conclusion, while Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City is located in North Salt Lake and might be a geographically convenient option for those exploring the area or needing access to Salt Lake City, the recent customer reviews raise significant red flags. Issues with cleanliness, lack of essential supplies, and unprofessional management are serious concerns that potential visitors searching for "RV parks near me" should carefully consider. It is highly recommended to seek updated information and potentially explore alternative RV parks with more positive and reliable feedback to ensure a pleasant and hassle-free stay.

Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City Reviews
We were very disappointed with our experience at this facility. We stayed for 4 days at the end of January while we had work done to repair our slide in town. They were short staffed and only had one person cleaning the shower rooms, as a result they were not clean. In addition they were out of toilet, paper towels, and soap for three days! We were told by staff they had budget restraints and had to wait before they could reorder. Yet we were still charged a fee for the clubhouse that we couldn’t use because it was already pre booked. We were dry camping because of the freezing temperatures so the toilet paper was a big deal for us. They offered no compensation whatsoever. Unacceptable!
Mar 03, 2025 · Dr. Nancy StueweThe manager name Erica is so unprofessional and have no sense of empathy. I book this place and sun outdoor north Moab for Arches and Canyonland NP. My dad tragically passed away a week before our spring break trip. First I called sun outdoor north Moab to see if I can get a refund due to our circumstances. They didn’t hesitate to give me a refund even though it was two days before my initial check in because the lady understands that we are grieving. So when I gave this place a call to see if I can get a refund. She will not give me a refund nor did she gave me an options for a credit to stay for the future. On top of that while I was trying to negotiate for a refund she cancel my reservation and when I mention about getting a credit for future stay she said she can’t reverse it because the system wouldn’t let her. But she is a manager there which I know they have access to override some things. I mention that Moab gave me a full refund and she said they are not the same company. But when I called the rental reservation hotline they said all four of Moab’s sun outdoor are the same owners and the same cancellation policies. She straight lied and just didn’t make any effort from a business standpoint to help out a grieving customer. In. Also ask her one last time if there is anything she can do for me, she said she will not rebook my reservation or refund me. I’ve been camping with all types of private and public even resorts for over 10 yrs and never encountered such a heartless manger like her. I am gonna call corporate and talk to them about it. After I lost my father right before the trip and treated like this, that is just bad business and a bad manager. Shame on Salt Lake City Sun outdoors.Trying to give a zero star but it won’t let post.P.S. if the owner came across this post and read my comments please do something about it.
Apr 05, 2025 · noeun measWe had a very good three week stay here. We were in a premium site which I definitely recommend - it has a good grass space between each camper. I would definitely not recommend the smaller sites which are very tightly packed. The amenities were very clean and well kept. The pads super level and the grass areas well maintained. I really liked having the walking / biking trail accessible directly from the resort which provided miles and miles of trails for exercise in the afternoon. Staff were super friendly and helpful too. However, I am a little surprised that Sun Communities brands this one as a Sun Outdoors. This park seemed more like a Sun Retreats as the majority of RVs are long-stay residents and as such, it does not have lots of family amenities or vacation feel to it. Would definitely not come here with a bunch of kids. We are two adults who live full time in our trailer, so no problem for us, it was lovely and quiet. But for example, the pool was closed for the season when we arrived on Sep 22 and we had three weeks of weather in the high 80s and low 90s… that’s pool weather!!!Anyway, we had a very pleasant stay and it is a great location to jump down to Salt Lake City or Antelope State Park. We would come here again.
Oct 13, 2024 · Emily PiperStayed 30 days. Office personnel was great. Showers in the clubhouse were excellent. Laundry room clean and clubhouse inviting. Location was good for SLC business. Only downside is the location is not best for SLC air quality and traffic noise.
