This establishment operates under the Sun Outdoors brand, known for its extensive network of resorts and campgrounds across North America. Sun Retreats Fond Du Lac East is positioned as a comprehensive outdoor resort, catering to a diverse range of guests from RV enthusiasts seeking seasonal or short-term sites to families looking for cabin rentals. This introduction will provide an objective overview of the park, detailing its environment, services, features, and relevant insights from customer reviews, aiming to offer a complete picture for prospective visitors.
The environment of Sun Retreats Fond Du Lac East is set on 103 acres of verdant landscape in Glenbeulah, Wisconsin. This location places it within the scenic East Wisconsin Waters region, characterized by mature shade trees and a generally peaceful, secluded atmosphere, despite being a short drive from Wisconsin's larger cities. The natural beauty of the area is a key draw, with proximity to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, offering opportunities for nature trails, hiking, and observing local wildlife. The rural setting contributes to a quiet and serene ambiance, especially during off-peak times, allowing guests to truly relax and connect with nature. The distinct four seasons in Wisconsin mean that the park offers different experiences throughout the year, from lush green summers to potentially snowy winters, though its operating season typically runs from April 15th to October 15th.
Sun Retreats Fond Du Lac East offers a wide array of services designed to enhance the guest experience, going beyond what might be expected from a basic "RV Parks Near Me" listing. The park provides various site types, including short-term and long-term seasonal RV sites, as well as tent sites for a more traditional camping experience. For those without an RV or preferring more comfort, the park offers vacation rentals, including cabins of various configurations. These range from Rustic Studio Cabins sleeping up to 4, to Classic 1 Bedroom Cabins with bunks sleeping up to 6, and Standard 2 Bedroom Cabins that can accommodate up to 6 guests. These cabins are generally well-appointed, often including private bathrooms, air conditioning, heat, kitchenettes or full kitchens (depending on the cabin type), microwaves, mini-fridges, and sometimes even full-sized refrigerators, stovetops, and screened-in porches. Bed linens, pillows, and bath towels are typically provided in the cabins. Common services for all guests include access to clean restrooms and showers, a dump station, LP gas sales, and a general store for groceries and supplies. Laundry facilities are also available on-site, adding to the convenience for longer stays. The park also provides golf cart rentals, which, as noted by a reviewer, are quite popular and frequently used within the park, facilitating easy movement around the large property.
The features of Sun Retreats Fond Du Lac East are extensive and cater to a family-friendly vacation or extended stay. A prominent feature is the presence of three swimming pools – a Kiddie pool, a Medium pool, and a Large Sports pool, including a heated option and zero-depth entry, typically open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Beyond swimming, the park boasts multiple playgrounds, ensuring ample entertainment for children. For recreational activities, guests can enjoy an 18-hole miniature golf course (which may incur an extra fee), sand volleyball courts, shuffleboard, pickleball, and basketball courts. An arcade, known as the "Hide Out Arcade," offers a variety of games. The resort also plans themed weekends and organized activities, providing structured fun for all ages, including live music and entertainment, particularly on Saturday nights near the pool area, as mentioned in customer reviews. Nature trails are available for those who wish to explore the surrounding Kettle Moraine area. The park is also pet-friendly, with a fenced dog park for furry family members. A notable observation from reviews is the significant number of huge RVs, many with permanent decks, awnings, and porches, indicating a strong seasonal community where many guests leave their RVs on site for the entire operating season from April 15th through October 15th, fostering a unique, semi-permanent neighborhood atmosphere.
Regarding promotional information, Sun Retreats Fond Du Lac East, like many Sun Outdoors properties, would typically offer various packages and deals. These might include discounts for extended stays, seasonal rates, or special offers for booking in advance. Given the diverse accommodation options, there could be promotions specific to RV sites, tent sites, or cabin rentals. Information about specific vacation home sales for long-term residents might also be available through the park's management. The park’s official website and booking platforms would be the primary sources for current rates and availability. Customer reviews also provide insights into the experience. While one reviewer expressed disappointment about an initial cabin issue (non-working AC in a deluxe cabin leading to a downgrade), they noted an acceptable adjustment with a refund for the difference and extra compensation for the inconvenience. This suggests a willingness by management to address issues, though the initial disappointment is valid. The same reviewer highlighted the vibrant Saturday night atmosphere with live music and a packed pool, contrasting it with a quieter, more peaceful experience from Sunday evening onwards, suggesting that the park can cater to both lively weekend fun and more serene weekday relaxation. Another review noted a minor issue with weatherstripping in a cabin and a lack of hooks, but overall expressed a positive experience and a desire to return. These reviews, while specific, paint a picture of a dynamic environment with a strong community feel, particularly among seasonal residents, and a wide range of amenities for diverse preferences.
In conclusion, Sun Retreats Fond Du Lac East stands out as a comprehensive RV park and outdoor resort in Glenbeulah, WI, making it a strong contender for those searching "RV Parks Near Me." Its expansive property, diverse accommodation options including various RV sites and well-equipped cabins, and an extensive list of recreational activities and services, such as multiple pools, mini-golf, playgrounds, and organized entertainment, cater to a wide audience. The strong seasonal community adds a unique dimension to the park's atmosphere. While minor issues with cabin maintenance or initial discomforts can occur, the overall guest experience, as indicated by reviews, leans towards enjoyment and a desire for return visits. Sun Retreats Fond Du Lac East Reviews
We arrived to our deluxe 2 bedroom cabin that was very warm. All the windows were shut and AC were off on a 90 degree day. We learned quickly that the air wasn't working. We informed the staff and they had to downgrade us to a smaller cabin that only had 1 bedroom ans bunks in the hall. It also didn't have a kitchen or full size fridge. We were refunded the difference between the two cabins and also a little extra for the inconvenience. It was an acceptable adjustment but disappointing. Saturday night they had live music at the pool until about 10pm. It was a big party at the campground until pretty late. The pool was pretty packed. But starting Sunday evening it started to empty out and the rest of the week was quiet and peaceful. Three pools were nice. We enjoyed the mini golf which was an extra fee. There are 3 playgrounds. Clean bathrooms. Overall we enjoyed the stay and would visit again.
Aug 11, 2024 · Sugar LaingI've never seen anything like this place. It's mostly huge RVs, and the far majority of them have permanent decks/ awnings/porches attached to them. Most people seem to leave their RVs there from April 15th through October 15th. And most people have golf carts, so there's a lot of them everywhere. And the clubhouse also rents them out if you don't have one.Spent two nights in a 1 bedroom cabin. It had the basics and was a decent place to sleep. We did not spend much time inside of it . We had a great time with friends that have a permanent spot. The weatherstripping was missing from the entry door of our cabin which left a gap big enough for bugs to get in. And the cabin needed hooks- it would have been nice to have a place to hang up jackets, purse, towels to dry, etc.Overall, it was a good experience and we look forward to visiting our friends there next summer.
Sep 09, 2024 · Amy Lynn R.I've been coming here for a couple years and my family for many more but we won't be anymore. The bathrooms are gross with black mold in the showers and toilets peeling, there is music until late, too many go carts, very unhelpful and rude staff, the majority of the campground is seasonals, and the trading post only has merchandise with few items that would be useful while camping. When we arrived on our first day a seasonal camper was in our spot we reserved a year before. Overall we enjoyed the year's prior but with how rude the staff are and how messed up our entire vacation was, we don't feel the need to come here again.
Sep 02, 2024 · Grace MollWe have been seasonal campers for a little over a month now. Overall, we have been happy. It's been an unpleasant season for mosquitos and bugs but they did something and it got better. We have had a couple cruddy experiences but most of it was because I wasn't getting the emails they send to their seasonals. Our water shut off without warning. Our road got redone without warning. Our site was needing a heavy amount of work to clean it up but it was the best of the sites available. They did prorate us and help my husband back the camper in. They have been very helpful with letting us have some packages delivered there since we are a few hours from home. Mary has been very nice and helpful, always willing to give advice. They have a lot of events. People genuinely enjoy themselves (minus a few mud stickers). I would say it's the nicest campground in the area. The only real unfortunate thing is that it's 20/30 minutes from the nearest town for groceries and such. The pools are really nice, except for the cigarette butts and garbage left in the pool areas (mainly the kiddie pool). They do have a washer and dryer on site. Unfortunately, only one dryer works and it takes 2 times to dry them most of the way (1.5 hours) each load. They could fix the main parks slide, dryer, and just make sure they didn't allow cigarettes in the pool area. They could use their old bar area to sell booze so people didnt have to drive all the way to town. Other than that, I don't really have any suggestions. We will likely visit again in the future.
Aug 24, 2024 · MistiWe just stayed this weekend. Love the option of three pools. Free Father’s Day breakfast was a place. While eating I was able to the manager. She was talking about changes that have been made. Very pleasant. Mentioned our fridge was leaking someone came to fix it within an hour. All staff was nice and accommodating. I will say the sites are not private and crowded. Would come back.
