Sun Retreats Wild Acres Introduce
Looking for "rv parks near me" in the Old Orchard Beach, Maine area? Consider Sun Retreats Wild Acres, located at 179 Saco Ave, Old Orchard Beach, ME 04064, USA. You can reach them at (207) 934-2535 or their mobile number +1 207-934-2535 for inquiries. Based on recent customer feedback, potential local users should be aware of some concerns regarding site conditions and business practices at this location.
One detailed review from a user attempting to install a new 2025 destination trailer highlights significant issues with the condition of at least one of the RV pads. According to the review, after removing a camper that had been on the site for 20 years, the underlying "pad" was found to be a "mucky mess." The presence of nearby "wetlands" was mentioned as a contributing factor, with seepage into the lot occurring over the years, causing the previous camper to sink and cinder blocks to become embedded in the ground.
The reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the management's response, stating that they were told the condition was "normal" and the site was suitable for a camper. They also disputed the management's claim that the "damage" was due to the camper being removed on a rainy day. The issue of recurring flooding in the side yard during rain over the past year was also raised, with the reviewer indicating that no action was taken by management to address it.
Furthermore, the review suggests a disagreement over responsibility for making the lot usable for a new, relatively light (1500 lb) trailer. The reviewer felt that preparing a functional lot for a new camper should not be their expense, contrasting it with general maintenance. Despite having paid seasonal fees, they reported being in "limbo" regarding the usability of their assigned lot.
In addition to site condition concerns, the review also pointed out inconsistencies in staffing and customer service. The reviewer recounted being told that no staff would be available on a Saturday to allow buyers to remove the old camper, only to witness staff, including someone named Jess, present the following Sunday, showing a new camper to prospective customers.
Finally, the review included a serious allegation regarding business practices, claiming that a $500 deposit was "stolen." The reviewer stated they were not informed of an expiration date on a credit offered for a future booking after a refund was refused. They further claimed that when they tried to use the credit after one year, they were told it had expired and "there’s nothing they can do." The reviewer advised others to "beware of their business practices."
Considering this feedback, local users searching for "rv parks near me" and considering Sun Retreats Wild Acres should be cautious and potentially seek further information or clarification regarding site conditions and reservation/deposit policies. While this review pertains to a specific experience, it raises concerns about the maintenance of some sites and the park's handling of customer issues and financial matters.
Given the nature of the detailed negative feedback, it is difficult to objectively describe the environment, services, and features of Sun Retreats Wild Acres without potentially overlooking these serious concerns. The review does not provide much information about the amenities or overall atmosphere of the park, focusing instead on the problems encountered with a specific site and business dealings.
For local RVers, it would be prudent to inquire about the specific site you might be assigned, especially if you are planning to bring a new or heavier RV. Asking about the history of the site, any known drainage issues, and the park's policy on site preparation and maintenance could be beneficial. Additionally, clarifying the terms and conditions related to deposits, refunds, and credits would be advisable before making a commitment.
As this introduction aims to be objective based on the provided information, it must heavily weigh the detailed and critical feedback received. The absence of positive comments in this particular set of reviews further underscores the need for potential local users to conduct thorough due diligence before choosing Sun Retreats Wild Acres as their "rv park near me."
To get a balanced perspective, it would be helpful to seek out other reviews from different sources to see if the experiences described are isolated incidents or indicative of broader trends at Sun Retreats Wild Acres. You might also consider contacting the park directly to discuss any concerns raised in this review and to inquire about their current practices and site availability.
In conclusion, while Sun Retreats Wild Acres is located in the popular beach destination of Old Orchard Beach, ME, recent customer feedback highlights significant issues related to site conditions, maintenance, and business practices. Local users searching for "rv parks near me" should carefully consider this information and conduct further research before making a reservation. It would be wise to inquire specifically about the condition of your assigned site and to clarify all financial terms and policies.

Sun Retreats Wild Acres Reviews
So we are trying to get our brand new 2025 destination trailer in there…. We pulled the camper out that has been there for the past 20 years… to find that the “pad” the trailer is to sit on is a mucky mess. There’s is “wetlands” behind us that have been slowly seeping into the lot for the past 20 years. The camper was sinking and their cinder blocks were all the way sunk in the ground. When brought up to management and cooperate they said that it’s “normal” and that the site is suitable for a camper . They said that the “damage” was because we had the camper pulled out on a “rainy” day.We have been trying to resolve this for the past year. All last year whenever it rained out entire side yard would flood out. Brought it up to management …. And nothing happenedThey claim that all or this is normal and that it’s my expense to fix.Honestly I don’t believe it is…. General maintenance …. Yes… but to make the lot usable and functional to put a 1500 lb trailer on…. No.Ughhhhhhhhh I don’t even care about the seasonal fees! I just want a flipping lot that’s usable to put my brand new camper onWe’ve paid the season and are still in limbo……We asked if someone could be there on a Saturday to let the buyers in to remove the old camper. I was told that there was no one there on the weekends….. ok so we figured something else out …. THEN the following weekend we were there …. A new camper was being pulled in and Jess her self was there showing another couple around the campground ….. on a SUNDAY!I’m beyond frustrated! I’ve been comming here for 19 years and thought that we found our perfect “beach house” for our family!
Apr 24, 2025 · Heather CroninThey stole a $500 deposit from us. They never informed us of an expiration date on the credit they gave us to rebook for a future date, after refusing to just do a refund. Credits expire after one year and “there’s nothing they can do.” Beware of their business practices at this campground.
Mar 20, 2025 · Dakota BockusWe just spent a wonderful week at Wild Acres. The service was wonderful from check in to the store and beyond. We were having trouble with our camper and a member of maintenance helped us out as well as checked in on us later. The resort is very clean overall, the trolley service is super convenient and the activities are great. The only disappointment (and it was concerning enough to put it in a review) was the speed at which some golf carts and many bikes traveled through the campground. I was nearly hit twice by children not paying attention and simply going too fast. Please get the kids and adults too to slow down whether it is a golf cart, e bike or regular bicycle!
Aug 04, 2024 · Stacy MartinMy husband and I just spent 7 lovely days at wild acres. The staff, grounds and entertainment were all fabulous. Our only complaint is the showers. The young ones who do the cleaning were not very good when it came to the showers. I’d see them sitting around talking to each other so they didn’t have enough time to clean the showers. For the 7 days there were clumps of hair under the benches asking with the soap dishes which were ripped off the walls. I even used my shoe to pull the hair out so there were visible and the next day the clumps would still be there. Other than that, it was perfect and would go back.
Aug 09, 2024 · WE Union TravelThis review is for the Adventure Course (we didn’t stay here). The course is fantastic, with a great variety of fun challenges. Safety is paramount. Staff is very helpful and ready to jump in if someone is stuck. There are awesome zip lines! We have been here twice now and both times were a blast. I would give 2-3 hours for the whole place. Price was reasonable, and we will be back!
