The Point RV at Lake Hartwell Introduce
For local individuals and families exploring "RV parks near me" in the Townville, South Carolina area, The Point RV at Lake Hartwell presents itself as a potentially convenient option due to its proximity to the popular Lake Hartwell. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the RV park based on recent customer reviews found online, addressing the environment, services, features, and importantly, some significant concerns raised by visitors. It is recommended that local users contact The Point RV at Lake Hartwell directly at (864) 210-4569 or +1 864-210-4569 to gather the most current information and address any specific questions or concerns.
Environment: Close to the Water with Potential for Improvement
The primary environmental advantage of The Point RV at Lake Hartwell, as noted by a visitor, is its location "close to the water." This proximity to Lake Hartwell, a well-known recreational lake, suggests potential access to boating, fishing, and other water-related activities, which could be a significant draw for local users seeking a lakeside RV experience. However, beyond the location, some reviews indicate areas where the environment could be improved. One visitor described their site as "dirt, and unlevel both front to back and side to side," which could pose challenges for setting up and enjoying a comfortable stay. Another significant concern raised was the apparent transition of the park towards a more permanent residency model rather than a traditional campground. One reviewer stated, "The place is close to the water and could be nice, it just needs to be run like a campground versus a trailer park." This suggests that the atmosphere and the behavior of some long-term residents might detract from the experience of short-term campers seeking a typical campground environment. The mention of a nearby "Forrest fire at Table Rock State Park" leading a camper to stay at The Point RV indicates its availability as an alternative during unforeseen circumstances, but it doesn't speak directly to the inherent natural beauty or upkeep of the park itself.
Services: Mixed Experiences and Areas of Concern
Based on the recent customer reviews, the services and amenities at The Point RV at Lake Hartwell appear to present a mixed bag, with some positive interactions contrasted by significant shortcomings. One positive note is that "the guy who helped us park was super nice," indicating at least one instance of helpful and friendly staff interaction. However, this positive aspect is overshadowed by several reported issues:
- Unavailable Wi-Fi: A specific complaint mentioned that "wifi is unavailable due to squrial damaging wires ~ no potential repair date, no reduction in cost." This lack of a potentially advertised amenity without a clear resolution or price adjustment is a significant inconvenience for many travelers.
- Unlevel Sites: As mentioned in the environment section, the description of a "dirt, and unlevel" site suggests a lack of proper site maintenance and leveling, which can impact the comfort and functionality of an RV setup.
- Issues with Rental Unit: One particularly negative review detailed a stay in what appeared to be a rental unit (possibly a cabin or park model RV) and reported numerous serious issues, including loose plumbing fixtures, hanging power outlets, water-damaged holes, house roaches, dog hair and what appeared to be pubic hair on the bed, dirty dishes, a foul-smelling stove, a leaking toilet and bathtub, and a crusty towel. These are significant habitability concerns that would severely detract from any guest's experience.
- Noise Disturbances: Multiple complaints were made about noise from what were described as "campers" who live there. This included "coming and going at all hours" (11:30 PM, 2:00 AM, 3:30 AM) with vehicles like motorcycles and trucks, sometimes with children, leading to disrupted sleep for other guests.
- Rule Enforcement Issues: A discrepancy was noted regarding pet leash rules, with a long-term resident reportedly allowing their dog to run freely despite newly arriving campers signing agreements to keep dogs on leashes. This suggests inconsistent enforcement of park rules.
- Problematic Behavior from Some Residents: The review detailing neighbors allowing trash to accumulate in their fire pit for days, then burning it with plastic and other refuse, causing noxious smoke and safety concerns, paints a concerning picture of the behavior of some long-term residents and a potential lack of oversight.
These numerous negative reports raise significant concerns about the overall quality and maintenance of the facilities and the management's ability to ensure a positive experience for all guests, especially those staying for shorter periods.
Features: Proximity to the Lake, but Potential Drawbacks
The primary feature of The Point RV at Lake Hartwell appears to be its location near the lake, which could offer potential benefits such as:
- Access to Lake Hartwell: As mentioned, the proximity to the lake provides opportunities for boating, fishing, and other water-based recreation. Local users interested in these activities might find the location appealing.
However, based on the reviews, several aspects that might typically be considered features of an RV park seem to be lacking or negatively impacted:
- Quality of Sites: The report of unlevel and dirt sites detracts from what should be a basic feature of a functional RV park.
- Wi-Fi Connectivity: The unavailable Wi-Fi with no repair timeline is a significant drawback for travelers who rely on internet access.
- Cleanliness and Maintenance of Facilities: The detailed account of the unsanitary conditions in a rental unit raises serious concerns about the overall cleanliness and maintenance standards of the park's accommodations.
- Enforcement of Park Rules: The apparent lack of consistent rule enforcement regarding pets and noise levels can negatively impact the experience of other campers.
- Community Atmosphere for Short-Term Guests: The strong presence of long-term residents and the reported behaviors associated with some of them seem to detract from the traditional campground experience for short-term visitors. The park appears to function more like a "trailer park" than a transient-friendly campground, according to one reviewer.
While the proximity to the lake is a potential advantage, the numerous negative reports regarding site quality, amenities, maintenance, rule enforcement, and the overall atmosphere suggest that local users should carefully weigh these potential drawbacks.
Promotional Information: Proceed with Caution and Inquire Directly
The provided customer reviews do not mention any specific promotional offers for The Point RV at Lake Hartwell. Given the significant negative feedback in the recent reviews, local users considering this RV park should exercise caution and conduct thorough due diligence before making a reservation. If you are still interested due to the lake proximity, it is strongly recommended that you contact The Point RV at Lake Hartwell directly at (864) 210-4569 or +1 864-210-4569 to:
- Inquire about the current condition of the RV sites and any recent improvements. Specifically ask about site leveling and surface material.
- Check the current status of the Wi-Fi and whether a repair timeline has been established. Inquire if any compensation or alternative solutions are being offered in the interim.
- If considering a rental unit, ask detailed questions about the cleanliness, maintenance, and recent upkeep of the unit you are interested in. Request recent photos or, ideally, ask to view the unit before booking.
- Inquire about the park's policies regarding noise levels and the enforcement of rules for all residents, both short-term and long-term. Understand what measures are in place to ensure a peaceful environment for all guests.
- Ask about pet policies and how they are enforced throughout the park.
- Inquire about any available discounts or special offers, especially for local residents or extended stays, despite the lack of such information in the reviews.
- Seek clarification on whether the park primarily caters to long-term residents or if they are actively working to improve the experience for short-term campers.
Based on the publicly available recent reviews, The Point RV at Lake Hartwell appears to have significant issues that potential local users should be aware of. While its location near Lake Hartwell might be appealing, the reported problems with site conditions, amenities, maintenance, rule enforcement, and the overall atmosphere warrant careful consideration and direct communication with the management before making a booking. It is advisable to explore other "RV parks near me" in the Townville, SC area and compare their reviews and amenities before deciding on The Point RV at Lake Hartwell.

The Point RV at Lake Hartwell Reviews
Price was higher than we usually pay, the Forrest fire at Table Rock State Park closed that campground resulting in us staying at here. The guy who helped us park was super nice.wifi is unavailable due to squrial damaging wires ~ no potential repair date, no reduction in cost.Site was dirt, and unlevel both front to back and side to side.By Far our biggest complaint is related to the "campers" who live here...Newly arriving campers sign rules agreeing to keep dogs on leash. Some guy who mentioned having lived here 18 years travels on a golf cart with a little dog running alone side. The people next to us woke us up EVERY night, coming and going at all hours: 11:30, 2:00, 3:30... sometimes on a motorcycle sometimes in a truck with two small kids ~ frustrating. They let trash accumulate in their fire pit for days and then set it on fire. Once it was SMOLDERING real well they cleaned out the truck and added some more plastic and trash - we ran around tightening down windows! They never added a piece of wood, it smoked for hours ~ socks take a long time to burn. The place is close to the water and could be nice, it just needs to be run like a campground versus a trailer park.
Apr 15, 2025 · Michael ShafferThis place was awful. We were supposed to stay for two nights for the Clemson Carolina game and only ended up staying one. To start with All the handles to the plumbing fixtures were loose literally felt like they were going to fall off, power outlets hanging out the walls, water damaged wholes, house roaches, there was dog hair on the couch, what looked to be pubic hair on the bed, but hey if you’re hungry there were some crumbs on the bed also, the flooring was coming apart and it felt like it was rotted underneath, dirt everywhere, we tried to use the stove and it smelt like dead burning animal when turned on, the dishes were absolutely disgusting, there was crusty brown stuff on the towel, the toilet and bathtub leaked. I definitely would not recommend this place at all. We would’ve rather stayed in the car. Almost all the campers there are permanent residents who were playing music and riding ATVs all around (like 12:30 at night). It just wasn’t a good experience at all.
Dec 03, 2024 · Kaitlyn NesbittKim, the manager, is super nice. I only met her a couple months ago and my first impression was...she's very nice and has a kind hear. And boy was I right. Mike and Kim worked together with another guy there, sorry can't remember his name, because our power went out twice. And they came over both times and helped us. Not to mention when we first came there they were very informative. We asked alot of questions and still do lol. We're new to camper life and they, along with the residents here, have made it very pleasant for us. We love it here. Thank you Mrs Kim and your staff for being understanding and patient with us as well as being sooo kind. I'm giving yall 5 stars!! ❤️ 😍
Dec 15, 2024 · Valorie PattonVery quiet campground. We stayed in a cabin and it was very nice for a campground cabin. Much larger than usual. Pool was great and clean. Employees were seen working on things and cleaning things the whole week. Kids enjoyed the playground. Only downside was the internet was very spotty but to be expected because of location and the hot water didn’t stay hot very long.Overall we had a great time and we will probably return in the future!
Jun 13, 2024 · Libby CrockerPlace is a dump. 345.00 for 2 days in a cabin that was a storage shed converted to a so called cabin. A 5250 btu air conditioner in a window and, the filter was never cleaned. I know because I cleaned it. Bathroom smells of mildew as they use a cloth shower curtain. (Should be plastic) the shower head is something out of jail. Spay mist at best. Shower room on property is in disrepair and they need to install benches in shower rooms. I will never go back. 345.00 for 2 nights. I would be more comfortable sleeping in my car!
