Woodland Village RV/MH Park Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Portage, Indiana area? Woodland Village RV/MH Park, located at 5757 US-20, Portage, IN 46368, USA, offers a location that may suit your needs, especially if you're planning to visit the Indiana Dunes National Park. You can reach them at (219) 762-6578 or +1 219-762-6578 for inquiries.
Based on the available reviews from individuals who have stayed at or have some familiarity with Woodland Village RV/MH Park, we can piece together an objective introduction to this facility, keeping in mind that it serves both RV travelers and manufactured home residents. This introduction aims to provide local users, particularly those searching for "RV parks near me," with a detailed overview of its environment, services, and features.
One reviewer who stayed for a few nights while passing through highlighted the park's convenient proximity to Indiana Dunes National Park, a significant attraction for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. This suggests that Woodland Village RV/MH Park could be a suitable base for those looking to explore the natural beauty of the dunes. The same reviewer also mentioned the presence of a dog park accessible via a walk through the woods, or by driving, which is a notable amenity for travelers with pets.
However, this reviewer also pointed out that the experience felt primarily like "paying to park," as they did not observe a shower or bathroom area. This suggests that on-site restroom and shower facilities might be limited or non-existent for RV guests, which is an important consideration for those who rely on these amenities while traveling.
The parking situation for RVs was described as a "tight fit" with a 90-degree back-in. Despite this, the reviewer successfully maneuvered their 42-foot fifth wheel and parked their 1-ton truck next to it, indicating that larger rigs can be accommodated, albeit perhaps with some careful maneuvering. The reviewer also noted that the people at the park seemed "very friendly" and that the staff was "nice," contributing to a positive overall atmosphere.
A notable environmental factor mentioned by this and another reviewer is the heavy train traffic. One reviewer stated that the train is "loud and does shake the RV a little bit as it rolls through," while another acknowledged the "very heavy train traffic" but added that the park is "otherwise fairly quiet" once one gets used to the trains. This indicates that while the park might generally be peaceful, the frequent passing trains could be a significant source of noise and vibration for some visitors.
In terms of services beyond the basic parking, one reviewer mentioned that a nearby coin laundry costs $3.25 per load, which they felt was "a bit high." This implies that while laundry facilities are accessible, they are not on-site and come with an additional cost that some might find expensive.
To summarize the environment, services, and features of Woodland Village RV/MH Park based on the available reviews:
- Location: Conveniently close to Indiana Dunes National Park.
- Pet-Friendly: Offers a dog park accessible through the woods or by car.
- Spacious Sites: Can accommodate large RVs (up to a 42-foot fifth wheel with space for a truck).
- Friendly Atmosphere: Both staff and residents are perceived as friendly.

- Parking: Tight 90-degree back-in sites for RVs.
Considering the platform category "RV parks near me," Woodland Village RV/MH Park offers a location with easy access to a major natural attraction and welcomes pets with a dedicated dog park. The friendly community and staff are also positives. However, potential RV visitors should be aware of the likely limited on-site amenities regarding restrooms and showers, the challenges of the 90-degree back-in sites, and the significant noise from train traffic.

Woodland Village RV/MH Park Reviews
Worked for a few nights as we passed through. Close to Indiana dunes national park and as mentioned there is a dog park you can walk through the woods to get to. Or drive if you need to. You really just paying to park, unless I missed it I didn’t see a shower or bathroom area. It was a tight fit with the 90° back in. I did fit my 42 foot fifth wheel and parked my 1 ton truck next to it. The people here seem very friendly of the staff was nice. The train is loud and does shake the RV a little bit as it rolls through. The coin laundry nearby is $3.25 per load which is a bit high.
Jun 23, 2023 · Ryan SvoltoVery nice park. Very heavy train traffic so until you get use to it but otherwise fairly quiet
May 03, 2025 · Donald CampbellThis park was disappointing. There is not many parks to choose from in this area of the country, but my advice to you is pick somewhere else. This park is advertised in the Good Sams book but they do not offer a Good Sams discount. The park itself is not very clean and the further you get back into the park the more drity it gets. They say you will get 50 channels over your antenna but we could only pic up 9. 4 channels that would only come in for a few min at a time and 5 Spanish channels that came in crystal clear. Too bad I'm not bilingual. Maybe we would have gotten more channels if they would not have parked us directly under the powelines. There are very loud fireworks set off every night for hours at a time. Fireworks allowed in the park seemed like a bad idea since everyone uses propane. The train was close but did not create any problems. The fireworks were by far more of a nuisance. People drive very fast in the park. The staff was nice, they have a very nice laundry room and there is a small store on the property and they are located just minutes from south shore line train station.
Jun 26, 2018 · Tammy MortonThe park is great. Friendly, flexible staff. Trees and shade. Clean.Did not use restrooms. Downfall is the train tracks and traffic noise.Trains actually shake the ground all times of day. Hard to sleep.
Oct 20, 2024 · tzmannsI like this park. Friendly staff, quiet area as far as no one bothers anything. Not far from shopping and restaurants. Unlike most RV parks, here you get a yard that you take care of yourself. No bathhouse with showers but your RV should have that. There is laundry and a store at the front. Open year round, pet friendly and family friendly.
