Ashmoor Campground Introduce
For local individuals and families in the Scottsburg, Indiana area seeking "camping near me," particularly those with RVs, Ashmoor Campground, located at 822 S Gardner St, Scottsburg, IN 47170, USA, presents itself as a potential option. They can be contacted at (812) 752-3460 or +1 812-752-3460. However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be aware that recent online reviews offer contrasting experiences regarding the management and booking procedures at this campground.
One reviewer, a travel nurse seeking an RV site a month in advance, recounted a lengthy and frustrating phone call. This individual reported spending 45 minutes listening to the owner discuss personal matters unrelated to booking availability. The reviewer's primary goal was to ascertain if an RV could be accommodated for specific dates. However, they described the owner as hesitant to guarantee a site, stating a first-come-first-serve policy, lack of online payment options, and the presence of other interested parties for the last available site. Due to the perceived unprofessionalism and inability to secure a confirmed reservation, this reviewer chose to seek lodging elsewhere. Subsequently, they reported receiving a call from the owner inquiring about their "no-show," despite no confirmed booking or deposit. This paints a picture of potentially disorganized management and communication challenges.
In contrast, another reviewer, a single woman RVing, shared a positive experience at Ashmoor Campground. This individual described the owner as "so kind" and helpful, providing a place to rest and offering travel tips and assistance with setting up. They also noted having a "nice talk" with the owner and found the location to be "beautiful." This reviewer specifically mentioned using electric hookup but did not comment on the water facilities, expressing a hope to return in the future. This feedback suggests that some visitors have found the owner to be welcoming and the environment pleasant.
Considering these two very different accounts, it is challenging to provide a definitive assessment of the environment, services, and features of Ashmoor Campground based solely on these reviews. The positive review indicates that the location itself may possess a certain natural beauty that appeals to some visitors. The mention of using "electric only" suggests that at least some sites are equipped with electrical hookups, catering to RVs. However, the lack of detail regarding other potential services such as water and sewer hookups, restroom facilities, or recreational amenities makes it difficult to provide a comprehensive overview.
The conflicting reports regarding the owner's demeanor and business practices are significant factors that local users exploring the "camping near me" category should consider. The negative review raises concerns about booking procedures, communication, and professionalism, which could impact the overall camping experience. Conversely, the positive review highlights kindness and helpfulness. This disparity suggests that individual experiences may vary considerably.
Given the limited and conflicting information available, it is essential for local users considering Ashmoor Campground to contact them directly at the provided phone numbers to obtain current and accurate details. Inquiring about site availability for specific dates, the types of hookups offered (electric, water, sewer), payment methods, and reservation policies is strongly recommended. Asking about any specific rules or regulations for campers would also be prudent.
The reviews do not provide any information regarding specific features of the campground, such as the size and layout of sites, the presence of fire pits or picnic tables, or any recreational facilities. Therefore, local users should ask about these aspects when contacting Ashmoor Campground to determine if it meets their specific needs and expectations for a camping experience.
Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional information in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts, seasonal rates, or any special offers should inquire directly with the campground management. It would be wise to ask about the cost of sites with different hookup options and any additional fees that may apply.
In conclusion, Ashmoor Campground in Scottsburg, Indiana, presents a mixed picture for local users searching within the "camping near me" category. While one reviewer found the location beautiful and the owner kind, another reported significant issues with booking procedures and unprofessional communication. The available information on services and features is limited, primarily mentioning electric hookups. Prospective visitors, especially those traveling with RVs, are strongly advised to contact Ashmoor Campground directly at the provided phone numbers to get up-to-date information on availability, services, policies, and to form their own assessment based on direct communication. Due to the conflicting feedback, proceeding with caution and thorough inquiry is recommended before making a decision to stay at Ashmoor Campground.

Ashmoor Campground Reviews
I am a travel nurse and called 1 month before my contract was suppose to start looking for a site. I sat on the phone for 45 minutes listening to this elderly woman complain about her tenants, people who have dogs and her insurance premiums. When all I really wanted to know is if she would or would not be able to accommodate my RV for said days. When I pointedly asked if she thought she could her response was she doesn't guarantee sites, she doesn't do online payment, it's first come first serve and 2 others also wanted the last site she had available. I'm traveling with a family, I don't move them around on a whim thinking we "might have a place to stay". She was very rude and unprofessional on the phone and ultimately I decided because of how poorly she conducted herself and the inability to confirm lodgings, I would find lodging elsewhere. Now, a month later this woman has the nerve to call and yell at me for "not showing up or letting her know". Mind you I did not confirm my stay or pay a deposit. Further proof this woman is unprofessional and has no idea how to conduct a business. I would avoid staying here. She seems like a total nightmare.
Aug 18, 2023 · Courtney DeckI love this area. While some claim the owner is rude, I disagree. I’m a single woman Rving and she was so kind to give me a place to rest. We had a nice talk. She even gave me travel tips and step by step helped me get set up. Awesome lady! The place is beautiful. I used electric only so I can’t say much about the water, but I hope to visit again.
May 18, 2023 · TimelessRewind Travel SafePhone rang for a while before an older woman picked up. Was calling to see if they had cabins since I didn't see a website to check for myself. Once she answered the phone, with a "what?" she was rude, saying "No, we do not" in an annoyed tone of voice.Kinda glad she doesn't have cabins. Don't want my parents treated to that same attitude when they come for a visit. I should've looked the reviews first instead of hoping the 3 star rating others gave was just people being picky. They're not. She's rude.
Jul 13, 2023 · Kara HPerfect for a night of rest and relaxation! Can't beat the location for proximity to the interstate, yet tucked away in a green spot with the chirping of birds to wake up to. We scored one of their many flat pull-through sites and hooked up to the electric, etc. All for $23.54 including tax. We called ahead a few hours before and the manager (owner?) met us at the gate to guide us to our spot with her riding lawn mower. Very nice, we'll mark it down for the next time we travel south!
Apr 09, 2021 · Margaret LeBrunWe called last minute as reservations elsewhere were canceled on us. We were taken in, helped to our site. At first the gal was a little gruff, but after chatting with her a few minutes, she was very friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for overnight or a few nights. It's not the Ritz, but we don't need a $100 a night place to park!
