Based on recent customer reviews, Bandy Creek Group Campground appears to be a well-regarded destination, particularly for group outings. One reviewer who stayed in March noted that while only the D loop of campsites was open and quite full, it was still a "good place to stay." They pointed out a limitation regarding larger RV sites, observing that some sites were only long enough for the camper itself, requiring vehicles to be parked on the adjacent grass or dirt. Despite this, they appreciated the numerous nearby places to explore, expressing a desire to camp there again.
Another review highlighted a very positive experience with a large group of 60 people over Labor Day weekend. Despite rainy weather, the group greatly benefited from the "wonderful covered screened in pavilion" which featured a fireplace and two grills. This pavilion proved to be a "life saver" during the rain, providing a communal space for the large gathering. Additionally, the pavilion was equipped with two bear-proof metal food lockers, ensuring the safety of food supplies. The group also had access to its own bathroom house with hot showers, described as "amazing facilities." This reviewer enthusiastically recommended group campsite E1, indicating that it was well-received by the entire group.
The environment surrounding Bandy Creek Group Campground is undoubtedly influenced by its proximity to the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. This vast area is known for its stunning natural beauty, including rugged gorges, diverse forests, and abundant wildlife. Campers at Bandy Creek can likely expect to be immersed in a wooded setting, with opportunities for exploring the natural landscapes of the Big South Fork. The presence of trails mentioned by one reviewer suggests that hiking and other outdoor activities are readily accessible from the campground or nearby.
The services and features at Bandy Creek Group Campground are particularly geared towards accommodating groups. The standout feature, as highlighted by the Labor Day weekend group, is the large covered screened-in pavilion with a fireplace and grills. This provides a central gathering space for meals, socializing, and shelter from the elements, making it ideal for group events. The inclusion of bear-proof metal food lockers underscores a commitment to safety in an area where wildlife may be present. The availability of a private bathroom house with hot showers for group campsites is a significant amenity, offering comfort and convenience for larger parties.
The comment about limited larger RV sites in the D loop suggests that while RV camping is accommodated, groups with multiple or very large RVs might need to inquire specifically about site availability and suitability. The fact that the D loop was open in March indicates that at least some sections of the campground are accessible during the shoulder seasons. The mention of nearby places to drive and explore highlights the campground's strategic location for accessing the broader attractions of the Big South Fork region, which include scenic drives, overlooks, historical sites, and various outdoor recreational activities.
While specific promotional information is not provided in the reviews, the positive experiences shared by visitors serve as strong testimonials for the campground's suitability for group camping. Local users planning family reunions, scout trips, church gatherings, or other large group outings in the 'camping near me' category should seriously consider Bandy Creek Group Campground due to its specialized facilities and favorable location.
To obtain more detailed information, local users should contact Bandy Creek Group Campground directly. Inquiries should focus on the availability of group campsites (such as E1), the capacity of these sites, specific amenities offered at each site (including RV hookups, if needed), and the process for reserving group camping areas. It would also be beneficial to ask about any specific regulations or guidelines for group camping, as well as information about nearby attractions and activities within the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.
In conclusion, Bandy Creek Group Campground offers a valuable 'camping near me' option for local groups looking to enjoy the outdoors near Oneida, Tennessee. Its specialized facilities, including the covered pavilion, private restrooms with hot showers, and bear-proof food lockers, cater specifically to the needs of larger gatherings. While RV site availability for larger vehicles might be limited in some areas, the campground's clean environment, proximity to the Big South Fork's attractions, and positive reviews, particularly from a large group, make it a highly recommended destination for group camping adventures.

Bandy Creek Group Campground Reviews
D loop was the only campsites open in March and it was pretty full. It's a good place to stay but bigger RV sites are limited. Saw several sites only long enough for the camper and the vehicle was parked on the grass/dirt. There's a lot of places to drive to to explore so we would love to camp here again.

Sep 05, 2024 · Adeline LetiziaDid a two night camp. The restroom was clean and warm. The grounds were well maintained, and the Park Rangers patrol and offer information and assistance. We did a 4.5-mile hike towards the falls, but it was another 2.5 to it. The trail was marked and an easy hike. My eight year old grandson had no problem.
Feb 09, 2024 · RunnsunA very nice campground very large and sites are spread out. Sites aren’t as long as they state. Electric and water. A nice visitor center, camp store. Horse stables. Miles of hiking trails. Very nice playground and pool . Shower bathrooms. Definitely a nice place to stay.
