Camp Hickory Introduce
If you're a local user searching for "camping near me" in the Weston, West Virginia area, Camp Hickory, located at 89 Co Rd 1/20, Weston, WV 26452, USA, is one option to consider. However, it's important to be aware of some feedback shared by recent visitors to make an informed decision. Based on the available review, potential campers should take note of certain aspects regarding amenities, pricing, and facilities for children.
Environment: Limited Description from Provided Reviews
The provided review does not offer specific details about the natural environment or the ambiance of Camp Hickory. There is no mention of scenic views, proximity to water bodies, or the type of terrain. Therefore, local users seeking information about the physical setting of the campground will need to look to other sources or potentially visit the location to assess the environment firsthand. Without descriptive feedback on the surroundings from the given review, we cannot provide an objective overview of the natural beauty or atmosphere of Camp Hickory.
Services and Amenities: Lack of Wi-Fi Noted
The review explicitly mentions at least one aspect of the services at Camp Hickory: "there is no wifi at campground." For campers who rely on internet connectivity for work, communication, or leisure, this is a significant point to consider. Beyond the lack of Wi-Fi, the review does not provide information about other potential services or amenities such as hookups (electric, water, sewer), restroom facilities, shower houses, laundry options, or the availability of on-site staff. Therefore, local users seeking campgrounds with specific amenities will need to inquire directly with Camp Hickory to determine what is offered.
Features: Limited Activities, Especially for Children
One of the critical points raised in the review concerns the lack of activities, particularly for younger visitors: "there is nothing for children to do on campground." This suggests that families with children looking for a campground with playgrounds, organized activities, or other child-friendly features may find Camp Hickory lacking in this regard. The review does not mention any features such as hiking trails, recreational areas, fire pits, or picnic tables. Consequently, local users interested in campgrounds with specific recreational features will need to seek additional information about what Camp Hickory offers beyond basic camping sites.
Important Considerations Regarding Pricing and Management
The review also raises a significant issue regarding the billing practices experienced by one couple who stayed at Camp Hickory for an extended period: "The owner charged us the wrong price for over a year. We ended up paying over 1000 extra dollars and the owner is not willing to give us that money back. Owner 'mistakenly' let us pay this wrong price for months and just recently told my husband the real price." This feedback highlights a potential concern regarding the accuracy of billing and the owner's handling of discrepancies. Local users considering a stay at Camp Hickory, especially for longer durations, should be diligent in confirming pricing and payment details to avoid similar issues. The reviewer's experience suggests a lack of transparency or oversight in billing over a prolonged period, which is an important factor for potential future campers to be aware of.
Promotional Information: Proceed with Caution Based on Available Feedback
Given the nature of the provided review, it would not be appropriate to offer a standard promotional introduction for Camp Hickory. Instead, local users searching for "camping near me" are advised to consider the points raised by a recent camper. The absence of Wi-Fi, the lack of children's activities, and, most notably, the reported issue with overcharging and the owner's unwillingness to rectify it, are factors that should weigh into your decision. If these aspects are not major concerns for your camping needs, Camp Hickory might still be a viable option. However, it would be prudent to seek additional information or clarification directly from the owner regarding amenities and pricing policies before making a reservation. For local campers prioritizing Wi-Fi access, activities for children, and transparent billing practices, it may be worthwhile to explore other "camping near me" options in the Weston, WV, area.
In summary, based on the single review provided, Camp Hickory in Weston, WV, does not offer Wi-Fi and reportedly lacks activities for children. Furthermore, a concerning issue regarding overcharging and the owner's response has been raised by a long-term camper. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider these points when deciding whether Camp Hickory meets their needs. It is recommended to seek additional information about the campground's environment, services, and features from other sources or by contacting the owner directly.

Camp Hickory Reviews
First off, there is no wifi at campground. Secondly, my husband and I have stayed here in our camper for a couple of years due to working out of town, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. The owner charged us the wrong price for over a year. We ended up paying over 1000 extra dollars and the owner is not willing to give us that money back. Owner "mistakenly" let us pay this wrong price for months and just recently told my husband the real price. Thirdly, there is nothing for children to do on campground.
