Campground at James Island County Park Reviews
We're used to primitive camping, but when we want luxurious tent camping, this is our go-to place! We tent camp in an RV site (yes, that's allowed) to be close to the showers, bathrooms, and activity room. The spacious activity room makes an excellent hangout place during rainy weather, the hot showers have great water pressure, and the bathrooms are always clean and stocked. There's lots of yard games like giant chess and cornhole, and there's a nice pond for fishing. We always bring a dog or two to camp with us, and they absolutely love the giant dog park. The campground is close to both Charleston and Folly Beach, making it an awesome basecamp for a South Carolina vacation. The camp store has a good selection of necessities and niceties, and the staff everywhere displays wonderful Southern hospitality. You'll have an awesome time here!
Apr 23, 2025 · Amanda GonzálezWe stayed in the campground at site 60. Full hook up and right behind the camp store. Bath house and dumpster isn't a far walk. Nice campground. Very clean. Walking/biking trails everywhere, splash pad and play ground for the littles, and there is an outdoor place with things to do as well. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to come back again soon.
Apr 18, 2025 · Rebecca EppsWe stayed here for the first time the week of New Year's. We went during the festival of lights. Words can hardly express how much we loved this place. We had a great camping site. Staff so friendly. Campground and bath house so clean. Everything decorated and people friendly. Loved driving through the Christmas light displays. The train ride was fun too. (Just a little too fast to see everything). Fireworks were AMAZING! What a fun time. Would love to go again sometime.
Jan 19, 2025 · Lisa LouCamped out under the Festival of Lights and had a great time! The park is super clean and well-maintained: checked it without a hitch, established camp, rode the trails in bicycles, then cooked and enjoyed dinner while the lights flickered on. Campers decorated their sites too - a display within the display - so after a quick dog walk to admire their hard work we walked to the lights. We had a blast walking around the festival, then riding the shuttle and listening to Holiday Music, and got a great night sleep before heading home.
Dec 11, 2024 · Mike WakefieldThis is a really nice campground. I cannot imagine going there in the summertime with the huge crowds, but this place is built for so I recommend going in the off-season. We used it as a base of operations to explore Charleston in the local area.
