Campground Introduce
For those in the Chesterfield, Virginia area seeking a convenient and enjoyable "camping near me" experience, the Campground located at the End Loop offers a straightforward and family-oriented outdoor retreat. This campground provides spacious and well-maintained campsites with essential amenities, making it an attractive option for individuals and families looking to connect with nature without venturing too far from home. Its proximity to trails and a lake further enhances its appeal, offering a variety of recreational activities for a memorable stay.
Experience the Natural Ambiance: Spacious Campsites and Environmental Considerations
The Campground in Chesterfield boasts very nice, flat, and spacious campsites, providing ample room for tents, camping gear, and comfortable movement around your designated area. This generous spacing between sites contributes to a sense of privacy and allows families to spread out. The availability of varying shade conditions is another notable environmental aspect. Some campsites are better shaded in the mornings, offering a cooler start to the day, while others provide more shade in the afternoons, ideal for escaping the heat during peak sunshine hours. This natural variation allows campers to choose a site that best suits their preferences and needs throughout the day. However, it is crucial for visitors to be aware of the presence of poison ivy, particularly during the summer and fall months, as it is reportedly abundant in the area surrounding the campsites. Taking necessary precautions to identify and avoid this plant is essential for a safe and comfortable camping experience.
Essential Services and Convenient Amenities for Campers
The Campground offers several key services and amenities designed to enhance the camping experience. Firewood is available on an honor system for a reasonable fee of $7 per bucket, providing a convenient option for enjoying campfires without the need to bring your own supply. Each campsite is equipped with its own clean and well-maintained fire pit, perfect for cooking meals or simply enjoying the warmth and ambiance of a crackling fire. Furthermore, each site includes a plug-in electricity source, allowing campers to charge electronic devices such as cell phones and batteries, a practical feature for staying connected or powering essential camping equipment. Access to potable (drinkable) water is also provided at each campsite via a water faucet, eliminating the need to carry large quantities of water.
Features for Recreation and Relaxation: Trails and Lake Access
A significant advantage of the Campground in Chesterfield is its accessibility to various recreational features. The campground is conveniently located within walking distance of trailheads, offering opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding natural beauty. For those who enjoy water activities, a lake is also within walking distance, providing access for canoeing and swimming. This combination of woodland trails and lake access caters to a range of outdoor interests, whether you prefer an active hike, a peaceful paddle on the water, or a refreshing swim. The simple and family-oriented atmosphere of the campground further contributes to a relaxed and enjoyable experience, making it an ideal setting for quality time with loved ones.
Important Note Regarding Bathroom Facilities
While the campground offers essential amenities, it is important for potential visitors to be aware of a specific issue concerning the bathroom facilities. According to a recent camper review, the bathrooms located near a particular campsite area are permanently closed. This necessitates using the facilities located at the opposite end of the grounds. Therefore, when choosing your campsite, it is advisable to consider the location of the open bathroom facilities to ensure convenient access throughout your stay. This information is crucial for planning and ensuring a comfortable experience, especially for families or individuals who may require more frequent access to these facilities.
Summary of Positive Aspects: Spaciousness, Amenities, and Recreation
In summary, the Campground in Chesterfield, VA, offers several appealing features for local campers. The campsites are described as very nice, flat, and spacious, providing a comfortable and roomy environment. The availability of individual fire pits, plug-in electricity, and potable water at each site adds a significant level of convenience. The honor system for firewood offers an easy solution for campfires. Moreover, the campground's location provides walkable access to both hiking trails and a lake suitable for canoeing and swimming, catering to diverse outdoor interests. The overall atmosphere is reported to be simple and family-oriented, making it a welcoming place for a relaxed getaway.
Key Consideration: Bathroom Location and Poison Ivy Awareness
However, it is essential for prospective campers to be aware of two key considerations. Firstly, the presence of abundant poison ivy, especially during the summer and fall, requires vigilance and caution to avoid contact. Secondly, the permanent closure of some bathroom facilities means that all campers will need to utilize the facilities at one end of the grounds. Therefore, it is recommended to factor in the location of the open bathrooms when selecting a campsite to ensure convenient access. Despite these points, the fundamental offerings of spacious campsites, essential amenities, and recreational access make the Campground a viable option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Chesterfield area.
No Specific Promotional Information Available

It is advisable for interested individuals to check with local camping resources or potentially contact the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation department for any current promotions, seasonal rates, or special events that might be associated with the campground. Very nice flat and spacious campsites. Some are better shaded for mornings whereas others are better shaded for afternoons. The room between campsites is very generous but watch out in the summer and fall months as there's lots of poison ivy around here! There is plenty of honor system firewood for $7 per bucket.Campsites each have their own clean and well taken care of fire pits, Plug-In electricity to charge things like cell phones or batteries, and Water faucet with potable (drinkable) water.
Sep 19, 2024 · Peter Fisher-Duke (zepter)Great campsite, simple and family oriented. You can walk to trail heads, lake for canoeing and swimming, or just relax. Unfortunately the bathrooms near where i chose my site are permenately closed and had to go to opposite end of grounds for facilities.
Aug 16, 2022 · Aut MarieThe campsite was good the bathrooms were nice and the showers were better than I expected. The dogs were awesome and there was no problem in the campsite. The only thing is it's kinda hard to get to the campsite with Google maps because it isn't marked well. Overall a good experience.
Mar 31, 2024 · Nathan BrannockThis state park was huge and campground spreadout. Electric and water at sites, dump station near entrance. We came in after dark, no lights on roadways inside park...hard to see site numbers in dark. Stayed 2 nights, no problems for our 45' rv on a pull thru sight.Downfall to this is the 2 lane winding city road with housing areas with lots of traffic that doesn't tolerate slow rvs on dark winding road well. Be sure to use this road between work traffic if possible. Otherwise great park.
Oct 11, 2023 · Gail OwensWe had a great time camping. It was quiet and we'll organized. We really enjoyed the aquatic facility which had pools and a splash pad with slides (free with campsite rental). The hiking trails are also really nice.
