Casino Creek Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Stanley, Idaho area, with convenient access to the popular Redfish Lake and the scenic beauty of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area? Casino Creek Campground, located in Stanley, ID 83278, USA, offers a potentially appealing camping experience situated along a river and near key attractions. You can reach them at (208) 774-3000 or their mobile number, +1 208-774-3000, for inquiries, although reservations for campsites in this high-demand area are typically managed through recreation.gov.
The environment of Casino Creek Campground benefits from its prime location near both Redfish Lake and the town of Stanley. This positions it within a highly sought-after area known for its stunning mountain scenery, pristine lakes, and abundant recreational opportunities. One reviewer noted that the campground was "nicely situated across the river from the road," which is a significant advantage as it helps to mitigate potential road noise, contributing to a more peaceful camping experience despite the overall busyness of the river corridor in this region. The fact that even dispersed camping areas nearby are often full underscores the popularity of this area for outdoor activities.
Accessing Casino Creek Campground appears to be relatively straightforward, with one reviewer mentioning that "the road in was well maintained and easy to navigate with nice turn around at the end." This is welcome news for campers with various types of vehicles, including those towing trailers. A well-maintained road ensures a smoother start and end to your camping trip.
A significant feature highlighted by a reviewer is the presence of a "nice little sandy beach area by the trailhead on the river" near the campground, offering a safe spot for swimming. This access to the river is a major draw, particularly during the warmer months, providing opportunities for relaxation and recreation right at the campground's doorstep. However, the same reviewer also noted that there was "very little shade" and that it was "hot!" This is an important consideration for summer camping, and visitors should come prepared with adequate sun protection and shade structures if needed.
In terms of services, the availability of a "great water pump" with "tasty" water is a notable positive aspect mentioned by a reviewer. Access to a reliable source of potable water is essential for any camping trip, and positive feedback about the quality of the water is always reassuring.
However, one review raises a significant issue regarding the allocation of campsites, particularly concerning equestrian and non-equestrian use. A potential camper who traveled from Nampa expressed disappointment at not being allowed to use the equestrian spots, stating that according to a Park Ranger, "non equestrians are allowed to use the equestrian spots," while "equestrians are not allowed any where else." This policy, as described, raises questions of fairness and could be a point of contention for non-equestrian campers, especially if standard campsites are fully booked. It is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of and adhere to the specific rules and regulations of Casino Creek Campground regarding campsite usage.
Given its location within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Casino Creek Campground is likely managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Reservations for campsites are typically mandatory, especially during the peak summer season, and are handled through the online platform recreation.gov. Local users searching for "camping near me" should check this website for site availability, pricing, and to make reservations. The website will also provide the most accurate and up-to-date information on any specific rules, regulations, and alerts for the campground.
As a Forest Service campground, Casino Creek Campground typically does not offer commercial promotions or discounts. Camping fees are generally modest, and these funds are used for the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities. Information on current fees can be found on recreation.gov.
In summary, Casino Creek Campground near Stanley and Redfish Lake, Idaho, offers a compelling camping experience due to its scenic location along a river, proximity to popular attractions, and a well-maintained access road. The availability of a sandy beach area for swimming and a good water pump are additional benefits. However, potential campers should be aware of the limited shade and the specific rules regarding the use of equestrian campsites by non-equestrians. Reservations through recreation.gov are highly recommended due to the area's popularity.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Stanley and Redfish Lake area, Casino Creek Campground provides a strategically located basecamp for exploring the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. While the campsite allocation policy warrants attention, the overall environment and access to amenities like the river and potable water make it a desirable option. Be sure to check recreation.gov for availability and to familiarize yourself with the campground's regulations before planning your trip to this beautiful part of Idaho.

Casino Creek Campground Reviews
Located near Redfish Lake and Stanley it was nicely situated across the river from the road which helped quiet the road noise. The whole river corridor in this area is very busy and even the dispersed camping areas are full. The road in was well maintained and easy to navigate with nice turn around at the end. We found a nice little sandy beach area by the trailhead on the river to swim safely. Very little shade and it was hot! Great water pump and the water was tasty.
Jul 19, 2022 · Lorrie Kalmbach-EhlersWell I would have like to stay here since I came from Nampa. But unfortunately non equestrians are allowed to use the equestrian spots, according to the Park Ranger. Yet equestrians are not allowed any where else. Sound fair to you?
Aug 08, 2022 · ShonnaLeeIt's close enough to Redfish Lake to day use there, and still quiet enough to get some sleep at night. There's a great trail that begins at the end of the campground for horses, hiking, and biking (both mountain and motor). There are several hot springs that dump into the river within a couple minutes. The campsites themselves could use a little work. There wasn't water available when we went, but there's plenty of places nearby to get more water. Take toilet paper (the availability is spotty in the bathrooms). If you have problems sleeping I would recommend a sleeping pad or air mattress. Overall a great experience though.
Aug 28, 2019 · Nathan JohnsonWide spaces, river access outside your rv, beautiful setting, inexpensive...what's not to like? I imagine in season it's crowded. Come in the fall. Cooler temperatures but fewer people. Close to Stanley and sufficient services for in the country. There was a Bbear in the area warning. It's an adventure.
Oct 03, 2022 · Bill HoopesStayed is Spot 13. Not much shade. Well was not available during our stay. Bear activity was high and a trap was in place. Road nose from light traffic on 75 was minimal on a Saturday evening.
