Riverside Campground

Stanley, ID 83278, USA

4.0
I liked this campground. It is split into two across the road. It is close to the road so it can be loud when trucks and cars go by but the road is not very busy. The north side of the road has some campsites in it that are probably big enough to accommodate a 25 foot trailer or larger with no problem (I have an 18 foot trailer and it was a piece of cake to put into the campsite I picked). Campground has 2 outhouses and has water which has to be hand pumped (not pressurized). I would not hesitate to stay here again. Nice location on the Salmon River. - Ernest Kyed

Riverside Campground Introduce

For local users in the Stanley, Idaho, area and those searching within the "camping near me" category for a conveniently located campground, Riverside Campground, situated in Stanley, ID 83278, offers a camping experience alongside the scenic Salmon River. You can reach them at (208) 774-3000 or +1 208-774-3000 for inquiries and information.

Based on recent customer reviews, Riverside Campground is a liked and considered "really nice" camping area. A key feature of this campground is its layout, being "split into two across the road." This suggests that potential campers should be aware that the campsites are divided into sections on either side of a road. While the reviews indicate that the road is "not very busy," its proximity means that some noise from passing trucks and cars can be expected. However, the general consensus is that the noise level is manageable and does not significantly detract from the overall experience.

The north side of the road appears to offer campsites that are notably spacious. One reviewer with an 18-foot trailer found it "a piece of cake" to maneuver and set up in their chosen campsite on the north side and estimated that some sites there would "probably" be large enough to accommodate trailers of 25 feet or longer without any issues. This makes Riverside Campground a viable option for local users with larger recreational vehicles seeking "camping near me" with adequate space.

In terms of basic amenities, Riverside Campground provides "2 outhouses" for restroom facilities. Outhouses are non-flush toilets and are common in more rustic or minimally developed campgrounds. While they serve a necessary function, campers should be prepared for this type of facility. The campground also offers a water source, but it is described as water that "has to be hand pumped" and is "not pressurized." This means that campers will need to manually pump water for their needs and should plan accordingly for storage and usage. The availability of water, even if hand-pumped, is a significant convenience for cooking, cleaning, and drinking (though it's always wise to purify untreated water as a precaution).

Despite the basic nature of some amenities, one reviewer stated that they "would not hesitate to stay here again," highlighting the positive aspects of the campground, particularly its "nice location on the Salmon River." The proximity to the Salmon River is a major draw, offering opportunities for various water-related activities such as fishing, wading, or simply enjoying the scenic riverbanks. The "close to the river" aspect is reiterated in another review, emphasizing this prime location for nature enthusiasts and anglers.

The second review also mentions that many visitors had tents, indicating that Riverside Campground caters to both tent campers and those with camp trailers. The presence of "fire pits" is another noted feature, allowing campers to safely enjoy campfires for cooking, warmth, and ambiance (subject to any fire restrictions that may be in place). The reviewer also explicitly states, "Expect to pay," confirming that there are fees associated with camping at Riverside Campground. Local users should inquire about the current rates and payment methods when contacting the campground.

The repeated mention of being "close to the highway" alongside the river access provides a more complete picture of the campground's environment. While the proximity to the Salmon River offers natural beauty and recreational opportunities, the nearness to the highway is the likely reason for the potential noise from passing vehicles. However, the first reviewer's assessment that the road is "not very busy" suggests that the highway noise might not be overly intrusive for most campers.

Based on the provided information, Riverside Campground offers a relatively basic but well-located camping experience. Its key features include spacious campsites on the north side of the road (suitable for larger RVs), access to hand-pumped water, outhouse facilities, and fire pits. Its prime location along the Salmon River is a significant advantage for those who enjoy river-based activities and scenic views. The trade-off for this convenient location is its proximity to the highway, which may result in some traffic noise, although it is reported to be from a not-very-busy road.

There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews. However, the positive sentiment ("liked this campground," "really nice camp ground") and the highlights of its location on the Salmon River serve as inherent endorsements for local users seeking "camping near me" with these attributes.

For local users in the Stanley, Idaho, area looking for a campground accessible to the Salmon River that can accommodate both tents and RVs (including larger trailers on the north side), Riverside Campground is a viable option. Campers should be prepared for outhouse facilities and hand-pumped water. The proximity to the highway may result in some noise, but the road is reportedly not heavily trafficked. The presence of fire pits allows for campfires (when permitted), and fees are to be expected. To get the most current information on rates, availability, and any specific regulations, local users should contact Riverside Campground directly at (208) 774-3000 or +1 208-774-3000.

In conclusion, Riverside Campground offers a conveniently located camping experience near Stanley, Idaho, with direct access to the Salmon River. It provides spacious campsites suitable for various sizes of RVs and tent campers, along with basic amenities such as outhouses and hand-pumped water. Campers can enjoy the natural beauty of the river and the use of fire pits. While the campground's proximity to the highway may result in some traffic noise, it is generally considered a nice place to stay. Local users searching for "camping near me" with river access should consider Riverside Campground and contact them for further details.
