The availability of showers and flushable toilets is frequently mentioned as a significant advantage, providing a level of comfort that is often appreciated after a day of outdoor activities. The cleanliness and maintenance of the campground are also noteworthy. One reviewer specifically commended "Melissa" for helping to keep the site "so clean and comfortable." This suggests a dedicated effort to ensure a pleasant and hygienic environment for campers. As responsible visitors, it's always important to heed the advice to "clean up after yourself at a minimum! Or better yet leave the place better than how you found it!" This collective effort helps maintain the beauty and comfort of the campground for everyone to enjoy.
While the natural beauty and amenities are significant draws, it's important to be aware of a potential environmental factor mentioned by a visitor: noise from the nearby I-5 freeway. One reviewer noted that the campground can be "little noisy from I-5 traffic." Depending on your campsite location within the campground and your sensitivity to noise, this might be a consideration when choosing your spot. If you are particularly sensitive to traffic sounds, you might want to inquire about campsite locations that are further away from the freeway when making your booking or upon arrival.
Regarding specific campsite features, one reviewer mentioned that "Site 24 is fairly level if you are in a van." This specific feedback can be helpful for other van campers looking for a relatively even parking spot. It also suggests that the terrain within the campground may vary, and some sites might be more level than others. Jul 10, 2024 · Kristy Lisa K.We actually really liked this campground! If you were camping in a tent, I would not recommend it, as you will possibly hear road noise! However, we did not hear the highway or anything in our camper. We really liked that it was so close to the highway. Super easy to find and a great place to stay after a long day driving. The camping spots were level and nicely taken care of. We had the campground mostly to ourselves with the exception of a couple other trailers and camper vans.
Nov 28, 2021 · Nichole C.The roar of I5 goes all night, and sometimes there’s trains too. But a pretty good campground.
Mar 01, 2025 · Dorothy DayStayed in the upper loop, one of the furthest sites from the I-5, so the only disturbing road noise is the train (?) blaring. Bathroom and showers are all stalls in the same room and it’s extremely buggy. The insect species diversity is incredible if you’re into bugs, but even so, it’s no fun when they fly in your eyes at night and clog up the sink drain. Trailheads are a bit of a climb from campsites. Campground tap water tastes very bad. Campsites are not private due to the sparse trees.HOWEVER, the campsite is extremely convenient. If you arrive after hours, you can pay at a kiosk and they also sell firewood. The parking spots are spacious and quite level. There’s a cute little shop which sells shirts and hats and stickers and 3D printed dragons and whales if you’re into that. Castle Dome was amazing and staying at the campsite allowed me to start my hike in the early afternoon and relax after returning to the campsite.
