Cheat River Campground Introduce
Are you searching for 'camping near me' in the Point Marion, Pennsylvania area? Cheat River Campground, located at 1000 Sadler St, Point Marion, PA 15474, USA, is one option that appears in this category. However, it is crucial for local users to be aware of a significant negative review that raises serious concerns about the accessibility, condition of the campsites, lack of services, and the management's handling of refunds. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based solely on the provided customer feedback, highlighting the potential challenges reported by a recent visitor.
Based on the single available review, the environment surrounding Cheat River Campground presents notable challenges. The town of Point Marion is described as "small and tight," which might imply limited space and potentially congested areas. More critically, the road leading back to the campground is reported to be "narrow and one way," creating a significant issue for maneuvering larger vehicles, particularly campers. The reviewer explicitly states that there is "no where to turn your camper around," indicating a problematic layout for entry and exit. This suggests that accessing the campground with anything larger than a small vehicle could be extremely difficult and potentially require unconventional and possibly unsafe maneuvers, such as pulling up in the grass on a hill just to attempt a turnaround.
The services and features of Cheat River Campground are also called into question by the reviewer's experience. They report that there is "no level spot in this camp site," a fundamental requirement for safely and comfortably setting up a camper. The solution they were allegedly asked to implement – leveling their camper using "several cinder blocks" – underscores the severity of the uneven terrain. Furthermore, the reviewer notes that there is "also no service," presumably referring to cellular service, which can be an important consideration for safety and communication while camping. The lack of level campsites and the absence of cell service are significant drawbacks that could severely impact the camping experience for many visitors.
The most concerning aspect highlighted in the review pertains to the management's handling of issues and refunds. When the reviewer attempted to get their money back due to the aforementioned problems, they found the owners to be "very very hesitant." This reluctance to provide a refund for what appear to be significant deficiencies in the campsite conditions and accessibility raises serious concerns about the campground's customer service and its willingness to address legitimate complaints. The reviewer concludes with a strong negative recommendation: "Would not recommend." This singular but emphatic review serves as a significant warning for potential campers.
Given the limited information, there is no mention of any positive features or promotional offers for Cheat River Campground. The sole review focuses entirely on negative aspects related to accessibility, campsite conditions, lack of services, and poor customer service regarding refunds. Therefore, local users searching for 'camping near me' in the Point Marion area should take this feedback very seriously and be aware of the potential challenges reported by a recent visitor. It is possible that other areas of the campground or other times might yield different experiences, but this review highlights significant issues that prospective campers should consider.
For local users specifically looking for campgrounds suitable for larger vehicles like campers, the reported narrow and one-way road with no turnaround at Cheat River Campground poses a major obstacle. The need to level a camper using cinder blocks due to the lack of level spots indicates that the campsites themselves may not be adequately prepared or maintained for comfortable use. The absence of cell service could also be a significant concern for safety and communication, especially in an unfamiliar area. Finally, the reported hesitancy of the owners to provide a refund when these issues were encountered suggests a potential risk of financial dissatisfaction if similar problems arise during a stay.
In conclusion, while Cheat River Campground is located in Point Marion, PA, and falls under the category of 'camping near me' for local users in that area, the single available review paints a concerning picture. The reported issues with narrow and difficult access roads, unlevel campsites requiring the use of cinder blocks for leveling, the lack of cell service, and the hesitant attitude of the owners towards refunds are all serious factors that potential visitors should carefully consider. Without any additional information to counter these significant negative points, local users might want to exercise caution and perhaps explore alternative camping options in the vicinity that have more positive or at least more balanced feedback regarding accessibility, site conditions, services, and customer service.

Cheat River Campground Reviews
Do not camp here! The town is small and tight. The road back to the camp ground is narrow and one way. There is no where to turn your camper around. We had to pull up in the grass on a hill then they asked us to level the camper out by putting our camper on several cinder blocks. There is no level spot in this camp site. There is also no service. When we tried to get our money back the owners were very very hesitant. Would not recommend.
