Colona Scott Family Park Introduce
Seeking a convenient and accessible camping experience right here in your local area? Look no further than Colona Scott Family Park, situated at 5775 Poppy Garden Rd, Colona, IL 61241, USA. This campground offers a variety of options for outdoor enthusiasts looking to connect with nature without venturing too far from home. Whether you're an experienced RV traveler or prefer the traditional tent camping experience, Colona Scott Family Park aims to provide a welcoming environment for your next getaway.
Colona Scott Family Park is listed under the category of "camping near me," making it an ideal choice for local residents seeking a quick escape or a weekend adventure close to home. This category encompasses campgrounds and related services within a reasonable driving distance, offering convenience and the opportunity to explore local outdoor spaces. Colona Scott Family Park positions itself as a provider within this category, catering to individuals and families in the surrounding communities.
Based on available information, the environment of Colona Scott Family Park appears to offer a mixed experience. One review highlights the presence of a "non-tree area" specifically designated for overnight RVers. This suggests that while some areas of the campground may offer shade and a more natural setting, others might be more open and less sheltered. For tent campers or those seeking a more immersive natural experience, it may be beneficial to inquire about site availability in potentially more wooded areas when making a reservation. The mention of a "Poppy Garden Rd" address hints at the possibility of a pleasant, perhaps even floral, surrounding landscape during certain times of the year, though further information would be needed to confirm this.
In terms of services and facilities, the reviews provide some contrasting perspectives. One customer enthusiastically praises the campground and its owner, describing them as "one of the nicest people I've ever met" and giving a "five-star thumbs up all the way around." This positive feedback suggests a welcoming and potentially well-managed atmosphere, with a focus on customer satisfaction. The provided contact numbers, (309) 714-5514 and +1 309-714-5514, indicate that direct communication with the campground for inquiries and reservations is readily available.
However, another review presents a more critical view, particularly concerning the facilities. This customer mentions that the facilities are "very run down," which could be a significant factor for campers who rely on well-maintained amenities for a comfortable stay. Furthermore, the review points out a specific issue with the utility hookups for RVers. The sewer, water, and electric hookups are reportedly "not lined up," potentially requiring an "extra long (double length) sewer hose" to connect to all three simultaneously. This is a crucial piece of information for RV owners planning to utilize these services and suggests a potential inconvenience that should be considered.
The pricing information provided indicates a cost of $50 per night for overnight RVers. This price point should be weighed against the reported condition of the facilities and the convenience of the location. For local users exploring "camping near me" options, this cost may be competitive with other campgrounds in the vicinity, but it's advisable to compare amenities and overall experience before making a decision.
Considering the features of Colona Scott Family Park, the designation of a specific area for overnight RVers suggests that the campground caters to this type of traveler. The availability of phone contact implies that reservations can be made directly, allowing for personalized inquiries about site availability and specific needs. The positive feedback regarding the owner suggests a potentially friendly and helpful management style, which can significantly enhance the camping experience.
However, the misalignment of utility hookups for RVs is a notable feature that potential visitors should be aware of. RVers planning to stay overnight and utilize all available hookups should ensure they have an adequately long sewer hose to accommodate this configuration. The reported "run down" condition of the facilities is also a feature that may impact the overall comfort and satisfaction of campers, regardless of their chosen accommodation type.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available online for Colona Scott Family Park. Local users interested in potential discounts, special offers, or seasonal events are encouraged to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. It's also worth checking local community pages or social media groups related to outdoor activities and camping in the Colona area, as these platforms may sometimes feature local promotions or recommendations.
In summary, Colona Scott Family Park offers a conveniently located camping option for local users searching within the "camping near me" category. While one review praises the owner and overall experience, another highlights concerns about the condition of the facilities and the configuration of RV hookups. Potential visitors, especially RV owners, should be aware of these points and consider their individual needs and priorities when making a decision. Contacting the campground directly for the most up-to-date information on site availability, facility conditions, and any potential promotions is highly recommended to ensure a satisfactory camping experience.

Colona Scott Family Park Reviews
Very nice campground and the owner is one of the nicest people I've ever met I give this five star thumbs up all the way around
Jul 18, 2024 · Georgia GarbesOvernight RVers get placed in the non-tree area. Facilities are very run down. The worst is that the sewer/water/electric hook ups are not lined up, so if you want to be hooked up to all three at the same time then you must have an extra long (double length) sewer hose. It is fine for overnight, but would not stay again. Cost $50 per night.
Aug 02, 2021 · Liz MatejovichStumbled upon this campground last minute and we were so glad we did! Found a non electric tent side towards the back right alongside the creek. Hot showers in a clean facility. Keep your head in the clouds!
May 20, 2022 · Samantha KnorrVery nice city owned park. Lots of potential. Met the mayor! Good guy. Just stayed one night, and it met our needs. Many seasonal sites. Good experience. Thank you Colona!
May 24, 2023 · Joan GThis place is PATHETIC paid $25 for me and my family to swim mind you we had a 2 month old puppy with us, they didn’t say anything at the gate at all to us about him. We get to the pool my kids are swimming and some lady had a big issue with my putting the puppy in for a second. LITERALLY ONE SECOND. and she called the front desk and the lady who we paid our way in said we had to go with the dog very very rude lady, I was being rude back but you seriously are kicking out my family over a puppy. And then the lady said we ruined her family’s day like how. I said I wanted my refund, and they didn’t give it back. I’ll be back to get my refund. Yall cannot just refuse to give me my refund when we were there do legit less then 30 minutes. What a joke.
