Based on customer reviews, the environment at Elk River Camp and RV is described as "blissful" with the "Elk River whispers by," indicating a picturesque and peaceful setting along the riverbanks. The campground is noted as being "clean" and "quiet," suggesting a well-maintained and relaxing atmosphere. One reviewer specifically mentioned being escorted to a campsite along the river in the "second loop," highlighting the proximity to the water for some sites. The presence of a "large pavilion adorned with LED string lights" at some sites adds a touch of charm and functionality, potentially providing a covered area for dining or relaxation, especially in the evening. The overall impression is of a natural and tranquil environment ideal for those seeking a respite by the river. Local users who appreciate the soothing sounds of a river and a serene atmosphere for their camping will likely find Elk River Camp and RV appealing.
The services and features at Elk River Camp and RV appear to cater primarily to RV campers, with "full hookup" sites available, including electric and water. It's important to note that one reviewer was advised that a "pressure regulator is required" for water hookups, so potential guests should come prepared. The campsites are described as "gravel and level" with a picnic table and what appeared to be two fire pits at one site, suggesting a comfortable and functional setup. The campground is also noted as "dog friendly," which is a significant plus for campers traveling with pets. However, one reviewer mentioned not noticing a "bath house or restroom facility," which could be a crucial consideration for some campers, especially those in tents or RVs without onboard facilities. The observation that the campground "seems to be set up for long term seasonal sites" might indicate that availability for short-term stays could be limited or that the community has a more long-term feel. Another practical point raised was that some sites have hookups located to the "BACK OF THE SITE rather than closer to the middle," which could pose an issue for those with shorter water or shore power lines. Local users should inquire specifically about the availability of restrooms and showers, the layout of the hookups at their assigned site, and whether the campground primarily accommodates seasonal or short-term visitors.
Key features of Elk River Camp and RV include its riverfront location, offering the sights and sounds of the Elk River. The "generous rv spaces" suggest comfortable and spacious sites for recreational vehicles. The availability of "full hookup" is a significant feature for RVers seeking all essential utilities. The dog-friendly policy makes it an attractive option for pet owners. The presence of pavilions with LED string lights at some sites adds a unique and welcoming touch. Finally, the consistently positive feedback regarding the host, Mark, who is described as "friendly, helpful, informative, prompt, professional," stands out as a major feature that enhances the overall guest experience. His personal attention, from initial contact to escorting guests to their sites and providing information, suggests a high level of customer care. For local users who value a scenic riverfront location, full RV hookups, a welcoming pet policy, and exceptional host service, Elk River Camp and RV offers a compelling set of features.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Elk River Camp and RV based on the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for longer stays, seasonal offers, or any other promotions should contact Mark directly at the provided phone numbers. Given his friendly and helpful demeanor, he would be the best source of information regarding pricing and any special deals that might be available. Inquiring about rates for both short-term and potentially longer stays, as well as any amenities fees, will help local campers plan their budget effectively.
In conclusion, for local users in the "camping near me" category seeking a serene and potentially long-term RV camping experience along the Elk River in Gassaway, WV, Elk River Camp and RV offers a promising option. The beautiful riverfront setting, full hookup availability, dog-friendly policy, and the exceptional service provided by the host, Mark, are significant draws. However, potential guests should be aware of the possible lack of a traditional bathhouse/restroom facility and the potential for hookups to be located at the back of some sites. It is highly recommended that local users contact Mark directly at (303) 807-5209 or +1 303-807-5209 to inquire about site availability, restroom facilities, hookup configurations, and any current pricing or promotional offers to ensure it meets their specific camping needs and preferences for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway by the Elk River.

Elk River Camp and RV Reviews
It was just after dark and we need a place to stay the night on our return trip home to SC. I found Elk River Camp through a Google search and from the beginning, Mark was friendly, helpful and informative. We were escorted to the second loop to a campsite along the river all the way providing information about the campground and how he came about being the owner (over the phone). The site was gravel and level with picnic table and what appeared to be two fire pits. The campground was clean, quiet, our site provided a large pavilion adorned with LED string lights. Amenities were electric and water (Mark advised pressure regulator is required!) We paid $40. After dinner we settled in and slept like babies. The only suggestion is there were trash cans distributed throughout this loop where a dumpster would have been easier to locate.I didn't notice a bath house or restroom facility and the campground seems to be set up for long term seasonal sites. I noticed that some of the sites have hookups located to the BACK OF THE SITE rather than closer to the middle of the sites...this may pose a problem for those who have short water or shore power lines.I would recommend and return for another stay.

Aug 19, 2024 · Anne C LindsayMark is amazing! The friendliest and most hospitable stranger that I have ever met. We pulled in to the camp around 11pm at night and called the number on the sign and Mark answered, as friendly as ever, like we were old pals and took the time out of his Saturday night to help guide us on the phone the campsite. The nicest stranger I have ever encountered. What a beautiful little spot, quiet, right in the river, dog friendly, with water and electric hookups, all for a super reasonable price! Will definitely be coming back! Thank you so so much Mark!
Aug 20, 2024 · Lorena AbadBeautiful RV campgrounds, well maintained and lovely river. The scenery is amazing, the gravel lots level and the water/power hookups are new and work great. The owner Mark was very helpful and we felt welcomed. Even our dogs were allowed to roam and explore. Very close to I-79 in WV. Highly recommended!
Oct 30, 2021 · Michael SchmittCalled about launching Kayaks on his property and was told just to make sure I parked out of the way and was welcome anytime. Very friendly and nice to speak with. Havn't camped there, but they have a very nice facility from what I seen. Plan on going back tomorrow and plan on checking about camping a weekend there. I grew up on that part of the Elk River and glad to know someone is using it in a good way and preserving it. Thank You for your kindness.
