Finland Campground Introduce
For local adventurers and those seeking a rustic "camping near me" experience along Minnesota's scenic North Shore, Finland Campground, located at 233-1, Co Rd 6, Finland, MN 55603, USA, offers a primitive camping option. Situated near the town of Finland and conveniently close to the popular Tettegouche State Park, this campground provides a more basic camping experience while still offering essential amenities and surprisingly strong mobile connectivity, as highlighted by visitor reviews.
The environment of Finland Campground is described as "pretty good" by one reviewer, suggesting a natural setting suitable for camping. As a "primitive site," it implies a focus on a more natural and less developed camping experience, likely emphasizing the surrounding wilderness of northeastern Minnesota. This region is characterized by its rugged terrain, boreal forests, and proximity to Lake Superior. While the immediate environment of the campground isn't extensively detailed, its location near Finland and a short drive from Tettegouche State Park suggests access to the stunning landscapes and natural beauty of the North Shore. This includes rocky shorelines, inland lakes, rivers, and hiking trails. For those searching "camping near me" who prefer a more traditional and less amenity-driven camping experience, the primitive nature of Finland Campground, coupled with its access to the broader North Shore environment, could be appealing.
In terms of services, Finland Campground offers basic amenities consistent with a primitive camping designation. Reviews indicate the presence of a porta-john for restroom facilities, confirming the absence of a building bathroom. Water is provided via a well pump, with one reviewer noting that there is just one well pump for the campground. This suggests that campers should be prepared for potentially shared access to water. Despite its primitive nature, one surprising service mentioned is the "surprisingly full 5G mobile strength," indicating that campers can expect strong cellular connectivity, at least with certain providers. This is a notable feature, as primitive campgrounds often have limited or no cell service. The helpfulness of the staff is also highlighted in a review, where they are commended for keeping an eye on a camper's belongings when unforeseen circumstances required them to leave the site temporarily. This suggests a responsive and supportive management. For those seeking "camping near me" who are comfortable with basic facilities but appreciate cell service and helpful staff, Finland Campground offers a balance of rustic experience and essential support.
The features of Finland Campground are centered around its primitive camping experience and its strategic location. The limited number of sites, estimated at 25-30 total, suggests a smaller and potentially more intimate camping environment compared to larger, more developed campgrounds. The proximity to Tettegouche State Park, being only 8 minutes from the visitor center, is a significant feature. Tettegouche is renowned for its spectacular hiking trails, waterfalls (including High Falls on the Baptism River), and scenic overlooks of Lake Superior. This close proximity allows campers at Finland Campground easy access to the extensive recreational opportunities offered by the state park. The strong 5G mobile strength is another notable feature, allowing campers to stay connected if needed. The helpful and attentive staff, as mentioned in a review, adds a human element that can greatly enhance the camping experience, especially when unexpected issues arise. For those searching "camping near me" who prioritize access to nature (particularly Tettegouche State Park), a more basic camping experience, and the ability to stay connected, Finland Campground presents a compelling option.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive aspects highlighted by visitors can serve as organic promotional points. Potential promotional angles for Finland Campground could emphasize its primitive camping experience for those seeking a more direct connection with nature, its exceptional proximity to Tettegouche State Park and its attractions, the surprisingly strong 5G mobile service for those who need to stay connected, and the helpful and reliable staff. For local users searching "camping near me" who are interested in exploring Tettegouche without staying within the often-busy state park campgrounds, Finland Campground offers a convenient alternative. Highlighting the smaller size of the campground could also appeal to those seeking a quieter and less crowded camping experience. To learn about any specific promotions, availability, or to make reservations, contacting the campground directly via the provided phone numbers would be the best approach.
In conclusion, Finland Campground near Finland, MN, offers a "pretty good" primitive camping experience in a strategic location just minutes from Tettegouche State Park. While providing basic amenities such as a porta-john and well water, it also surprisingly boasts strong 5G mobile service. The helpfulness of the staff is a significant positive aspect mentioned by reviewers. For local users searching "camping near me" who are comfortable with a more rustic camping style and prioritize access to the natural beauty and recreational activities of the North Shore, particularly Tettegouche State Park, Finland Campground provides a convenient and potentially well-connected option. Contacting the campground directly is recommended for the most up-to-date information and to plan your primitive camping adventure.

Finland Campground Reviews
We paid for our site, put up all of our stuff, and ended up having to go back home for something. In the mean time our vehicle stopped working, the staff was Super helpful and kept an eye on our tents and stuff until we could find a way back up there to get it. We appreciate you guys so much!
Aug 26, 2024 · Angela RetzlaffPretty good campground. It's a primitive site with about 25-30 sites total. Has porta John, no building bathroom, well pump (just one). Sites are closer to each other than I thought, but surprisingly full 5G mobile strength!Site is only 8 minutes from Tettegouche visitor center.
Sep 02, 2023 · pgWe camped here on a very busy weekend, but the sites were spaced out enough to give a bit of privacy.
Oct 07, 2024 · jonathan morseGreat campground. The spots are well set up and are fairly private. A few of them are big enough for a large camper, but they don't offer electricity or water hookups. The outhouses don't have running water, but are usually clean.
Aug 15, 2020 · TylerLove this campground! Sites along the Baptism river. Other ones nestled among dense forest. Most have adequate trees/vegetation to give a secluded feeling. Vault toilets. Located far enough up the shore to wake up and hit Oberg, Lutsen, Grand Marais. All my favorites. However I HATE PEOPLE WHO COME TO THE NORTH WOODS AND RUN GENERATORS ALL NIGHT. If you can’t go without power for a NIGHT, stay at a hotel. These should be banned. I've heard wolf packs howling at night in the Finland State Forest. But if some jack@ss his a generator roaring, you're not going to experience it.
