For those browsing the "camping near me" category and yearning for breathtaking views, tranquility, and a touch of Vermont charm, Grateful Acres promises an unforgettable escape.
The environment of Grateful Acres Vermont is consistently described as "magical" and "epic" by those who have had the pleasure of staying there. Situated on a hilltop in the midst of the Green Mountains, the campground boasts panoramic vistas that are sure to captivate nature lovers. Imagine waking up to a 360° view of beautiful green mountains, as one reviewer enthusiastically described. The location offers not just scenic beauty but also a sense of privacy, allowing campers to feel truly immersed in their natural surroundings. The presence of "groomed fields for the pups" indicates that Grateful Acres is a pet-friendly destination where your four-legged companions can also enjoy the wide-open spaces. The campground's setting away from the hustle and bustle ensures a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, inviting guests to "leave your troubles on the pavement" and embrace the tranquility of the Vermont landscape.
Grateful Acres Vermont offers a variety of lodging options to suit different preferences. While tent camping is certainly an option, with at least two distinct tent sites available (one closer to the road and another more centrally located with exceptional views), there are also more unique accommodations. Reviews mention "a few cabins on site and a yurt," as well as "2 cabins and a settlers tent that are fully outfitted for a great night." These options cater to those who prefer a bit more comfort and shelter than traditional tent camping. The "fully outfitted" cabins and settlers tent reportedly include amenities such as a queen bed, chairs, screens, a BBQ grill, privacy, a picnic table, an umbrella, and hammocks, providing a comfortable and convenient way to enjoy the outdoors without the need for extensive camping gear.
Even the tent sites at Grateful Acres seem to be thoughtfully appointed. Reviewers mention the inclusion of a picnic table and a fireplace at the tent sites, enhancing the camping experience. The strategic placement of the central tent site offers the aforementioned stunning 360° views, including the opportunity to watch the sunrise over Mount Snow and Haystack Mountain and the sunset over Glastenbury Mountain – a truly spectacular feature for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.
While embracing a more natural setting, Grateful Acres Vermont also provides essential services and features for a comfortable stay. One reviewer was particularly impressed with the outhouse, noting that the "outhouse that has 2 sides" was "cleaner than any public toilet I've ever experienced." This attention to cleanliness, even in a rustic facility, speaks volumes about the care taken at the campground. For recreational activities within the campground itself, guests can enjoy "2 sets of cornhole boards and bags" for some friendly competition. Additionally, the mention of "some kayaks next to a shed" suggests the potential for water-based activities, although it's unclear from the reviews whether these are available for rent or for guest use.
The location of Grateful Acres Vermont, while offering a sense of peaceful seclusion, is also within reasonable proximity to local attractions. It is mentioned as being "about 7 miles off of VT Route 9 and about 2 miles from Somerset Reservoir." Somerset Reservoir offers opportunities for water activities and further exploration of the natural surroundings. While the access is via a dirt road, one reviewer reassuringly notes that "the dirt road is better than most paved roads," and they had no issues towing a 20' travel trailer, indicating that the campground is generally accessible. The proximity to VT Route 9 suggests that it's not entirely isolated and likely within a reasonable driving distance of other amenities or attractions in the region.
The hospitality at Grateful Acres Vermont appears to be a standout feature. One reviewer recounted a story of arriving unexpectedly late and being warmly welcomed by the owners, Adam and Stephanie, who answered on the first ring and provided accommodation for the night. This personal touch and willingness to go above and beyond for their guests is a strong indication of their commitment to creating a positive experience. Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, stating that Adam and Stephanie's "attention to detail above the rest." This focus on hospitality and guest care likely contributes significantly to the "magical" atmosphere that visitors describe.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information explicitly mentioned in the reviews. However, the overwhelmingly positive feedback and the description of the unique accommodations and stunning environment serve as an inherent promotion for Grateful Acres Vermont. For local users seeking a memorable and peaceful camping experience with exceptional views and hospitality, the reviews strongly suggest that this is "that place" they've been searching for. To inquire about availability, pricing, and any potential seasonal offers, contacting them directly at (603) 686-1796 or +1 603-686-1796 would be the best course of action.
In summary, Grateful Acres Vermont, nestled in the Green Mountains near Wilmington, VT, offers a truly special camping and lodging experience for those seeking a getaway near you. With its hilltop location providing epic 360° views, a range of accommodation options from private tent sites to cozy cabins and a unique yurt, and exceptional hospitality from owners Adam and Stephanie, it's a place where you can leave your troubles behind and immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of Vermont. Grateful Acres Vermont Reviews
This place is magical. Set on a hilltop in the middle of the green mountains, this camping spot is epic. You have views, privacy, groomed fields for the pups, picnic table, and a fireplace. There were a few cabins on site and a yurt, but our tent did us just fine. Our sleeping plans for the night backfired so we had to find a safe place to hunker down when we stumbled upon this place by chance. The owners answered on the first ring and put us up for the night. Grateful indeed!
Apr 17, 2023 · Jamie BlanchetteThis is that place. You know the place that you've been searching for all those years of looking. Adam and Stephanie's attention to detail above the rest. There is 2 cabins and a settlers tent that are fully outfitted for a great night. I saw a queen bed, chairs, screens, bbq, privacy, picnic table, umbrella, hammocks, and plenty of space to get the outdoors in your blood. We stayed at one of the 2 tent sites. One is kinda close to the road and the other one is in the middle of everything. We stayed at the one in the middle and it was perfect. 360° view of beautiful green mountains. Plenty of space for our 4 legged friends to run around. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over Mt Snow and Heystack and the sunset over Glastenbury. There is an outhouse that has 2 sides. This was cleaner than any public toilet I've ever experienced. There is 2 sets of cornhole boards and bags. I saw some kayaks next to a shed (not sure if you can rent them or not).It is about 7 miles off of VT Route 9 and about 2 miles from Somerset Reservoir. There isn't pavement but the dirt road is better than most paved roads. We tow a travel trailer that is about 20' and had no issues.I'm telling you this is where it's at. Peace and quiet. Views. Hospitality. Leave your troubles on the pavement, follow the river up to the unforgettable Grateful Acres. You won't be disappointed.
Sep 04, 2023 · Dan RennoldsonThis campsite is absolutely wonderful as is the family who owns it. I booked through Hipcamp but they also have spots on Tentrr. The views are amazing and there is lots of space. We camped to watch a meteor shower and the skies were perfect. Our trip was potentially going to be rained out and Stephanie was so kind and responsive to all of my messages and extremely accommodating. She even moved us to a spot with a luxury tent since it was available. It was excellent. We stayed for two nights and even with rain on the last day we had an amazing time
Apr 24, 2023 · Nina GumkowskiThis place is awesome! I was using iOverlander to find boondocking nearby but fell in love with the property. Close to the reservoir and hiking. A clean restroom and firewood! Adam answered all my calls and I stayed for two nights. I’ll be back for sure!
Jul 12, 2023 · Colin DavisWe absolutely loved Grateful Acres! Everything was perfect from the amazing little cabin to the incredibly scenic property to the impressive drop toilet that had all of the essentials (books, candles, tp, wipes and more!) We can't wait to come back.
