Group Camp 12 Introduce
For local users in Salamanca, NY, and surrounding areas searching for "camping near me" specifically tailored for large groups, Group Camp 12, located at Camp 12 Rd, Salamanca, NY 14779, USA, offers a facility with some notable advantages alongside certain drawbacks highlighted by recent visitors. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the environment, services, and features of Group Camp 12 based on the available reviews, allowing local users to make an informed decision for their group camping needs.
When local users seek "camping near me" for group outings, key considerations often include the capacity to accommodate a large number of people, the availability of communal spaces like kitchens, and the quality of lodging and sanitary facilities. Group Camp 12 appears to address the need for group accommodation with its cabins and kitchen building. However, the reviews present a mixed picture, with positive feedback on certain aspects contrasted by significant concerns regarding the bathrooms and insect issues.
The environment of Group Camp 12 offers both appealing and potentially problematic aspects. One reviewer "absolutely enjoyed this place," highlighting the unique feature of a fireplace inside the kitchen building, which is particularly beneficial during rainy weather. The kitchen itself is described as "big," suggesting ample space for group meal preparation and gathering. The cabins are noted as "roomy, clean, and new," indicating a comfortable and well-maintained lodging environment. However, the second review paints a less favorable picture of the overall environment, mentioning significant issues with insects, with "most everyone getting 50-100+ bug bites" throughout their week-long stay. This suggests a potential problem with insect control in the area, which could significantly impact the outdoor experience for campers. The proximity to the natural surroundings of Salamanca, NY, might contribute to the insect issue, but the severity reported is a concern.
In terms of services and features, Group Camp 12 offers a large kitchen facility equipped with an indoor fireplace, which is a distinct and valuable feature, especially for group gatherings and cooking in various weather conditions. The availability of "roomy, clean, and new" cabins provides comfortable and ample sleeping accommodations for larger groups. However, a major service concern raised in the reviews pertains to the bathroom facilities. One reviewer stated that the "pit toilets are not even an option" due to being "absolutely disgusting." Additionally, there is reportedly only "one flush toilet," which is deemed insufficient for an entire group. The potential for inconsiderate group members to exacerbate the condition of this single flush toilet further compounds the issue. Another service concern mentioned is that "the fridges leaked" in the kitchen, which could lead to inconvenience and potential food spoilage. These significant drawbacks regarding the sanitary facilities and kitchen appliances need to be carefully considered by potential users.
The features of Group Camp 12 include the spacious and clean cabins, which can comfortably house larger groups. The presence of a large kitchen building with a fireplace offers a central gathering and meal preparation space, enhancing the communal aspect of group camping. These features are definite advantages for those seeking group accommodations with indoor facilities. However, the severely criticized bathroom situation, with unusable pit toilets and only one flush toilet, is a major negative feature that could significantly detract from the overall experience, especially for longer stays or larger groups. The reported issue with leaking refrigerators in the kitchen is another functional concern. The severe insect bites experienced by a group also highlight a potential environmental feature that could be problematic for visitors, suggesting a need for effective insect repellent and protective measures.
Promotional information is not explicitly present, and the reviews offer a balanced perspective with both positive and negative aspects highlighted. The positive aspects—spacious and clean cabins, a large kitchen with a fireplace—could be seen as promotional points for groups seeking these specific features. However, the significant concerns raised about the bathroom facilities and insect problems act as strong cautionary notes. Therefore, while Group Camp 12 offers certain appealing features for group camping, potential users should be fully aware of the reported downsides before making a booking. The unique indoor fireplace in the kitchen could be a promotional highlight for colder seasons or rainy days, offering a cozy gathering spot.
The contrasting experiences in the reviews underscore the importance of considering all feedback. While one group enjoyed the cabins and kitchen fireplace, the other experienced significant discomfort due to inadequate and unsanitary bathroom facilities and severe insect bites. This suggests a potential inconsistency in the upkeep of certain facilities, particularly the bathrooms, and a possible ongoing issue with insect control at the campground. Local users should weigh the importance of spacious cabins and a communal kitchen against the potential for unpleasant sanitary conditions and insect problems.
To obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the current state of Group Camp 12, local users might consider seeking more recent reviews or contacting the managing authority for the campground to inquire about the bathroom situation, insect control measures, and the condition of the kitchen appliances. Understanding if any updates or improvements have been made since these reviews were posted could be crucial in making an informed decision. Additionally, clarifying the capacity of the group camp, the specific amenities available in the cabins and kitchen, and any rules or regulations for group use would be beneficial.
In conclusion, Group Camp 12 in Salamanca, NY, offers the advantages of roomy and clean cabins and a large kitchen with a fireplace, making it potentially suitable for group camping. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding the extremely poor condition of the pit toilets, the inadequacy of a single flush toilet for a large group, leaking refrigerators, and severe insect bites. Local users searching for "camping near me" for group outings should carefully consider these drawbacks alongside the positive features before deciding if Group Camp 12 meets their needs. It is highly recommended to seek updated information regarding the bathroom facilities and insect situation prior to booking a stay.

Group Camp 12 Reviews
Absolutely enjoyed this place. Having fireplace inside of the building where the kitchen is, is a big plus (especially helpfull when raining outside). Kitchen is big. Cabins are roomy, clean and new. In my opinion the only downside is bathrooms, I think they need to update it soon.
Oct 09, 2022 · Leo TupchikGroup camp 12 has some issues. The pit toilets are not even an option. Absolutely disgusting. There is only once flush toilet, which is not enough for an entire group of people, and if you get a couple people in your group who don't care, then your week there will be awful. The fridges leaked. We were also bitten all week long, with most everyone getting 50-100+ bug bites.
Aug 19, 2019 · Jason EaganAs someone who’s camped at allegheny my whole life at least annually, this was a new experience and by far the worst. Bathroom situation is horrifying. One working toilet. Benches falling apart in the mess hall. They need pest control for wasps at least. I recommend any other group camp over this one.
