Redhouse Loop Campground Introduce
For local users and travelers seeking a 'camping near me' experience in the Salamanca, New York area, Redhouse Loop Campground, located at 145-139 English Stoddard Rd, Salamanca, NY 14779, USA, presents a camping option within the New York State Parks system. Based on customer reviews, the campground offers access to natural attractions and nearby conveniences, but recent changes in management and procedures appear to have impacted the overall guest experience. Potential visitors should be aware of both the positive aspects and the reported challenges when considering a stay at Redhouse Loop Campground.
The environment surrounding Redhouse Loop Campground is described as being part of one of the "better" New York State Parks. The area boasts a couple of lakes within the park that offer opportunities for boating and fishing, appealing to water enthusiasts. Furthermore, the campground is located in close proximity to the Kinzua Reservoir, which is highlighted as a great fishing spot, expanding the recreational options for anglers. For those interested in local culture and commerce, the area reportedly has "a bunch of cannabis shops close by," and the nearby Seneca Nation of Indians (the "Rez") offers the potential for "cheap gas and cigarettes." The park itself is also noted to have "plenty of places to hike," making it an attractive destination for nature lovers and those looking to explore the trails. The initial positive review paints a picture of a campground nestled in a region with diverse recreational and local amenity options.
The services and features of Redhouse Loop Campground, while not extensively detailed, can be inferred from the customer reviews. As a New York State Park, it likely offers designated campsites, restroom facilities, and possibly shower facilities, although the quality and efficiency of these are not specified. The mention of a $7 entry fee suggests that there is a day-use fee for accessing the park, which may or may not be separate from camping fees. The availability of boating and fishing on the park's lakes and the proximity to Kinzua Reservoir are significant features for outdoor recreation. The hiking trails within the park cater to those who enjoy exploring on foot. However, a more recent review raises concerns about the check-in process at the campground. It describes long wait times, with a significant backup of campers and RVs blocking the entrance for already registered guests. The review also mentions a requirement for ID to check in, which is stated to be unique among New York State Parks. Additionally, the reviewer notes an "overabundance of unnecessary rules" that were not in place previously, suggesting a potential shift in the park's management and operational procedures.
Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not contain any specific details about discounts, seasonal offers, or special packages for Redhouse Loop Campground. The mention of a $7 entry fee for day use is the only cost-related information provided. Local users interested in camping fees, reservation procedures, or any potential discounts for New York State residents or seniors would need to consult the official New York State Parks website or contact the park directly. Given the recent negative review concerning check-in hassles and new rules, it would be prudent for potential visitors to inquire about the current operational procedures and any advisories before making a reservation.
The customer reviews present a contrasting view of Redhouse Loop Campground. The earlier review highlights the positive aspects, such as its location within a good New York State Park with boating and fishing opportunities, proximity to Kinzua Reservoir, nearby cannabis shops and the Seneca Nation's amenities, and ample hiking trails. This reviewer suggests a relaxed and enjoyable camping experience. However, a more recent review expresses significant dissatisfaction, citing a decline in the park's management and procedures. The long wait times for check-in, the requirement for ID (uncommon for NYS parks), and the implementation of what are perceived as "unnecessary rules" are major points of concern. The reviewer recounts a frustrating experience where their husband was initially unable to check in due to the reservation being in his wife's name, despite previous stays without issue. This suggests potential inconsistencies or newly implemented strict policies that are causing inconvenience for campers.
For local users seeking 'camping near me' in the Salamanca area, Redhouse Loop Campground offers the potential for a scenic getaway with access to boating, fishing, and hiking. The proximity to Kinzua Reservoir and the local amenities mentioned in one review might also be attractive. However, it is crucial to consider the recent negative feedback regarding the check-in process and new rules. The reported long wait times and the strict ID requirement could lead to a frustrating start to a camping trip. Potential visitors should weigh the described natural attractions against the potential operational hassles based on the recent customer experience.
Prospective campers are strongly advised to seek updated information about the current check-in procedures, park rules, and any advisories before planning a trip to Redhouse Loop Campground. Checking the official New York State Parks website for any recent announcements or policy changes would be beneficial. Reading more recent reviews from other campers might also provide a more current perspective on the overall experience. If possible, contacting the park directly to inquire about the check-in process and any new regulations could help avoid unexpected issues upon arrival. Understanding the campsite amenities, reservation policies, and any fees associated with camping would also be essential for a smooth trip.
In conclusion, Redhouse Loop Campground offers a location within a well-regarded New York State Park, providing access to lakes for boating and fishing, proximity to the excellent fishing at Kinzua Reservoir, and hiking trails. While one review highlights these positive aspects and nearby local amenities, a more recent review raises significant concerns about the campground's management, specifically regarding a lengthy and inconvenient check-in process and the implementation of new, seemingly unnecessary rules. Local users considering this 'camping near me' option should be aware of these contrasting experiences and are strongly encouraged to seek current information about the campground's operational procedures before making a reservation to ensure a satisfactory camping trip.

Redhouse Loop Campground Reviews
As far as state parks in New York go this is one of the better ones in my opinion. There’s a couple lakes to boat on or fish and kinzua reservoir is really close. They have great fishing there. There are a bunch of cannabis shops close by as well if you wanna get high and camp like a normal camping type person. Cheap gas and cigarettes on the Rez too! So sit back smoke a bowl chase it with a smoke and pop the top on a coors light and get camping! Cost ya $7 to get in and there’s plenty of places to hike in the park if you just staying for the day or being cool and camping.
Jul 13, 2024 · SamThis park has been going downhill the last few. I'm thinking someone new is in charge. When checking in at Red House Campground on a Friday, the ad bldg had 3 computer station with one person checking. My husband was told he had to check in at the campground. There was one person working & about a dozen campers/RVs were lined up on the road waiting to go through the gate blocking already registered campers from entering the campground. After over an hour of waiting, my husband was told he could not check in because the site was in his wife's name. Are you kidding me? This was this past year. The previous year we had the same ridiculous wait & the same blocking of the entrance, but were able to check in as it was in his name. I would have thought they would figure this does not work well. This is the ONLY NYS park that requires ID to check in. Also, park now has an overabundance of unnecessary rules that were never in place before. They really need to rethink think their procedures as camping here has become a hassle.
