Hester's Bottoms Family Campground Introduce
Are you searching for an exceptional camping destination nestled in the heart of South Carolina? Look no further than Hester's Bottoms Family Campground, a hidden gem located at 2926 Fort Charlotte Rd, Mt Carmel, SC 29840, USA. Conveniently listed under the "camping near me" category, Hester's Bottoms offers a delightful escape for local adventurers seeking a tranquil and well-equipped outdoor experience. You can easily reach them at (864) 391-2267 or their mobile number, +1 864-391-2267, to plan your next memorable getaway.
Hester's Bottoms Family Campground boasts a picturesque environment that has captivated many visitors. Situated near a beautiful lake, many campsites offer breathtaking views right from your tent or RV door. Imagine waking up to the serene sight of the water and enjoying the tranquility of nature. While the water levels may occasionally be lower, as noted by a recent visitor who found "interesting finds while exploring the shoreline," the overall ambiance remains captivating and offers unique opportunities for exploration and appreciation of the natural landscape.
The campground prides itself on maintaining clean and well-kept facilities, a detail consistently highlighted in customer reviews. While specific information about the bathhouse is limited to a mention of its cleanliness, this positive feedback suggests a commitment to providing a comfortable and hygienic environment for all guests. This attention to cleanliness extends throughout the campground, contributing to a pleasant and relaxing stay.
Hester's Bottoms offers a variety of features designed to enhance your camping experience. For RV enthusiasts, the campground provides water and electric hookups at most sites. However, it's worth noting, as one reviewer pointed out, that some sites, like site 23, might have a longer overall length but a slightly shorter actual parking pad. This might require some maneuvering for larger RVs to ensure proper leveling and access to utilities. The availability of a $25 dump service is a significant convenience for RVers, especially since sewer hookups are not available at all sites. This service is considered "definitely worth it" by those who have used it.
Tent campers will also find appealing aspects at Hester's Bottoms. The natural surroundings, including wooded areas between some campsites, offer a sense of privacy and immersion in nature. The separation from the main road on certain lakefront sites further contributes to a peaceful and secluded atmosphere, allowing you to truly unwind and connect with the outdoors.
The presence of a camp store on-site adds another layer of convenience to your stay. Stocked with the basics needed for camping, the store is staffed by friendly and helpful people, ready to assist with any necessities or inquiries. This eliminates the stress of forgetting essential items and ensures you have access to supplies without having to leave the campground.
Beyond the individual campsites and essential amenities, Hester's Bottoms fosters a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere. The inclusion of an activities area outside the store, featuring large-sized games like Jenga, checkers, and connect four, provides engaging entertainment for all ages. This thoughtful addition encourages interaction and creates a fun, communal environment within the campground.
Adding a touch of magic, the campground has been known to go the extra mile for its guests. One reviewer recounted a delightful Easter weekend surprise where plastic eggs filled with toys and stickers were scattered around their site. This exemplifies the kind of thoughtful gestures that can create lasting memories, especially for families with young children. Such initiatives demonstrate a genuine care for the guest experience and a desire to make each stay special.
While the campground offers many positives, it's important to be aware of certain logistical aspects. The primary trash disposal location is at the entrance of the campground. For those without a golf cart or readily available vehicle, this might present a minor inconvenience, particularly for campers situated further into the grounds. The suggestion of an additional trash disposal location, perhaps near the store, is a valid point that could further enhance the convenience for guests.
In summary, Hester's Bottoms Family Campground offers a compelling option for those searching for "camping near me." Its stunning lake views, clean environment, and friendly service create a welcoming atmosphere for both RV and tent campers. The availability of essential amenities like water and electric hookups, a dump service, and a camp store ensures a comfortable stay. The added touches, such as the activities area and the occasional surprise treats, elevate the experience beyond basic camping. While minor inconveniences like the single trash disposal location exist, the overwhelmingly positive feedback from visitors underscores the appeal and quality of Hester's Bottoms Family Campground. If you're looking for a well-maintained campground with beautiful scenery and a family-friendly vibe in the Mt Carmel, SC area, Hester's Bottoms is definitely worth considering for your next outdoor adventure.

Hester's Bottoms Family Campground Reviews
Great view! And great stay!Probably one of our best views camping from the front door of our RV so far. See photos. We stayed in site 23. It's a long site, but the actual pad not so much. Our motorhome is 28 ft. We turned it sideways so we could access the water and electric connections and to be level and not have to park with our back wheels off the ground. The campsite was a little steep on a hill. See photo. Once we were parked , it was GREAT.The campground is very clean and well kept. My understanding is that it's an old COE park. We did not use the bath house but it looked clean and well kept.No sewer hookup on our site. The $25 dump service they provide is definitely worth it. The only place to dump trash is at the entrance of the campground. That was a bit inconvenient if you don't have a golf cart or driving vehicle. Another trash dump would have been nice. Maybe by the store. We stayed Easter weekend and woke to plastic eggs filled with toys and stickers scattered around our site. What a wonderful treat. Especially if you have littles.Recommend and would stay again! Please press the 🤍 if you find this review helpful.
Apr 17, 2025 · K SStayed the weekend on beautiful lake front site. I enjoy that my site was off the main road and separated with woods between neighbors for privacy sake. Camp store is staffed with friendly helpful people and the basics needed for camping. We enjoyed the activities area outside the store like large sized Jenga, checkers, and connect four. Water level is down at the lake which made for interesting finds while exploring the shoreline.
Sep 08, 2024 · William Cain (Old Medic Doc)So much fun. Accommodates, shower house and camp store were amazing. The views of the lake were great.
Jan 12, 2025 · Brandy ReynoldsHester's was great, very quiet, the sites are massive and very nicely separated. Very quiet and pitch dark at night. Very peacefully campground. The only reason for 4stars is that while we were there, the bathhouses didn't get the attention they needed. Two of the men's toilets were out of commission most of the weekend. Aside from that, it was great. We will definitely be going back.
