For those living in the vicinity or looking for a nearby escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Hideaway Campground promises a refreshing change of pace.
The environment at Hideaway Campground is frequently described as a "gem in the woods," emphasizing its natural beauty and peaceful ambiance. Surrounded by extensive and well-kept grounds, the campground offers a sense of immersion in nature. Reviewers highlight the presence of beautiful tent sites, many of which are wooded and shaded, providing a comfortable and picturesque setting for campers. The overall atmosphere is one of quiet serenity, making it an ideal destination for those looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. The absence of the noise and crowds often associated with larger campgrounds contributes significantly to its peaceful charm.
As a family-owned and operated business spanning several generations, Hideaway Campground prides itself on its friendly and welcoming service. Owners Tami and Bob, along with their family, are consistently praised for their super friendly and nice demeanor. This personal touch creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests, making them feel like part of the family. The dedication to maintaining the property is evident in the cleanliness and upkeep of the grounds, further enhancing the overall camping experience.
In terms of features, Hideaway Campground offers a charming pond suitable for fishing, providing a relaxing activity for guests of all ages. Additionally, there are a few short trails around the property, perfect for leisurely strolls and exploring the natural surroundings. These features cater to those who appreciate simple outdoor activities and the beauty of nature without the need for extensive amenities or organized events.
It is important to note what Hideaway Campground does not offer, as this defines its unique appeal within the 'camping near me' platform. According to customer reviews, this is not the place for those seeking a swimming pool or planned activities. The focus here is clearly on providing a quiet and peaceful environment for relaxation and enjoying nature at one's own pace. This deliberate choice caters to a specific type of camper who values tranquility over bustling entertainment.
One of the standout features mentioned by reviewers is the affordability of Hideaway Campground. One camper specifically noted paying only $35 for their site, describing it as an exceptional price for such a beautiful campground. This affordability makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers and local residents looking for an inexpensive weekend getaway. The value for money, combined with the peaceful environment and friendly service, positions Hideaway Campground as a compelling choice within the 'camping near me' category.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks that potential visitors should be aware of. Reviews indicate that internet access is not available at the campground, and phone reception is generally very poor. This lack of connectivity can be a significant consideration for those who need to stay connected for work or personal reasons. However, for those looking to truly unplug and disconnect from technology, this could be seen as a benefit, contributing to the overall sense of escape and tranquility.
Considering the positive aspects such as the peaceful environment, friendly owners, fishing pond, short trails, and affordable pricing, Hideaway Campground presents a compelling option for local campers seeking a quiet retreat. While the lack of internet and poor phone reception might be a drawback for some, for others, it reinforces the opportunity to disconnect and fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings. The repeated emphasis on the campground being "wonderful, quiet, peaceful," and a "gem in the woods" underscores its core appeal.
In conclusion, if you are a local user searching within the 'camping near me' category and prioritizing a peaceful, family-owned campground with natural beauty, a fishing pond, and short walking trails, Hideaway Campground in Normalville, PA, is an excellent choice. The super friendly owners, well-kept grounds, and remarkably affordable rates further enhance its appeal. While the absence of internet and limited phone reception might require a conscious decision to unplug, the reward is a truly tranquil and rejuvenating camping experience in a beautiful wooded setting. Consider Hideaway Campground for your next mini escape to a quiet place and discover the charm that this local gem has to offer.

Hideaway Campground Reviews
This campground is a gem in the woods! It’s small and it’s really peaceful. Highly recommend this campground if you’re looking for a mini escape to a quiet place. We live about a mile from here and have never been till this weekend. We are close to home but it feels like we are far away. It’s wonderful!Super friendly owners! Tami and Bob, and their family are super welcoming and very nice people. It’s a family owned property and business for several generations now. There is a pond for fishing and a few short trails around.f you’re looking for a pool and planned activities this is NOT the place for you. If you are looking for a laid back quiet spot this is it!
Jul 20, 2024 · AlishiaWonderful, quiet, peaceful family-owned CG. We only stayed one night, but we really enjoyed it, and we would love to return. The family who owns the CG is extremely nice. The grounds are extensive and beautiful, well-kept up and everything is very clean. A small pond, beautiful tent sites, wooded and shaded. OH – the price! Our site was $35 !! Where have you ever seen a price like that for a beautiful CG?! The drawback: no internet, no swimming, very poor phone reception. If there were internet and good phone reception, I’d give this CG 5 stars. For now, it’s 4 stars, but unplug and you’ll enjoy it!
Jul 26, 2023 · M VWe have been camping at Hideaway for, probably, a decade. If you are looking for a safe, clean, quiet, family-feeling campground close to the hundreds of breathtaking sites and outdoor recreational activities of the Laurel Highlands, look no further. With either full RV hookup sites or field or woods tent camping sites available, there is truly something for everyone, and the affordable pricing, clean, hot showers and serene setting will have you coming back again and again. Our home away from home.
Jun 30, 2020 · Alexa BudzynskiMy husband, son, daughter in law, and young grandchildren and I camped there this weekend. The campground itself is well kemp, restrooms are clean, showers are the best we have ever used at any campground! The owner is very friendly and available. Delivered firewood and ice to our campsite at a fair price. I recommend highly
Sep 02, 2024 · Beverly LeasherWhat a lovely lovely place this is! It's not huge but it's very well kept and has a pond for fishing and I was told there is a little waterfall but i didn't get the opportunityto see that... Everyone there was so nice, they waved at everyone and were all very respectful! I had the chance to chat with one of the owners briefly and she was just so genuinely kind! A rare beautiful kind person! The bathrooms were very clean and had showers if needed, everything was affordable and if you needed anything at all they would go out of their way to accommodate you... 10/10 Do recommend!Just watch when you are turning in because people like fly down that road... lol
