Kittatinny Canoes - River Beach Campground Reviews
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kittatinny River beach, and I can't recommend it enough! The views of the Delaware River are absolutely stunning, making it the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway with friends. The campsite itself is well-maintained and offers a variety of fun amenities that kept us entertained throughout our stay. Whether it was hiking, fishing, or just lounging by the river, there was never a dull moment. What truly stood out was the incredible staff. They were friendly, accommodating, and always ready to help with any questions or requests we had. Their hospitality really made our experience special. Overall, Kittatinny is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy nature while having access to great facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. We can’t wait to return!
Sep 12, 2024 · SkridgeBeatsDisappointing Experience at “Kittatinny Canoes - River Beach Campground”We recently had the unfortunate experience of camping at “Kittatinny Canoes - River Beach Campground”, and I can’t say enough about how poorly the service affected our stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed overwhelmed and unwelcoming. One particular employee, whom I can only describe as “the girl with attitude,” was especially unhelpful. Instead of offering assistance with our check-in, she rolled her eyes when we asked simple questions and provided short, dismissive answers. It felt like we were bothering her rather than being welcomed as guests. The campsite itself had potential, but the lack of support really detracted from the experience. Facilities were not well maintained, and when we tried to report an issue, we received little to no assistance.Overall, the beautiful nature surrounding the campsite was overshadowed by the poor service. I hope the management addresses these issues, as it could be a great place to stay if the staff were more friendly and accommodating.I would not recommend “Kittatinny Canoes - River Beach Campground” until there’s significant improvement in customer service.
Sep 29, 2024 · Manoj ChavanBoy, do I have some choice words for this place. I won't say them on here but I do have one that is appropriate for the easily offended: "Horrible".I came here on a trip with some friends in the Boy Scouts (five boys and five adults), all the way from Long Island, New York. We were having a blast on the trip up and were excited to be camping out since we could get away from the younger Scouts. But the welcoming committee was not welcoming. We arrived in the afternoon and we waited for a total of two hours to get checked in. My Dad said that the counter staff were rude and unkind to him and his two assistant scoutmasters. We got checked in and were given a campsite next to the highway. All night, trucks and cars could be heard and it was loud. We got used to it but the campsite we were in was bad. We didn't have any problems with anyone blasting loud music. But there was one night where it was a problem, up to about three in the morning. We went on a tubing trip that was said to have rapids. The staff who were running the tubing did not give a safety lecture or any checkpoints that we could get off on in case something did go wrong. So basically, if you got into an accident, no one will be there to help you and no safety protocols. The "rapids" only lasted for five minutes. Up side was that we got to jump off the boat and swim. But that was it. Tubing was boring and the receiving staff weren't kind and acted all "I don't want to be here. I want my check so I can go home".It got worse. We were to go onto a kayaking trip. We were given a 10 AM sharp time start so we arrived at 9:30 in case we needed to prepare. No one was there to greet us. At 10:30, someone arrived and the girl had an attitude and kept telling my Dad to stop yelling at her when he was only asking her simple questions. Once again, no safety briefing. Two other staff members, college kids, came and had more of an attitude. Only in it for the checks. It's bad that you can sense it so easily. The girl went "Alright, go in and kayak". Then she left without saying goodbye. But this was only the beginning.About twenty minutes into the trip, one of the Scoutmasters hit a rock and his kayak capsized. The kayak wedged him in between some rocks and he was panicking and holding onto the kayak with all his strength. Remember when they didn't have a safety briefing the previous day? Same thing here. My Dad and the other Scoutmasters had to walk a mile to get help. The same girl came back and drove my Dad and the others back and took out a long rope. She gave it to my Dad and told him "Swim out, attach the kayak and I'll pull you in." Bare in mind, the rapids were huge so my Dad would be risking another life to save our friend's. My Dad, a quick thinker, got some help from our assistant scoutmasters. The other staff came back and just stared at all of this going down and did not help. We managed to succeed in getting the kayak back and we went on our way. The girl and the staff had left and we never noticed. Had something happened, it would have been on them. At day's end, we waited an hour for someone to come get us. Apparently, the guy who picked us up had an attitude (not a surprise, anymore) and said that we were supposed to get off at a checkpoint earlier. No one had told us and he called my Dad an idiot to his face.Trip was cut short and we did activities outside the campgrounds because the campground activities were horrible. Bathrooms were disgusting and we had to shower at a nearby gym.The final day before we were to go home, we were to go ziplining. They lost our reservation and we were devastated because we were all looking forward to it. A friend of mine was hoping to overcome his fear of heights. A year later, he passed away and he never got to overcome his fear.Overall, staff and camp are horrible. I would not recommend this campground to anyone.
Apr 15, 2025 · Mario AntonioI could say I’m a regular at the campsites but I notice the customer service is going to the the trash , we got the wrong information about the time the store will close and when we got there the staff was just leaving and they told us they couldn’t help us ! That’s bizarre I mean we staying there and the store is not completely closed .Also the bathroom cleaning is terrible , it starts kind of clean in the morning but throughout the day and night is disgusting and I understand it has to do with the people that stay there but come on you have a great stuff that could do a better job especially before going home and leaving everything nice and clean , Monday to Friday everything is cool and people are having fun with a descent volume on their speakers (radios) but when it comes to Saturday and Sunday night some of the guest think is a night club and with the lack of staff during those days there is no one to check on that ! They need better staff better cleaning and someone to stay a little late on the weekends! Is an amazing place that’s needs better management
Sep 12, 2024 · SEZSI recently had a very disappointing camping trip at this campground. The bathrooms were dirty, and the site location was uncomfortably close to the highway, making it noisy and unpleasant. However, the worst part was the service we received. The front desk receptionist, Nei (or Nay), was extremely rude. She yelled at our group for minor issues, like keeping our dog on a leash, and her responses to even the simplest questions were snappy and disrespectful, even towards children. She yelled (yes yelled) at someone for taking a picture close to the entrance of her office. In my multiple trips to campsites or any interaction with a service professional within the US or internationally - this individual was a complete outlier. I can cite 10-15 instances of this behavior with our group in our 2 day visit at this site. The initial shock of dealing with her eventually turned to amusement.I really hope management addresses this behavior asap, as it certainly detracted from our experience. I would advise potential campers to look elsewhere if you're seeking a welcoming atmosphere.
