Landa RV and Campground Introduce
Are you a local resident in Texas searching for "camping near me" in the vibrant city of New Braunfels? Look no further than Landa RV and Campground, located at 565 N Market Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130, USA. You can reach them at (830) 625-1211 or +1 830-625-1211. Based on recent customer reviews, Landa RV and Campground offers a unique blend of natural riverside access and convenient proximity to downtown New Braunfels, making it an appealing option for both short getaways and longer stays. However, potential visitors should be aware of some environmental factors and the nature of the community within the campground.
For those in the "camping near me" category seeking a location with excellent access to the Comal River, Landa RV and Campground stands out. Its campsites are situated right on the water, providing an unparalleled opportunity for immediate river enjoyment. As one reviewer noted, it's "just a push and away you go" for launching onto the Comal River. This location is actually at the beginning of the popular Comal River tubing and kayaking route, making it an ideal starting point for a leisurely float that can take around 3.5 hours. The river access is a significant feature, complete with a great pavilion and steps leading down to the water, enhancing the overall riverside experience for campers.
In terms of services, Landa RV and Campground appears to offer essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Full hook-up sites are available at a "quite reasonable" price, catering to RV travelers. The presence of a locked gate with a pass for registered guests ensures a level of security on the property. Clean shower facilities with plenty of hot water are provided, which is a significant plus for campers. Additionally, there is an adequate laundry room, allowing guests to take care of their laundry needs during their stay. The office staff is reported to be very friendly and helpful, even offering excellent local lunch recommendations, indicating a positive and welcoming customer service experience.
The location of Landa RV and Campground is another significant feature, particularly for those who appreciate urban accessibility alongside their camping experience. Situated about half a mile from downtown New Braunfels, it's an easy walk to reach local restaurants, shops, and attractions. This prime location allows campers to enjoy the natural beauty of the Comal River while still having convenient access to the amenities and vibrant atmosphere of the city. The ability to walk to downtown for lunch is a notable advantage for those who like to explore the local scene without having to drive.
However, the environment at Landa RV and Campground does come with certain factors to consider. One recurring point in the reviews is the presence of a nearby train line. While the train reportedly does not blow its horn, the sound of it rumbling by is definitely audible and could be a concern for light sleepers. On the other hand, being in a natural habitat, guests can expect to hear the sounds of nature, such as owls and birds, particularly around 4 am. Most reviewers seem to accept this as part of the outdoor experience, but it's worth noting for those sensitive to early morning sounds.
Another aspect of the environment is the apparent presence of many full-time residents within the campground. While one reviewer explicitly stated that this is "not a party campsite area" and that the presence of residents is "okay," another found it a little "off putting" to see several campsites quite cluttered with personal belongings, used for storage. This suggests a more lived-in community feel rather than a purely transient vacation atmosphere. While safety is reported to be good, the aesthetic of cluttered campsites might not appeal to all visitors seeking a pristine camping environment.
Regarding promotional information, none is explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. However, the positive aspects highlighted, such as the riverside location, proximity to downtown, reasonable pricing for full hook-ups, clean showers, and friendly staff, serve as implicit endorsements for the campground. The fact that one reviewer, despite the train noise, would "try again in the summertime" indicates a generally positive overall experience, especially given the unique river access.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in New Braunfels, Landa RV and Campground offers a compelling option due to its direct access to the Comal River and its walkable distance to downtown. The essential amenities are provided, and the staff is reported to be welcoming. However, potential visitors should be prepared for potential noise from the nearby train and the possibility of a less manicured environment due to the presence of long-term residents. It's a campground that provides everything you need but is characterized as not being a "luxury RV resort," suggesting a more practical and community-oriented camping experience.
To make an informed decision about staying at Landa RV and Campground, local users may want to consider the following:
- If you are sensitive to noise, pack earplugs to mitigate potential disturbances from the train.
- If you prefer a more resort-like atmosphere, this campground might feel less polished due to the long-term residents and the resulting clutter at some sites.
- If direct river access for tubing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the water is a priority, Landa RV and Campground is an excellent choice.
- If you value the convenience of being able to walk to downtown New Braunfels for dining and entertainment, this location is highly advantageous.
- Contact the campground directly at (830) 625-1211 or +1 830-625-1211 for any specific inquiries about site availability, pricing, and any current policies or guidelines.
By considering these factors and potentially contacting the campground for more details, local users can determine if Landa RV and Campground aligns with their preferences for a "camping near me" experience in New Braunfels, Texas. The unique combination of riverside location and urban accessibility makes it a noteworthy option for those seeking a blend of nature and convenience.

Landa RV and Campground Reviews
Captains log (Sunday April 27th, 2025) came for a day. We got in Saturday to leave SundayI give a 4 stars. Okay here we go.. Yes there is a train and it can be loud but no horn. It's only due to the stuff it's pulling. Also you will hear the nature owls and birds bout 4 am but that is okay cuz you are in their habitat. Yeah there may be people that actually live here and that's okay cuz this is not a party campsite area.. the campsites are right on the water so that is awesome cuz it's just a push and away you go on the comal. So this area is actually the beginning of the comal river ride. It took us about 3.5 hours to complete. Would try again in the summertime just to see the difference cuz we were the only ones here.
Apr 27, 2025 · Ralph DelgadoThe location can't be beat. I walked to downtown New Braunfels for lunch. It was about half a mile, a very easy stroll. My site is on the river and this campground has river access. There is a great pavilion and steps down to the river. The office staff was very friendly and made an excellent lunch recommendation. The price for full hook up is quite reasonable. There is a locked gate and you get a pass to access the property when you register. The showers were clean and there's plenty of hot water. The laundry room was adequate, nothing fancy but I was able to catch up on laundry. It was pretty quiet except for the train. Now for some turn offs. There appear to be many full time residents here and several campsites are quite cluttered. I felt very safe here but it's a little off putting when you first pull in and see your neighbors using their campsite for storage of all manner of things.Although the train doesn't blow the whistle you definitely hear the them rumbling by. It didn't bother me but if you're a light sleeper that could be a problem. This campground has everything you need but it's definitely not a luxury RV resort.
Feb 15, 2025 · Michelle KennardIt's pretty down by the water for tent camping, but make sure you get a spot far away from the train bridge. Four loud trains between 10PM and 8AM. Also the showers next to the office have sulfur smelling water. The other showers were great!
Apr 14, 2025 · Brendan SmithThis place has great potential. City really needs to invest some of the profits back into the business (streets, camp sites, signage, landscaping..etc. The staff was great. A little TLC would make it a 5 STAR.
Mar 06, 2025 · willie “Rudd” rutledgePost Apocalyptic RV ParkImagine, you are in a campground where a new RV hasn’t been made in 300 years. Road construction can’t be done anymore. WiFi is extinct. Scabby dogs roam the campground or howl from inside dark, seemingly abandoned trailers. Dog feces are everywhere. You almost expect to see zombies peaking through the tattered curtains of pre-holocaust campers. Scary? You bet! But you don’t have to wait until after SkyNet takes over, you can experience it now at the Landa RV Park in New Braunfels!! Seriously, horrible park with 99.9% full timers in rancid, rotting RVs. Roads are almost impassable. Stay away!!!
