Son's Guadalupe Introduce
For local residents and those seeking a refreshing weekend escape in the heart of New Braunfels, Texas, Son's Guadalupe, located at 7308 River Rd, offers a unique and highly recommended camping experience centered around the scenic Guadalupe River. If your search for "camping near me" prioritizes a beautiful riverside setting, convenient access to river activities, and comfortable accommodations, Son's Guadalupe is a destination that consistently earns rave reviews.
Based on recent customer feedback, Son's Guadalupe is particularly noted as "your place if you are looking for a weekend getaway." This highlights its appeal for short-term escapes from the routine. It is important to note that the campground is mentioned as being "only open on weekends," which local users should keep in mind when planning their trips. The popularity of the location is evident in the reviewer's luck in securing "the last tent and picnic table," suggesting that booking in advance, especially for weekend stays, is highly advisable.
One of the standout features mentioned is the availability of "clean, fresh and comfy" tents for rent. This provides a hassle-free option for those who may not own camping gear or prefer not to transport it. The positive description of the tents indicates a commitment to guest comfort and cleanliness, ensuring a pleasant night's sleep after a day of river activities. This tent rental service caters well to those looking for a spontaneous weekend "camping near me" without extensive preparation.
A truly unique amenity that receives high praise is the "in water picnic table." This novel feature allows guests to enjoy meals and socialize while partially immersed in the cool waters of the Guadalupe River, creating a memorable and refreshing experience. The reviewer noted that it "didn't disappoint," underscoring its appeal and the enjoyment it provides. This distinctive feature sets Son's Guadalupe apart and offers a fun and interactive way to enjoy the river environment.
The natural environment surrounding Son's Guadalupe is described as "amazing," with "views of the river, trees and nature." This highlights the scenic beauty of the location, providing a relaxing and picturesque backdrop for a weekend retreat. The opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural surroundings is a key draw for those seeking a break from urban environments. The tranquility of the river, the shade of the trees, and the overall natural ambiance contribute to a rejuvenating experience.
For those looking to enjoy the Guadalupe River, Son's Guadalupe offers convenient access for "relaxing tube float." River tubing is a quintessential New Braunfels activity, and staying at a campground that facilitates this directly enhances the overall experience. The friendly staff are also mentioned as being "around for any help we needed," indicating a commitment to guest support and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable river adventure. The recommendation to others further reinforces the positive experience reported by this reviewer.
Another reviewer highlighted the ease and speed of booking a "cabana last minute." This suggests that Son's Guadalupe offers various accommodation options beyond tent rentals, including cabanas that might provide a different level of comfort or shade. The positive feedback on the booking process indicates an efficient and user-friendly system. Upon arrival, the location was described as "so cute and relaxing," further emphasizing the charming and tranquil atmosphere of the campground.
Cleanliness extends to the communal facilities, with the reviewer noting that "the bathrooms/showers were clean and easy to get to." This is consistent with the other review mentioning well-kept facilities and underscores the campground's commitment to hygiene and guest convenience. Easy access to these facilities is also important for a comfortable camping experience.
The proximity to other local amenities is also a plus, with the reviewer mentioning that they "walked over to Lone Star grill for lunch." This suggests that Son's Guadalupe is conveniently located near dining options, providing guests with alternatives for meals without needing to travel far. This adds to the overall convenience and appeal of the campground.
The only minor drawback mentioned by one reviewer was that "the ONLY thing my kids didn't love was how shallow and rocky this part of the river is." However, they still acknowledged that their children "had a great time :)," indicating that even with this minor issue, the overall experience remained positive. The shallow and rocky nature of a particular section of the river might be a consideration for families with very young children or those specifically seeking deep swimming areas, but it did not detract significantly from the overall enjoyment.

Son's Guadalupe Reviews
THIS is your place if you are looking for a weekend getaway. It is only open on weekends but we were lucky to get the last tent and picnic table. Our tent was a clean, fresh and comfy. We had a in water picnic table and it didn’t disappoint. The views of the river, trees and nature is amazing. My husband and I had relaxing tube float. Friendly staff were around for any help we needed. Definitely recommending this campground and river.
Sep 21, 2024 · Rachel OlivarezI booked a cabana last minute and it was so easy and quick. When we arrived, the location was so cute and relaxing. The bathrooms/showers were clean and easy to get to. We walked over to Lone Star grill for lunch. The ONLY thing my kids didn't love was how shallow and rocky this part of the river is, but they still had a great time :)
Jun 29, 2024 · Tammy OlagueWe have come here 3 years in a row and love it every time. It is so relaxing! I always recommend the table and tent in the water. Bring your snack and drinks and just chill. You can even grill out if you want. Have to give a shout out to Tyler. A person in our group daughter was having a baby at anytime and she did not have cell reception on the river so Tyler gave her his number to give to her daughter! Very nice of him to do that! We will be back next year for sure!
Jun 24, 2024 · Lisa AdamsDecided to have a small get together for my daughter’s birthday here in a Cabana.. Worst decision ever! For starters, the river was so far from enjoyable especially to get in and out was an injury trap (which is why I assume the waivers were necessary). There was a gentleman helping everyone down and to their spot, (did not work for the place, just there with his own party) who we were so thankful for! The reservation was for 10:30a-6:30p & we ended up leaving/packing up 2 hours early due to an incident that occurred at the Cabana next to us. At around 3:30-4p a guy at the Cabana next to us (highly intoxicated) started arguing with his family & getting very loud using all types of profanity but, we decided to stick it out in hopes that maybe a monitor or SOMEONE would come and tell him to calm down or leave. By 4:15 things escalated quickly and just about all his family was holding him back so we decided to just pack up and leave because it was obvious nobody was coming and we could all see where things were going. Less than 20 min later two guys end up physically fighting and rolled into OUR cabana nearly hitting my 3 year old in the process. We told them to get out and take it back to their spot but there was no getting through to them. STILL at this time NOBODY came to check on things. Yet all the other cabanas saw, heard & were watching everything. I had my family take my daughter to the car, my mom recording, my husband watching to see the damages they make & I decided to call the only number I could find (which ended up being for reservations) & the woman told me she would be sending someone. Multiple people from other cabanas also called 911 but still took them awhile to get there. They fought in our cabana the entire time until the family let that guy go to which he walked next to a truck, pulled his pants down, and peed IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. We waited for someone from the front to show up and to my understanding they never did , until I went to the front myself and the girl up there had no idea anything was even happening! She said her manager was down there (who I didn’t even know worked for the place because he had no kind of uniform on) he literally stood there while that was happening and didn’t make any type of effort to at least get them to go back to their cabana. Mind you, I have all of this recorded. The people ended up fighting/ staying in OUR cabana until after cops arrived. I spoke to the girl up front about everything, told her if there’s any damages I should not be charged for them. I emailed as soon as I got home and asked how to file a complaint and they said to call the next day. Called the next day (Sunday) , explained everything to them & the girl had the AUDACITY to say” you didn’t have to leave , you could have stayed” HOW? WHERE? They were ALL in OUR cabana, throwing each other on tables, chairs, you name it. And basically said there was nothing she could do but for me to call AGAIN. Everything thus far has been nothing short of unprofessional on their side. All of that could have been avoided had there been some kind of hourly monitor, security or whatever. This was a total waste of money. Paid almost 450$ for quite literally the worst experience ever. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone with children , elder or honestly anyone at all!
Jun 17, 2024 · Raven SantosWe spent father's day weekend there a family of 5. The people were really nice and willing to jump and get stuff done. if you're wanting a romantic get away with the spouse this is definitely not the place, the tents and everything are really close to each other. our biggest thing was random people walking through our cabana and the proximity of the parking lot to the tents. It's a really nice place just don't think we'll stay there again unless we have a really big group and rent the majority of the place out
