You can reach them at (608) 269-6400 or +1 608-269-6400 to inquire about availability and make reservations. Based on recent customer feedback, the experience at Leon Valley Campground appears to be somewhat varied, with both positive and negative aspects highlighted by different visitors.
In terms of the environment, one reviewer describes the campground as "large and very spread out" with "ample green space," suggesting a spacious setting with room for various camping activities and for children to play. This could be a significant draw for families or those who appreciate having plenty of open area around their campsite. However, no specific details are provided about the natural features of the campground, such as the presence of trees for shade, proximity to water bodies, or the overall landscape. Local users might want to inquire about the specific characteristics of the environment to ensure it aligns with their preferences for a camping experience.
Regarding the services and amenities offered at Leon Valley Campground, one positive aspect mentioned is the presence of a "nice pool," which can be a valuable feature, especially during warmer months, providing a recreational option for campers of all ages. Additionally, the bathhouse is noted to have "private showers," which is often appreciated by campers for the added comfort and privacy. However, other essential services typically expected at a campground, such as the availability and quality of restroom facilities, laundry services, Wi-Fi access, or specific RV hookups (water, electricity, sewer), are not mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users should consider these aspects and inquire about the full range of services available to ensure their needs are met.
The "features" of Leon Valley Campground seem to include its size and spaciousness, the presence of a swimming pool, and the availability of private showers in the bathhouse. These could be attractive features for certain types of campers. The large size might imply a greater number of campsites, potentially increasing the chances of finding availability. The ample green space could be ideal for outdoor games and relaxation. However, the reviews also highlight a significant point regarding the management and customer service, which could be considered a crucial "feature" of any campground.
One review recounts a highly negative experience with the owner, detailing issues with reservation confirmation, payment processing, and ultimately being asked to move their camper due to the spot being sold to someone else. The reviewer described the owner's attitude as "the WORST," characterized by yelling and disrespect, and labeled the service as "very rude and bad." This feedback raises concerns about the campground's management practices and the potential for negative interactions with the staff. The reviewer strongly suggests that the owner needs to improve their operational skills to ensure customer satisfaction.
In contrast, another reviewer had a positive experience, describing the campground as "great for the price point." They specifically mentioned the owner being "very accommodating" when they had to move their reservation at the last minute and expressed a definite intention to return. This positive feedback suggests that experiences at Leon Valley Campground might vary, possibly depending on the specific circumstances or interactions with the management.
Considering these contrasting reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" should approach Leon Valley Campground with a degree of caution and due diligence. While the spacious environment and amenities like the pool and private showers are appealing, the serious concerns raised about the management and customer service cannot be ignored. It would be prudent for potential campers to contact the campground directly to clarify their policies on reservations, payments, and site assignments. Inquiring about the availability of specific amenities and the general atmosphere of the campground might also be beneficial.
Currently, no promotional information is provided in the reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for extended stays, seasonal offers, or any other special deals should inquire directly with the campground management. Checking their website (if available) or any social media pages might also provide information on current promotions.
In conclusion, Leon Valley Campground in Sparta, WI, offers a large, spread-out environment with a pool and private showers, which could be attractive to those seeking "camping near me" with these features. However, the significant negative feedback regarding the owner's attitude and management practices warrants careful consideration. Potential campers should weigh the positive aspects against the reported negative experiences and take proactive steps to gather more information directly from the campground before making a reservation. Reading additional online reviews from various sources might also provide a more comprehensive picture of what to expect at Leon Valley Campground.

Leon Valley Campground Reviews
They told us we had a spot. Were there to pay for the spot 3 times and the owner told us we had it but was never there to let us pay or do the paper work. We went there to park our camper (that she said we had) it was parked for a few days without a problem. We go there to hang out in the campground and the owner comes up to us with the WORST attitude yelling saying we have to move because the sold the spot to someone else. This place is very disrespectful and completely clueless about how to run their own campground. Very rude and bad service. The owner needs to find out how to run things properly or no one will want to be there. Terrible.
Apr 27, 2025 · Quinten MorrisGreat campground for the price point. Is large and very spread out. Ample green space with room for kids to play. Nice pool, and bathhouse has private showers. I had to move my reservation at the last minute, and the owner was very accommodating. I will definitely return!
Aug 13, 2023 · matt54623The owner is incredibly helpful and accommodating. We were able to get a pull through towards the front and the space was plenty big. The grounds are kept nicely and the area was nice. The only disappointment were the showers. They were not the cleanest but my biggest issue was having to dry and dress in the same space you shower.
Jul 31, 2022 · Kayla RussVery clean and quiet. There are a lot of seasonal sites here so if you don't mind a constant traffic of golf carts driving by your site all the time you will enjoy your stay. The staff is very courteous. The site is not located directly on the bike trail but is within driving distance. We will definitely visit again.
Jun 26, 2018 · Nathan BourdoThe sites are nice and level, for the most part. Power and water hookups at the sites with picnic tables and fire pits just waiting for you to enjoy. The pool was nice and clean. The recreation room is exactly what I expected ( you have to get pool balls and air hockey pucks from the front desk). The only issues I have with the campground is camper accountability. Each time I’ve been there someone from our group has had their campsite taken and the owners don’t seem to care. I expect that when you reserve a site in advance, that the site is open when you get there and you don’t have to “just pull into another site”.
